To become a believer in Jesus Christ you need to read your Bible so that you understand what he has done for you and why. Read the 4 gospels. Then you should understand what has been done for you through the sacrifice Jesus made for you. Then if you truly believe pray to the LORD ask him to forgive your sins and name as many as you can remember. After that state that you except his death in your place and the life you live now you will live for him. Then ask the holy Spirit to come into your life.
Next find a good Bible believing church and start going and asked to be baptized. Being baptized as an infant by believing parents is wonderful and puts you in Gods care, but once you become of age you must be baptized because of your own faith. You have to make your own choice to follow Jesus and part of that is being baptized by your choice. Your parents faith only covers until you are of age.
Coming to Jesus is not about being happy. Read about church history and you will see they went through a lot for their faith. People today even lose their lives then to deny the LORD. What you will get is a peace in your heart that come what may you are never alone, but this also comes through reading the word and maturity as a Christian. You will get joy that can never be taken from you when the LORD Speaks to you. He may have you do something and you obey the most beautiful thing play out before you. You don’t live in that place but in obedience and trust in the one you gave your life to.
When you Pray come to God and praise him for all he is and all he has done. Make your prayer directed if you do not give a clear understanding of what you are needed from him how will you know when you have received your answer.
Read his word get to know him this is his love letter to you. The more you know him the more you will love and trust him.
