Ok so I know there are some people on the forum who are really passionate and knowledgeable about health, and I'd love your input! For those of you who don't consider it an area of expertise, that's ok! If you have something to say that you think would help, I'd love to hear it :).

Here's the problem: I hate breakfast! In fact, since I was about 12, I've just skipped it altogether, because I literally have to force myself to eat it and it made me feel nasty afterward. I just...don't want it. I am not hungry at all until 2-3 hours after I get up, and by that time it seems too close to lunch to bother with breakfast.

Then, a year or two ago I heard that not breakfasting was terrible for the metabolism, so just in the last six months or so I've been trying to eat breakfast again. I don't always get it everyday, but I've been trying! I discovered I eat better if I have something hot--eggs, cooked cereals like oatmeal or cornmeal mush, sauteed veggies, fried potatoes, leftover soup/stew/meat from the night before. To one of these I add a fruit and/or some milk, and something naturally fermented like sauerkraut.

I found I could actually eat this stuff! I think between the lacto-fermentation and the hot food, it made me feel a lot better. So I ate happily, fully believing I was on my way to a better, healthier metabolism level.

Fast forward to now, this is the only thing I've changed in my eating/exercising habits, and I am packing on the pounds like crazy, and even more tired and less energized, if that is possible. I'm not a figure-freak. I don't care if I'm not perfectly trim, but I want my God-given body to be healthy, and I want to feel good! So, what am I doing wrong here? Any suggestions or comments?

Thanks for taking the time to read this and respond!

lol that's what I thought too at first. I could not believe that that would somehow make my stomach feel better. But as always...give it a try before shooting it down. The non-canned stuff is helpful for digestion so it actually makes me feel better in the long run!

Follow your body. I drink water in the morning and eat an hr or so later with a coffee.
My day is scheduled that it works lol.

U can also have breakfrst and then lunch even if its only a few hrs apart.
Start your day with water and see what u can do

Oh, thanks! Like duh...my mum is constantly saying "DRINK MORE WATER" I seriously don't know why I wouldn't have applied it here lol. Usually, I bring it back up if I drink much before breakfast, but if I eat a little something it works well to drink water. I haven't been used to drinking much water in the morning, since I hadn't been used to eating :).

Oh gosh...don't even mention bacon. I haven't eaten bacon in...I don't know how long. I don't need that GMO stuff, and I'm not willing to raise the amount of pigs it takes to keep me in sidepork ;).

Also, grain isn't bad if you get it organic. I hear they are finding all these gluten intolerances from the chemicals they spray on the grains. We always eat organic grains.

Demi changed her pic..... nice.
I noticed! I second that. Nice picture Demi! :)

I'm actually drinking watermelon juice right now. No water added, just watermelon flesh, rind and organic lemon. It's pretty good. :)

I don't think grain is meant for human consumption. I notice when I just eat meat and eggs, my weight dropps, my lifts get heavier, my heartburn goes away, my testosterone rockets through the roof, wounds heal faster, I don't get sick..... life is just better.

I always make sure I do something physical after breakfast. A short walk. A bike ride. Fight my dog. Etc.

It'll put that food to use and still make you less likely to binge for lunch and dinner.

That is all true, but the colon and digestive track need fiber from grains to keep the digestive track clean and prevent colon cancer. (I know... too much info! but its important info)

That's interesting! I personally don't get enough B vitamins when I'm not eating whole grains (and I'm not a supplement kind of gal), but everyone is different. And absolutely, grains can greatly contribute to weight gain.

My dog would love me ;). I think I would have to find an inside exercise substitute though, for those days during winter when sub-zero is the norm and I somehow don't feel like a walk...but thanks for the tip!

C'mon Dakota. Where I grew up, we laughed at winter while donning snowshoes and cross-country skis. Shoveling is also good for your upper body.

Also, leave Dakota. Move to Texas.

Eggs changed my life when I wanted to be a man. :p
