Our intellectual mind cannot receive anything from the Lord, because they are spiritually discerned.

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Do all the above Bible verses sound like riddles?

Dear, the problem we have is trying to create God by our own limited understanding. He's incomprehensible. Nobody can explain him to you anymore than they can describe what the wind looks like or why it blows. God is mysterious to our little minds ~ but awesome and real to our hearts! And if we could put God in a box and label all his parts and attributes, he wouldn't be very extraordinary now, would he? Who'd worship a god in a box?

God said if anyone lacks wisdom, ask him and he'll give it to you. Nobody else can tell you who he is in realty. Only you yourself will find him when you seek him with your heart and not just your mind. He's not far off from you, he gets no joy in you not recognizing him, and it ain't doing much good for you either.

I was where you are when I was a new mother years ago and I didn't know the Lord. I can imagine your frustration and disappointment and the maze of confusion that seems to keep you from living a life of joy and peace.

A poor young blind woman lived in my community when I was 22 and we used to make fun of her behind her back because she was always so happy and talked with God as she walked, like he was right beside her. We thought she was nuts. But her joy never left her and I wondered what she was so darn happy about, ya know? She was plain, her clothes were out of fashion, her hair was cut short and she didn't wear sunglasses so her blind eyes looked weird. (I always cry my eyes out whenever I tell this story...)

Anyhow, she hung around the laundry facility when neighbors came to do wash and she must have sensed the deep darkness and horrid grief in my voice because she singled me out and befriended me. I tried to hide that fact from my friends cuz I was a "cool party chick" (tho I was secretly suicidal) and didn't want anyone thinking I'm wacko for hanging with Blind Mary. That was her name, by the way. Mary.

So after a short time of knowing Mary, we became like sisters. But I grew more and more jealous of her because she had inner strength and beauty of soul and joy that I never knew. One day I ran to her apartment and fell on my knees at her feet and cried, "Mary, I want the Jesus you have!" (Geez, I am crying like a baby right now, I'm so happy Mary befriended me!!!)

And my heart was opened, my spiritual eyes were opened, it was like heaven opened in my soul. I was a new person in my heart. I wasn't blinded by darkness anymore.

Well... that was in October of 1978. So long ago. I can hardly believe I ever knew such darkness, ya know? I'm so amazed at God how he does stuff to get us to know him, to free us from stupid lies about him, to make us really love him like a father, to make us see him in reality in our heart and soul and spirit. It was supernatural. A miracle of grace.

I pray that for you, HistoryPrincess. I pray someday you want that same beautiful Jesus who Mary introduced me to. He's faithfully willing and able to reveal himself to you. He'll do it. I believe that.

Too long to explain why. I just want to. I can only sum it up in three words right now. Empty, lonely, hopeless.:(
John 15:19
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

James 4:4
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

1 John 2:15
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

John 12:25
Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

2 Corinthians 12:10
That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

1 Corinthians 4
[SUP]11 [/SUP]Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling place; [SUP]12 [/SUP]And labor, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: [SUP]13 [/SUP]Being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the off scouring of all things unto this day. [SUP]14 [/SUP]I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you."

Matthew 5
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Philippians 1
21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22 If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23 I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; 24 but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. 25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith

1 Thessalonians 3
7 Therefore, brothers and sisters, in all our distress and persecution we were encouraged about you because of your faith. 8 For now we really live, since you are standing firm in the Lord.

***

That feeling that you don't belong in this world? It's because you don't belong to this world. The fact that you suffer in it says you must be doing something right. God says to persevere. Paul said he would. Shall we do any less?

Peace be with you my dear Sis in JESUS NAME.
Please! Please! please! Don’t Give Up. Remember JESUS CHRIST loves you so much and HE will never fail you nor forsake you. I love you Sis and many members here on CC love you. We are here for you and we care for you. You can write me any time if you want.

Remember my dear Sis that GOD wants you to be steadfast in your walk of Faith, because in due season, that is, at the right time, you’ll reap a harvest, if you don’t give up. As a Child of GOD, there’re unique abilities that GOD has placed within you. You might be at a stage in your life where you’re not sure whether you should continue doing the things the LORD has committed to you, due to challenges, persecution, tests and trials. But let me tell you this: maintain your focus. Don’t give up.

The Bible says if you faint in the day of adversity, if you give up, because of the troubles and challenges you’re facing, then your strength is small. But your strength isn’t small, because the LORD HIMSELF is your strength. To give up in the day of trouble means you trusted in yourself. 2Corinthians 3:5 says, “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of GOD.”
Trust HIM to see you through; HE is your ability.
Spend time studying and meditating on the Word of GOD my dear Sister, and obey HIS Word.
Remember, GOD is with you. So, you are not empty, lonely and hopeless because no one is hopeless who is in CHRIST JESUS.

I wish I had it together as much as all of you here seem to. I do know God and even do a prayer journal, but that doesn't mean I don't doubt or have my times. I wish I could make it all just disappear, but I can't. I know there's a life after this one, but I want this life to mean more than just working for God. I want to meet someone whom I can invest in, not just for myself but for them too.

Guys are pretty easy to get. They are everywhere. All they need is food and sex and most of them will stay loyal. Pick one out and marry him.

That doesn't mean they're good men though. Truly, there are few good men out there. And we aren't supposed to marry unbelievers.

Nobody has it together all the time. Everyone on this site has doubts. The Lord is faithful, even when we doubt and are faithless.

And as I suggested earlier, if you feel so down that you desperately need someone to talk to ASAP, please contact someone on one of the links I posted on the first page of this thread.

I believe everyone wants that to some extent. But we can't put ourselves before Him. We must remember to put Him first in our lives. I also believe that desire to invest in someone is placed there by God. He created us right?

I agree with what you said, but I also disagree. I disagree when people say it's all about God, because relationships are never about one person only, they're about both.

Correct, if we didn't matter than God wouldn't have created us. But he must be first and then us.

Yes but he didn't create us solely to worship him, that would be like marrying someone just so you can get in bed with them.

Which a lot of people do by the way.

TRUE. The Creator created us in His image, namely our ability to reason, And with our reason we were freely able to reflect upon the Creator. What a magnificent Creator and creation.

Church might be a good place to start looking. I sat in the back row for 3 years before my wife walked in one day. But if you do find a guy, you need to know it ain't going to be happily ever after. Love ain't no miracle. You got to choose to love and choose it every day. Christians are real good at getting married, but are terrible at staying that way. We have created a society that places value on feelings instead of wisdom. Guys aren't hard to find. There are a lot of lonely souls waiting for you to walk through the door.
