Twice in my life I have blasphemed the Holy Spirit.

First time it happened about 15 years,
ago during a heated (Christian) argument, while I was trying to say my point and was caught off by another person,
he was reminding or quoting certain Propehcy and I was trying to point out that what he was saying wasn’t relevant to this discussion and I said something like “I don’t &$#@ care about your @#$% Prophecy”..
after this I realized that I said wrong and not what I meant, but I was too late.
After this I became depresssed, hopeless and felt that God has left me,
I was suicidal, but only reason I didn’t commit suiside was because I felt sorry for all the loved ones, family and relatives.
But I was put on antidepressants and was surviving.

And when I was reading bible very often I stumbled on these verses:

Luke 12:10
And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

Matthew 12:31-32
Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

Mark 3:29
But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”

So that made it even more convincing for me that I has committed the unpardonable sin.

So I stopped reading the Bible.

And now recently Second time I have committed this sin again few days ago,
I was trying to say my view on Christian denominations, and that non-denominational view is the most correct one,
that all denominations are deviding Christians but Christians should unite instead of divide, that these devisions (denominations) are not from God but from satan, and said something like: “these Christian denominations are pretty much demonic-ations”,
and again when I said, it right away I realized my mistake,

After this I became extremely depresssed, my anti-depressants are not helping me anymore.

What’s the best option left for me to do with my life in this wold ?

Hello Ensoniq, welcome to CChat. I hope you'll enjoy your stay here.
Here is my take on this. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is a hardened heart of unbelief, even when you have witnessed God's work. The very fact that you are concerned that you have committed the unpardonable sin, says to me that you haven't. Pick yourself up and serve God the best way you can and I assure you, you will be just fine.

In your world intention means nothing and only words/actions do. I don't see truth in that sort of mindset. Intention is extremely relevant. I see no intentions against the Holy Spirit. And, really, even separate from intent i don't see anything that constitutes blasphemy. It seems you overly concern yourself with things to the point of paranoia, exaggerate things in your mind and let it bring you down.
Your issues isn't blasphemy, it's finding a healthier understanding of what you do and how to cope with them.
It's pretty obvious you're dealing with some sort of mental illness, so perhaps seeing a counselor or psychologist would be of benefit to you to get the help you Actually need to learn to cope with issues better. Just being put on meds is not a solution.

one of that is blasphemy to the spirit, what the pharisees were doing was attributing the work of Jesus and the spirit to satan, and that's why they cannot be forgiven

If someone declares that another person is of satan and that person is indwelled by the Holy Spirit then they have blasphemed the Holy Spirit because they have called the Holy Spirit satan...

thank you all for replying, but oh man so have I really blasphemed the Holy Spirit ? The different replies are pretty much what's going on in my mind, it's like one voice is telling me I definitely blasphemed the Holy Spirit but another is saying that it was just my mistaken wording especially that right away after saying it I regret it.

NEITHER. A person who truly blasphemed wouldn't care. What's in your heart is more important than what passes thru your lips.

Ensoniq, I too for many years suffered of this fear, until a pastor asked me if I reject Jesus and the Holy Spirit. My answer was no. I believe in Jesus, I believe He rose again, I believe that my sins are forgiven and I believe that I am filled with His Spirit. Jesus spoke so honestly to His disciples in John 14:1 and said to them. Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in me. John 14:6 I am the way the truth and the life...Ensoniq do you believe? If, so know today that you have life, and may the Holy Spirit fill you with joy as He takes all your guilt feelings away. John 15:11, John 16:24, we pray that the joy of the Lord will be your strength.

What you have done is not blasphemy of the Holy Spirt. You were just simply mad at God. I have gotten angry at God many times in my life and more recently, last week. Fortunately, God understands the human condition quite well and is quick to forgive. It is not entirely clear in scripture what classifies as blasphemy of the Holy Spirit but the fact that you are worried about this shows that you have not committed an unpardonable sin, otherwise the entire human race has committed the same sin too and is now condemned.

Hello Ensoniq,

First of all, let me tell you that you have not done what Jesus said, which is to blaspheme the Holy Spirit. Let's look at what prompted Jesus to say what He said to the Pharisees and religious leaders:

==================================================================

Then a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute was brought to Jesus, and He healed the man so that he could speak and see. 23The crowds were astounded and asked, “Could this be the Son of David?”

24But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “Only by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons, does this man drive out demons.”

25Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. 26If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand?

27And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. 28But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

29How can anyone enter a strong man’s house and steal his possessions, unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house.

30He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters.

The Unpardonable Sin
(Mark 3:28-30)

31Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the one to come.

=======================================================================

So, in the context above, Jesus heals a man by driving out a demon.

The Pharisees then claim that Jesus is able to drive out demons through Beelzebul, the prince of demons, which is another designation for Satan.

Regarding this, Jesus then says, "But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you."

Therefore, by saying that Jesus was driving out demons by Beelzebul , they were then saying the Jesus had an unclean spirit and thereby calling the Holy Spirit unclean, which is what prompted Jesus to say the following:

28Truly I tell you, the sons of men will be forgiven all sins and blasphemies, as many as they utter. 29But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of eternal sin.”

30Jesus made this statement because they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.” (Mark 3:28-30)

All of that said, in order for you or anyone to commit blaspheme against the Holy Spirit, you too would have to claim that Jesus was casting out demons by the power of Beelzebul/Satan and thereby calling the Holy Spirit unclean.

From what you have written above saying "I don’t &$#@ care about your @#$% Prophecy” was just a moment of anger and cursing and has nothing to do with blaspheme against the Spirit.

The very fact that you are grieved about what you said, demonstrates that the Lord is still with you, otherwise you would no longer be drawn to Him.

The scripture regarding blasphemy against the Spirit, is one of those scriptures which is greatly misunderstood. It's not something you can do by accident. And I'm pretty sure that in your conversation, that you did not say that Jesus has an unclean Spirit.

So, confess it, which I'm sure that you already have many times and move forward in Christ.

Hi Ensoniq,

I was just feeling a bit concerned about you and so I asked God what I should say and the story of Ananias and Sapphira popped into my head. (Acts chapter 5).
And so, if you haven't dropped dead already, I'm pretty sure your still very much Ok with God.

And, by the way, I have done and said way, way worse things than the ones you mention, and I know for sure God loves me.

And, just looking at the replies you've had, it seems obvious to me He loves you too!

:)

You can't blaspheme the Holy Spirit.
