No, not at all.

It is my (probably fruitless) hope that this will not become yet another in a sea of osas debates.

Instead, I'd like to know why this subject is sooo important that people feel the need to debate it until they puke?

Until the Holy Spirit pukes? ;)

The question is, why is it so important that it warrants endless repetitive debate on a multitude of threads?

People's take-aways are always interesting. There, is that better?

There are many more people who believe they are saved than know they are saved. Those who believe they can lose their salvation bring into question what it is that they have believed.

Some folks will say they believe in big foot. That's ok but they can change their mind when they figure out they are wrong. If you are saved you will know it because of the witness of the Holy Spirit with your spirit.

Everything gets repeated seemingly endlessly on discussion boards, and in today's current political climate, there are fewer and fewer venues where such things are allowed to be discussed at all, let alone ad nauseum. Keeping such topics front and center probably seem important to those who wish to protect others from what may be considered the spiritual abuse of excessive and/or unwarranted legalism. Personally I do not care to repeat myself that much, and yet I am to put my personal preferences aside in favor of carrying the message that has been entrusted to Christians collectively. The message is that God loves us so much that He gave His only begotten Son to pay the sin debt on our behalf, extending reconciliation to God by grace through faith in the shed righteous blood of Christ on the cross, that we may be born again of the Spirit, for the flesh counts for nothing. Those who believe attain to life ever after, and those not covered by His blood face condemnation, and pass into the second death following the resurrection and judgment of all at the end of this age. People have no excuse not to know that there is a God, and knowing this, should seek out God's plan and purpose for humanity, which would include them. At any given moment, there may be hundreds of guests perusing various boards here.

I for one do not choose to debate this at all as my belief in this is based on what I read in the bible. Either Jesus died for your sins or He didn't. I choose to believe that He did. For all my sins that I had committed or will commit. Why live in fear of losing your salvation rather than receiving the blessed assured hope that Jesus will not lose a single one that were given to Him by the Father? I take Jesus at His word.

What you like to debate? You obviously get something out of being on here; been here since 2012. What would you really like to debate about? Or is this it.... Lets debate about how long it will take you to puke..... Fun!?!

Because people would rather teach than learn.

I can think of a few reasons

1. it calls the character of god in question (did god lie?)
2. It is probably the most important topic in the Christian faith, are we secure in christ or not?
3. People need to hear it. And be freed from bondage.

To save souls from hell, if possible. OSAS believe they can sin all they want and still go to heaven, but you must obey God in order to go to heaven. I will never give up trying to save them with truth- just like Noah tried right up until they entered the ark.
