Yesterday after going to church, sitting with my dear local sister friend and her daring kids who call me Aunt Charli, I was smiling way down deep in every corridor of my being. The message was great, the worship so joyful to the soul.
I sat down after to do some writing, an enjoyable pastime, when almost suddenly, a sadness took over my heart and mind. No rhyme or reason, just a heavy ache that left me wanting to shed tears.
I knew that I had just completed a busy week. I was tired and just needed to sit quietly in my emotions, to wait for His revealing. As the night progressed, so did the uncomfortable emotions...ugh. It was so out of nowhere and burdensome that I thought perhaps I needed to reach out to some friends or family. I did not, though. I went to Him and I am glad that He came to my senses.
When our emotions take us places that leave us empty, scared, sad or lonely, He is our portion and He does the filling. I am not suggesting to never reach out, but quite the contrary, just to reach out first and foremost to the Lord.
Our soul waits for the Lord ; He is our help and our shield.
Psalms 33:20 NASB
Fast forward to today…
I am still tired but feeling so much better, stronger. Praise His Holy Name. I pray that I will never forget that in all ways, in all days, He calls to my remembrance that He is my sanctuary.
He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.
Psalms 62:2 NASB
