This guy seems for real and this seems very convincing, as simple as it is. It would be interesting to see if anyone with this problem (kidney stones) can get verifiable results from this simple remedy.

I was feeling something in my kidney recently (I'm a very healthy eater but I guess I sit at a computer too much). Also I got really worried because my neighbor had to have major surgery just for a kidney stone, which was quite large and she never even felt it til it was too late. So I followed the instructions in this video, and after each big does of the lemon juice I also added another step of my own idea -- running down a mountain (I live on top of a mountain) to try to help that acidic juice do it's job and dissolve things and pass things through. Well this is purely anecdotal but I tell you, I did feel some things "come out". (Many of us often pass small kidney stones painlessly and sometimes it can be felt in the urethra. Pardon any talk of personal anatomy but I think it's kinda warranted in this forum which will naturally contain a lot of anecdotal advice and feedback.)

I've started to feel something again in the same kidney so I think I will do this remedy again. I guess it would also be a good idea to "go to the doctor" at least for an ultrasound.

If anyone has this problem it would be nice to hear about some before and after results.

Doesn't your stomach digest the lemon juice and reduce it to other chemicals? What reason is there to think that the acid that dissolves stones, will make it past the digestive process unchanged enough to dissolve the stones?

From the way I understand it, Ken, Human blood MUST remain a constant pH. Therefore if you ingest acidic things, the urine will be acidic, to keep the blood in the right range. I don't know if it works or not, but I can see the biology.

...why?? Coffee according to the latest and quite extensive research in Japan and USA has discovered that coffee prevents liver cancer and some leading hepatologists are recommending their patients drink lots of it to prevent liver cancer etc...It also has been found to prevent colon cancer in some instances...

...actually lemon juice alkalanizes the bloodstream oddly enough. Drinking a min of 10 oz pure squeezed lemon has also removed uric acid crystals from joints that cause a deforming form of arthritis twisting fingers...

...I experimented, drinking between 10 - 20 oz daily fresh ... after having a blood test, where my uric acid levels were about 34, and after about 6 weeks of drinking lemon daily, they dropped to under the minimum for men, ie: 16, to 15 in my case...

...very interesting, however I just did it for cleansing and as an experiment to see if the uric acid levels do in fact drop...

...its VERY handy to know that this works for breaking up kidney stones as well...Apparantly black pepper helps break up kidney stones to some degree as well, and some research has reported a lower risk for stones in people who drink tea and both regular and decaffeinated coffee.

Coffee is a thick viscous liquid which is chalked full of a stimulant known as 'caffeine'.
Anything that speeds your system up ages you.
That is why meth heads look like they're 30 years older than they really are.
I'd be wary of 'studies' that show imbibing the equivalent of weak amphetamines is good for you.
What coffee IS good for is getting you awake and at work on time.
So if the objective of the study is to make people drink more coffee so they can do their jobs at an earlier and more elongated hour to the detriment of their long term health I'd say coffee is the ticket.

Also, look at where the studies originated from,....Japan and the U.S., two countries where the punctuality of their workers is paramount to making the trains run on time (so to speak).

You are correct Jim! If my biology classes serve me correctly your blood is attempting to be in constant homeostasis. This is why many things such as breathing is very important other than the obvious need for oxygen... too much carbon build up in your blood lowers its pH. I hope I don't get any stones, but if I do ill be sure to try it

Not enough of fruits containing citric acid lack of citric acid will produce stones, the acid will keep the body in balance with a good balance of alkaline, in comparison to the uric acid, which contains meat, balance is good.

RoboOp,
The lemon juice treatment makes some sense to me.

Why? Here's my take on it:
Among other medications prescribed by a doctor to a kidney stone patient, here are two that are important:-
1. An alkalizer solution:
An alkalizer makes the urine alkaline (pH>7). This is important because an alkaline medium prevents the formation of kidney stones.
2. A diuretic pill: This helps increase the urine flow, and flushes out small stones. It also helps dissolve and break down larger stones.

Lemon juice, although being acidic in nature, actually creates an alkaline environment in the body once it is metabolized. It therefore acts as an alkalizer.
If the lemon juice does nothing, the large water intake will increase the urine flow, just as a diuretic would.
That's why, in my opinion, the treatment would work.

(Please note that lemon juice is bad if one has ulcers or suffers from acidity or has sinus problems)

On the other hand, an acidic environment (pH<7) promotes the formation of kidney stones.
An orange is acidic too, but (unlike lemons) it creates an acidic environment in the body. This is because of the sugar content. In contrast, lemon has very little sugar content.

Carbonated drinks have a high sugar content and therefore have a very low pH level (highly acidic), and can make the urine acidic.
Coffee, tea, milk, alcohol, spinach, beet, chocolate, etc. also make the urine acidic. So these are best consumed in moderation.
Watermelon works wonders as it alkalizes the urine (my personal experience).

Our blood is slightly alkaline. Even a slight increase in blood acid levels can be fatal. Therefore, when the diet is too acidic, the blood will pull calcium (an alkalizer) from the bones in order to retain its alkaline nature. This would render the bones weak.
An acidic environment also promotes cancers. Therefore acidic foods are best consumed in moderation.

I have braved a number of kidney stone s:) , and the above info. is from my personal knowledge and experience. Mine was a calcium oxalate stone (It is better to first determine what type of stone one has).

The other type of stone is the uric acid stone. In case of uric acid stone, one has to stop the consumption of red meats and organ meats altogether.

I would also suggest an ultrasound scan, which is very helpful in determining the position and size of the stone.

Hope this helps.
