There is A mall in Portland Oregon that when it opened in 1960, it was the largest urban shopping mall in the country; some claimed that it was the largest in the world. It may have lost these titles, but with only a bit less then 1.5 million square feet of office and retail space, a 900-seat food court, 18 movie theaters and an indoor ice-skating rink, Lloyd Center is still the biggest shopping center in Oregon.

The shortest lighthouse in Oregon is the Cape Mears Lighthouse near Tillamook. It's only 38 feet high. Fortunately, it sits on top of a 217-foot cliff

Oregon has many excellent ski hills and people travel from around the world to take advantage of them. And with good reason. Not only are the views spectacular, resorts such as the Timberline and mount Bachelor ski areas are often open most of the year

The Timberline Lodge on Mt Hood is the only ski resort in North America that is open all year- round. Built entirely by hand from massive timbers and native stones, it took 15 months in extreme weather conditions before construction was completed. Four stories high and encompassing 12,350 square feet, the first floor is often covered with snow, and people have been known to ski down the building itself. Dedicated by President Franklin Roosevelt in 1937, Timberline was declaired National Historic landmark in 1978.
