you are just an attention seeker !!!! be glad , you've got what u want with all these 18 replies !!!!!

As filipino myself , Im contented of who I am...as long as we were born in this world as human..im grateful to God..

Not all filipinos were the same views as this fool has.....forgive me for being blatant of my word people....ill send my apology to all in behalf of this guy(OP)....

Philippines is beautiful country....God is here
You don't know all the reasons this man feels the way he does. What he deals with one a daily basis. What his mental state is. And you call him a fool and an attention seeker for reaching out for answers?
Personally I think your callous, heartless, judgmental attitude is a worse representation of your country than the OPs attitude. You embarrass yourself.

It is not only progressive in the news. People in China also experience the fruits of progress just like my Chinese teacher friend who can buy a nice apartment and save millions but our teachers in the Philippines are destitute to the point that they cannot save enough.
That's everywhere. Many in China are extremely poor as well, and that country is a Marxist dictatorship. Why do you ignore their being held in what's basically a huge slave labor camp and are so materialistic that you think they have it better off? Filipinos are freer people than they are. The few wealthy in China are basically all higher-level Communist Party members. Christians are imprisoned in that country for teaching God's Word. It's one thing to want necessities of life, and another thing to be materialistic. You are the latter.

The poor people in China are almost in rural areas. Chinese cities are progressive enough where a Chinese poor man can just work in the city in order to save enough money for himself to rise up from poverty.

unlike in my country, either you are from urban or rural area, you wont be able to save enough and this is the reason why a lot of my compatriots go to abroad to earn more. in China just go to any Chinese cities especially in Shanghai and you will earn well there.

The Chinese are materialistic? the Filipinos are also materialistic too and they learned from it from the Americans because it was the Americans who mass educated the Filipinos when they ruled the country as one of its colonies.

And admit it or not, I know the Christian spirit is starting to lose in the US; materialism and corporate greed is now starting to become the way of life for most Americans.

It is former atheistic Russia that is becoming more Christian after the Russians themselves decided to abandon Communism including its atheistic nature.

Yes the Filipinos are freer but this more freedom enable them to become more stubborn individuals mostly.

Most people in my country do not anymore fear violating the law.

In China I know it is harsh in punishing law offenders.

As far as I know, you will be imprisoned for preaching if you do it in public.

I know China has freedom of religion but it is limited; you must not preach in public or secretly advertise any thing Western in the form of religion (such as introducing Western musics and other stuffs)

No, don't resent God for it.
You can't control where you are born.

Developed countries have that too. People Use drugs to forget their problems and make them selves feel good.
Crime is a product of drug abuse and poverty, Peoples desperation to survive.

It's also a product of sin, People don't care about themselves or others. Just pray for them, and if you get the chance,
try running for office, once your in office you can make changes to improve your countries economy and offer services to help turn peoples lives around.

Why don't you write the president of your country and express your concerns? ask him to change things.
share your ideas to improve your country.

If he actually listens your one step a head of Canada, Our Prime Minister actually legalized marijuana here, Our country is going down the crapper. Because Trudeau is, well not too bright, in fact In fact if I got his job, I would recommend he get my ODSP cheque. He is like an air borne guided missile with no guidance system.

Because the Philippines is a poor nation because it is rife with crimes, illegal drugs, political divisions, colonial mentality, crab mentality and political corruption.

I wish that I was born in a progressive countries such as Japan, France or the US.

It is misfortune to me that I was not born in a progressive country.

I would not consider the U.S. to be any country that is progressing anywhere other than towards it's own destruction ... Truthfully, at the present, it is much more of a "regressive" country ... God does not care what country you are from ... You either try your best to follow Him, ask for forgiveness and enter into heaven or you do not ... Makes no difference how much money you have or where you are from ...

Your last sentence is esp. true. I am trying to recall some verses that say so... as Luke 12:15:

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

Jameen, I wanted to share with u the verse given to Pontiac also... and say, did u notice it is the Filipino chinese who are also very hardworking and disciplined here as their chinese counterparts or relatives in mainland China, for many do/did have relatives there who came here and brought their cultural traits? But did u remember our Ilocano neighbors who have long been noted for their work attitude/ethic na nung bata pa ako, kilala na silang masisipag, hanggang ngayon ganuon pa rin. While sa ibang lugar, marami ang mahilig uminom, konting trabaho pa lang, gastos na, or ubos sa mga piyesta=(. Maraming hindi nag-value ng oras, and grow up wasting their lives pursuing the materialistic things nabanggit mo, pero meron din naman akong mga kilalang talagang gagawin lahat against all odds para lampasan ang mga pinayagan ni Lord na daanan nila-- but that is to grow, to mature sa faith nila, at hatakin na rin ang iba. Marami pa ring maliliit na taong nagsisikap, if u will look for them-- efren penaflorida... more!

Sasabihin ko pa rin it's more fun in the Philippines, and discover mo ang good (old and new) traits, traditions at strivings ng mga kababayan mo, at the same time learning from other cultures. Marami naman opportunities dito, tho di nga kasinlaki ang salary sa labas, but so what?! U just have to work harder-- and smarter daw (sabi ng iba)-- and trust the Lord He will take u where He will, mapera ka man o hindi=). God bless your search for answers, jameen.

I am filipino, born in the Philippines, and I grew up in the US from the time I was still a baby. I can tell you that all through my childhood I wished I was white because I got bullied for looking different. Even my own best friends bullied me at times. They would make fun of me as though I was chinese or japanese. Even kids I never met before or ran into in public would make faces and call me names.. I hated being filipino.

Fast forward to adulthood... After I had been working full time I realized how special filipino families are. I've always heard americans say that filipinos are very close-knit but I didnt know what they meant. I slowly realized how blessed and lucky I was to be a filipino. Even when my parents run into a stranger who is filipino they talk and get along as though they are old friends. I used to think they were all relatives of mine lol!

But now later in life I still wonder what life would have been like if I had lived in the Philippines instead. My relatives who have come to visit from there say they prefer the Philippines to the US. I think I understand why. Americans are very stoic and guarded if they don't know you. Its very easy to feel like a foreigner here. Also, they often won't engage in small talk. They will often just ignore you.

There is a widespread epidemic of depression and anxiety here in the states. People are overworked and overwhelmed. More anti-depression prescriptions are filled here than anywhere else in the world. Also, people here are generally overweight and in poor physical shape. And no one seems to get enough sleep. Americans are over-medicated and overworked....

So even though living in the US looks good in theory, it is not that great in reality. One of my relatives knew someone who came here to attend a very well-know technical school to learn computers and they quit halfway through because they said they couldn't handle how rude americans were.

Agree. anyone from either progressive or poor and corrupt nation can be covetous. and it pertains to a man who only thinks of enriching and enjoying himself and never thinks of doing service and worship to the Almighty.

My resentment of my own country comes because I know God's cursed the Philippines because of the people's iniquities:

Crab mindedness, Colonial mindedness, Political corruptions, graft, uncleanness, fearless in violating some basic laws and other misdeeds.

Most of Filipinos have no self discipline. No wonder this verse is fulfilled:

Poverty and shame to him that refuseth instruction: but he that yieldeth to reproof, shall be glorified. (Proverbs 13:16)

Most Filipinos are law breakers; tantamount to refusing instruction according to the verse in Proverbs so POVERTY was given by God to our country and SHAME to other countries because of it.

If we will start having self discipline and stop electing crooked politicians after accepting their bribes, This will enable God to grant us progress in order be uplifted out of poverty and shame.

You cannot blame me for questioning and even resenting God that He put me in a country of shame and poverty because of the people's majority disobedience.

If I can choose my country of origin, Japan will be my choice because that country is progressive; people are self disciplined, hospitable and courteous; it is a very advanced nation and the country is also clean.

Japan is epitome of cleanliness and self discipline in Asia Pacific Region.

Philippines is nothing but one of the shithole nations in Asia Pacific Region. if there is no hope that most people will repent from their disobedience, may God allow China to detonate a WMD missile into our country someday in order to eliminate a lot of unrepentant men as punishment because WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH in Romans 6:23.

Agree! because your PM is tactless and hypocrite because he dares to question the casualties of the drug wars of my country but turning his blind eye on some American drone attacks' casualties of civilians.

He even questioned our purchase of helicopters and have guts to deny giving it to us if it will be used against our local insurgents but never questioned the Americans giving military weapons to the Saudi Arabs against Yemenis and arming Ukraine against Russian backed rebels.

I know iniquities always exist in either progressive or poor nation but I prefer to live in a sinful and progressive nation than of mine today.

poor, underdeveloped, divided and sinful nation.

No wonder why you Canadians showed your discriminatory attitude against us by sending some containers of trashes into our ports.

Now will you blame me if I resent being a Filipino because of what your country did to my country?

You Canadians see us Filipinos as filth and I don't also blame you for it because you Canadians are progressive and educated people unlike the majority of my compatriots. you wonder most if not some of you became high minded because of your present superior status.

But mind you, your discrimination against us will not be forever. there will be a time that our country will become progressive too and will never be dependent on the West.

The West once humiliated China but today it is set to surpass the US as the largest economy on earth.

The same will happen to my country someday. it will become progressive and the start of this renaissance I believe is from our present administration.

No country (or state) is superior to another. The rest of the world is just as corrupt and evil as your country is.

You should take pride in your country, and make it better. Fight thr crime, fight the corruption, have a revolution.

You don't want to be a man without a country.

Everything you mentioned is happening here in America also. You will find those problems in pretty much every country, unfortunately. The Philippines are beautiful. I was stationed there for a short time while in the military. No, I don't live there. But we all must make the best of our situations, no matter what or where they are. If there are things that you dont like...change them. Or do your best trying. Good luck and may GOD keep you close little brother...

Salvation is not dependent on worldly wealth.
And progressive countries have their many problems too.
In many ways it is harder to preach the gospel of salvation
where people are affluent and think they have no need for
God's provision.

But all is not lost - in the Philippines there is wonderful Pentecostal revival
where God is providing an abundance of miracles, healings and blessings
to uplift his people; and to help them live better.

https://www.facebook.com/trfphils/

There is another man of God who is doing his best to help the Filipino people to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus , and to fight against child trafficking, his name is David Wilkerson, have you heard of him? He was recently blocked from Facebook for posting a picture of a child that was sexually abused & exploited.
