The twenty four Elders around the throne of God, represent the twenty four courses of the Levitical priesthood, with one priest for each course seated on each of the twenty four thrones, As recorded in 1 Chr.24:7-18.

In Jer.33:17-18: "For this is what the Lord says: 'David will never fail to have a man to sit on the throne of Israel, NOR WILL THE PRIESTS, who are Levites ever fail to have before me continually to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings and to present sacrifices.'" See also 2 Sam.7 for God's promise to David.

There are many who attempt to identify them as the twelve apostles and twelve of the old testament saints, but there is nothing in the Bible to support this theory or any of the others, except the one above.

They do not represent them. They are the reality of which the 24 courses of priests were a picture,

The Scriptures in the OP refute your unqualified opinion.

Hello Quasar92 (For Valiant)

The twenty four elders represent the same of those whose names are written on the gates and foundations of the new Jerusalem.

"The city wall was broad and high, with twelve gates guarded by twelve angels. And the names of the twelve tribes of Israel were written on the gates."

"The wall of the city had twelve foundation stones, and on them were written the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb."

Therefore, twelve of the elders are representing Israel and twelve are representing the church.

The twelve tribes, with the tribe of Dan missing.and twelve apostles with Judas missing that all together make up the one bride of Christ as 24 elders supports the theory.

What theory supports two brides with different color flesh, as two apposing gospels? Did one color of flesh replace the other seeing God is no respecter of the flesh?

Christian are the kingdom of priest .The refomation has come the veil is rent .

I see that a little differently. Therefore, twelve of the elders represented as the Israel of God , born again of the spiritual incorruptible seed (one) ,Christ .

Not all Israel is the spiritual Israel as born again believers. And together with twelve apostles represent the one church made up of many lively stones that makes up the spiritual house of God , His chaste virgin bride the church..

She as the mother of us all is represented by a number no man could count,144,000...... 12,000 times twelve thousand .or ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;another number used as a parable that no man could count that altogther as one bride sang the new born again song .

Jacob had 12 sons and there were also 12 Apostles of the new testament. The complete number is 24.This is the sum of the symbolism mentioned in Revelation 4:4.

Let me say this again, there are no missing tribes. To use tribes in a strict sense, there are a baker dozen (13) tribes. Depending upon how they are used in the OT, there will always be twelve. Most of the time a different twelve.

The twenty four elders represent the church in Heaven which includes all of those that were in shoal when Jesus freed them prior to His ascent.

Again you speak of symbolism. You then can read anything into it. The apostles were the church and the OT saints are also considered the church with no different distinctions.

There are at least three distinctions of saints, the Church saints, the martyred saints and the tribulation saints.

You then have the survivors of the seven years (nations) just prior to the 1000 years reign. It is these who will populate the the earth for the 1000 years. The church /OT saints will be priest and Kings while the Martyred saints and the tribulation saints will serve the Lords needs 24-7.

LOL so you think heaven is patterned on earthly things?. It figures.

As all amateur Bible speculators do when they're backed into a corner from a lack of ability to field a valid Scriptural argument, they begin attacking their opponent. If you have nothing to contribute to the subject of the thread, then get out of the kitchen
which is too hot for you to handle!

"Who are the 24 Elders seated around God's Throne in Rev.4:4?"

They are the Twenty Four Ribs (Apostles and Prophets) that surround the Heart (Throne) of God.

In other words, they help form the Body.

Ephesians 2:20-21
"And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone"

"In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:"

Has the Lord opened anyone's eyes to this Revelation?

It's pretty obvious you know...

Greetings Base12,

The twenty four elders are represented by the following:

"It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel.

"The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb."

Twelve are representing Israel and twelve are representing the church, which is who the twenty four elders are made up of.
