Inspecting your skin thoroughly can significantly reduce your risk from melanoma.

Dermatologists use the ABCD rule to identify suspicious moles and freckles:

A: asymmetrical shape
B: irregular borders
C; unusual color
D: diameter bigger than a pencil's eraser

If in doubt check it out...with your doctor.

Two other skin cancers to look out for are basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma,
both of which can spread (metastasize) to nearby lymph nodes and other areas of the body. Risk
is increased with excessive UV exposure, the use of tanning beds, and a compromised immune system.
