Shalom brethren!

I have noticed that more and more use the name Yeshua when speaking about our savior. What is your view on that, and what significance does it have for you?

Does the name of your choice make you feel more connected through prayers than the other, or is it something you choose as an identy marker for your branch of Christianity.

I think it is interesting, because many of us believe the world is getting closer to the end every day. How are we going to greet our savior? Jesus, Yeshua or Lord?

I am very much looking forward to your reflections and opinions on this matter.

I've always used Lord Jesus.

I tried using Yeshua a few times but all I felt was confusion. No peace.

Kind of like calling your Dad by his first name. Its unfamiliar and weird.

For some of us who were taught about Jesus as a child, that becomes the name we use. And it is still the best name to use when we are speaking to children. Easy to say.

I also like Lord Jesus. Sometimes when I feel I need that 'father's touch' I like to call Him Father.

I say, either.

John 19:19Pilate also wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. It read, “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.” 20Many of the Jews read this inscription, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and it was written in Aramaic, in Latin, and in Greek.

I don't like the name Jesus. It's just weird how we went from yeshua in Hebrew to ee-ay-sous in Greek (pronounced yay-sous) to gee-sus in English. The English word Joshua is the same word, so why aren't we calling him Joshua? At one point I switched to Yeshua or Yahshua, but I really don't care anymore. I use Jesus simply to not complicate things.

Jesus is Greek. Yeshua is Hebrew, and is the equivalent of the anglicized Joshua. The Messianic Jews like to use Yeshua. I'm pretty sure God knows who you are referring to, whichever you use. Use the name you're use to. Your prayers are to addressed to the Father in the name of Jesus/Yeshua.

But more importantly, for effective prayer, evangelism, or teaching be sure you are filled with the Holy Spirit through the use of 1John 1:9. Nothing in the Christian life works outside the filling of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus, Lord, Emmanuel, Yeshua, The Great I am......I have no problem using any name that God has revealed unto us....my problem is when anyone thinks using a particular name makes them more holy, or righteous than someone that uses Jesus..............

I go way outside the box and sometimes pray to "my refuge", "my healer", "my savior", "my shield", "my defender", etc. You get the picture, but we just do not need to get legalistic about it. David didn't. He called upon the Lord as the Lord revealed Himself. I like to do that.

And the Lord does read the hearts. I am sure that He is blessed by whatever name we choose to use in addressing him.

I agree, but will note....The name of JESUS was not revealed until the N.T. and Gabriel states that his name will be called JESUS right?

That's true, but his name was revealed in a type much earlier. Joshua, who led Israel into rest in the promised land, is the same Greek word as Jesus.

For Christians "the Lord Jesus Christ" is the biblical designation of the the Savior.

"Yeshua" came into use after Messianic Jews decided that they they wish to keep themselves apart from other Christians.

Yep and most miss a big picture when it comes to Moses and Joshua....

Moses (representing the law) led the nation of Israel right to the promise land, but was not allowed to lead them in because the LAW cannot deliver into the promise land (salvation) all it can do as a school master is take us to the point of seeing the cure.....IT takes the SAVIOR to deliver into the promise land (salvation) JOSHUA.....HE was the one that led the people into the promise land.....

Under the law (MOSES) 1 sin = guilt and condemnation
Under Grace (JESUS/JOSHUA) = deliverance from the land of bondage (the wilderness of SIN)

I call him by the native name used in my tongue (language) so even though Jesus is a transliteration of the word Iesous, and not the translated word (why the interpretors did this to this and other words is beyond me) it is his known bame in my language, if i spoke hebrew as my main tongue i would probably call him yeshua,

now if my main language is english, but i use hebrew words when i call to god or say his name, i think we have a little issue of religion going on,

I actually read a post once where the person said that if we didn't use Yeshua that God wouldn't hear us.

For a while, "Yeshua" appealed to me because there is no "J" in the Hebrew alphabet. Now, the name "Jesus" appeals to me because of how powerful it sounds. It always sounded powerful to me. Before I was a true believer, I only cared about the origin of the spelling and not so much the meaning behind it.
