Have you been led by Spirit to quit coffee?? I am. And I can say- oh, it's even harder than quitting smoking. Tomorrow is my next attempt to stop, it's so haaard, previously I could go even one month without it and then suddenly I got migraine and I found I could drink "just one" coffee to make myself feel better...And so here I am - again struggling to quit. Moderation You may ask? I can' t, for me it' s all or nothing. I just need some advices or your story about this..Thank you.

At 19 years old, it's not uncommon to not like coffee. I really did not acquire a taste for coffee until I reached my 30's. :)

Spirit leads me to quit coffee. Try replacing it with something caffeine free, and definitely not decaffeinated. Red bush tea is very nice I find. I'm also trying to quit smoking, but I would say coffee is much easier to quit than smoking, but also the 2 are somewhat related. Interestingly spirit also led me to not eat pork, and no I'm not Muslim or anything to do with that, but it was just an inner notion towards it. Recently science has shown that pork is one of the most unhealthy meats that you can eat, so spirit had it right to me (and Muslims too it appears). And before anyone quotes in the bible about eating ANY food or drink, poison is also naturally occurring. I also minimalize sugar in my diet, I don't add sugar to anything. Keeping the body temple clean and pure is on the top of my list, especially as I'm getting older. :)

****sometimes you need to cut back slowly-----if you previously drank 3 cups a day----go to 2 cups a day for a week-----then cut down to 1 and a half a day for a week----then one cup a day for a week----then half a cup a day for a week---then nothing at all...

Joking aside...

there are numerous health benefits to consuming SMALL quantities of coffee.

But if you feel like you should stop drinking coffee... then stop drinking coffee.

Changing things GRADUALLY is always the best way to make any significant changes to your body.

Have fun!

I just remembered when I was pregnant I even hated the smell of coffee. I opened all the windows wide open in a room where others consumed coffee. Why this feeling didnt last forever, eh? I can even go all morning without one and then in the middle of day I kinda need something "strong". This is indication already. Coffee is addictive. Addictions of any kinds cant go together with God. Ok, guys, I will do my best tomorrow and I will wave bye bye to this drink

I also used to be a coffee addict but had to stop because I got pregnant and my doctor said that it would be better if I replaced coffee with decaffeinated coffee... eeew!

So, during the whole first trimester, I only had one coffee (American coffee). I indulged myself with that one coffee because I was too sleepy and had to go to work.

But from the second trimester, things changed. I started to drink coffee again, but not everyday. One per week and then it increased to two per week and so on. I finished by drinking coffee almost daily (but never more than one coffee though).

I gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby girl and, again, had to give up coffee because I was breast-feeding her. But, because I gave birth by cesarian section, I ended up having some terrible headaches (side effect of the anesthesia) and the doctor told me to drink coffee or coca-cola. So, there I was, drinking coffee again.

The two weeks of my new life (as a mother) had been very difficult and frustrating for me. The girl wouldn't sleep more than two hours (without interruption) and ... if she didn't sleep, neither did I (obviously). So, I stopped drinking coffee because I said to myself that she is agitated because I drink coffee. But even without coffee, she would still cry and not sleep.

Finally, I got mastitis and could no longer breast-feed her, so we give her the formula and everybody sleeps and is more or less happy. And I can drink as much coffee as I can. But I don't want to because I want to sleep whenever I get the chance.

This is my story on how I achieved to drink coffee in moderation (plus a lot of details of my personal life).

In conclusion, if you want to drink less coffee, get pregnant! :D

****even sugar is addictive---you don't necessarily have to dump coffee---just drink it in a proper way---not too much...

Thinking & Action

It is always good to make personal choices which help our health, or our spiritual walk.
This is good!
:)

Sometimes when we're dealing with extra-biblical issues, like whether it's bad to drink this thing or eat that thing, we need to really think about it.

- Do we want to label something as sin which is actually good?
- Do we want to label something as good which is actually sin?
- Is it even possible for a thing to be sin for one person and not for another?

When we're dealing with extra-biblical issues... we need to really think through all of these biblical and moral dilemmas.

Here are some questions to think about:

1. What is addiction really? What is really a proper definition of addiction? Are there many definitions for addiction? What is really the best one? What is the best, most rational definition for addiction?

2. Now, with a proper definition of addiction, is everything which falls within this definition necessarily a sin?

3. Although people "can" be addicted to coffee, does this mean everyone who drinks coffee "is" addicted to coffee?

4. Contingent on #3, is coffee necessarily bad, or is it just over-use or abuse of coffee that is actually bad?

5. Contingent on #1, at what point exactly does over-use of coffee become a problem... if at all?

As Christians we are called to be wise, and prudent.

A. This means we should be aware of things that are bad for us.

B. But it means more than just being aware.

C. It means we need to think about what "bad for us" really means.

D. We need to give some real thought to the language we use, like "addiction", and really think about what we're even SAYING.

E. We need to think about distinctions between things like "personal choice" and "actual sin"... or even between things like "imprudence" and "actual sin".

F. If there are distinctions to be made, at some times, between personal choice and sin... then shouldn't we give these things some serious thought?

G. What does scripture say about these "personal choices", and how they affect ourselves, our relationship with God, and others?

Conclusion:

1. It is fine to make personal choices.

2. When we begin to think of some particular, and extra-biblical issue, as a sin... we should really give it some serious thought.

3. God wants us to be wise, and meditate in his word, and really think carefully about things.

:)

I may stop drinking iced coffee. I'm less than impressed with the brands I've tried so far. They all taste more like liquid creamer, and not real coffee. :(

coffee/sugar/salt, etc... is like a real person who has control over you! take-back your power and find out
how the 'natural-organic-person feels when they are FREE from addictions...

it's like a 'super-natural-awakening', ones God-given rhythm, it's like something brand-new!...

your heart and organs will surprise you at how efficient they will begin to work, without these powerful drugs...

It's your prerogative to decrease or stop drinking coffee. Just know this, I will drink your share, yes I will...

If your living right, there are really no health benefits to coffee.

It's a net minus food.

4 days without coffee..I can tell you I felt sooo bad, headaches were killing me, I couldn't function properly till today. Tell me about coffee being innocent, hah?! Such withdraw symptoms are similar to quitting drugs. I compeletely agree with God wanting me to quit this beverage. I dont need it to rule my life, although I didnt drink it that much - in morning only and maybe 1 cup in afternoon. And still coffee made this feeling of warmth, gave "energy" etc. Naaaaah! God is the one who gives all of that!! Bye, cofffeeeeee, I'm done with your socially acceptable drug status and lies!
