if christians can still perform the miraculous, then why are Christians not going to hospitals and grave yards to raise the dead? bible also said they would survive poisoning...does that mean we go around ingesting poisons or does it mean that it would happen and be fulfilled..like when Paul survived the bite of a venimous snake..God does answer prayer and still perform miracles but the gift of performing miraculous signs and wonders has been removed from countries that have the gospel
Yeah I ask myself why Christians aren't acting to heal the sick and raising the dead. From what I see around me it's that most of them don't know they can. Or if they think they might they don't know how. They give it a half hearted 'God please do this' then ponder why God doesn't answer their prayers. As a fireman there were many times over my 33 years where our technology wasn't cutting it and I said prayers over people who then recovered. So yeah, as to why Christians aren't acting to heal the sick et al I'd say problem no. 1 is that they don't know they can, or how.

You have to remember too where and when we live. Again, the darkies are the acting authority in the here and now. This world runs according to their will. Yes Jesus has retaken that authority in the heavenlies, but He has yet to return to our world to enforce it. Until He returns we are to use His authority intercessorialy to enforce it. But it's not in a 'constant on' state. We have to call upon it in specific incidences. So sure, will some who drink poison or get snakebit have miraculous recoveries? Absolutely. But will all Christians who drink poison and venom be miraculously unaffected? Nope. It's not a blanket covering.

Your last sentence is the key. the gift of performing miraculous signs and wonders has been removed from countries that have the gospel. You are absolutely right about that. Tell me, who do you know who might have an interest in seeing that happen?

if miraculous signs and wonders reappear in places where the gospel has been removed then it is an indication that the signs and wonders were to confirm that the Word of God was authentic and that the Apostles really were bringing the words of God into the world and at the end of the revelations the apostle John warns us that anyone who adds to or removes God's word are cursed...so any new revelations are cursed..the gift of prophecy was before we had the completed written records of God's word and that and the miraculous gifts, signs and wonders seemed to have died out in AD 50 when the book of Revelation was complete..if you think the miraculous gifts are still around, how many people have you raised from death to life and please tell us their names please

A prophecy given today isn't new, it's a current application of the already existing Word of God. It should be checked against existing scripture and yes that's one reason you should ask that I or anyone else provide chapter and verse to support any prophecy we claim to give. Let me say that again, a prophecy given today speaks to a situation today, in the words that were given so long ago. I think that's the hangup, you feel that once it was 'introduced to the world' at the end of Revelation's writing we all came to a screeching standstill. That once introduced the Gospel would propogate by itself and we no longer have a part in spreading it. No it did not and most assuredly we do. I, you, and everyone else here at CC are the Apostles of today bringing the word of God into the world of today. And every gift and tool the apostles had to work with back then we have now. Problem is, there's a whole bunch of you who have been convinced that you can't. And so again I ask,

Who do you know who might have an interest in seeing that happen?

Yes I have raised someone from the dead, no I'm not going to give you their name (they're long since dead again anyway) and to be honest I wish to God I hadn't. It only prolonged their suffering and postponed their reunion with God. Don't any of you DARE do that to me.

OK, this theme is going to continue in another thread. But don't quit me here, I want you to understand that what I'm talking about is indeed very much rooted in the Bible.
