Got a revelation the other day about the Beattitudes......of course, a revelation is just another layer of truth that has no end! There's always more to learn.

They're a timeline of a Believer's maturity. :)

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

The beginning - stripped of pride, God humbles me. Pride cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. God only gives grace to the humble. The Christian walk begins with humility - I acknowledge that I need God - I cannot save myself. Total humility.

"Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted."

Now, that pride is gone, I can see my sin and I grieve over it. True godly sorrow for my sins and I am comforted because of the blood of Jesus - God's forgiveness for me.

Just another step in maturing in Christ.

"Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth."

Humility and forgiveness brings me to the place of meekness which is a gentle, quiet, submissive spirit, not rebellious - not obnoxious. As I'm maturing, the "earth" I inherit is my body - I'm no longer tossed to and fro. I have quieted the rebelliousness of my flesh.

"Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled."

Now, I'm craving the Word of God and the Holy Spirit of God and my heart and mind are able to receive because I shall be filled! Woooohoooo! Love the Word and Spirit of God - They teach me righteousness - living the way God wants me to live - the right way.

"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy."

With humility, forgiveness, gentle spirit, God's Word and Spirit, I start desiring to show mercy to others instead of judgment. I mature to not be critical of others and in return because I gave them mercy instead of judgment, they also give me mercy because of acceptance. It doesn't mean we agree with each other it just means there's no longer a critical offensive spirit in me.

Okay, I'm back!

"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."

Another process of growing up in Christ, when God has ALL my heart filled with ALL of Him with humility, forgiveness, gentle spirit, His Word, His Spirit, and mercy there are no longer any hidden motives or agendas in my heart - no desires for my will. I'm able to see God in everything and everywhere - in a sunset, in a baby's smile. I see His suffering in the face of people that are suffering. (When you've done it to the least of these, you've done it to Me.)

There's no where I can go and not see Him.

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God."

The greatest peace is a sinner reconciled back to The Father. Jesus is the greatest Peacemaker - He made it possible for the whole world to be reconciled back to The Father. We have been given the ministry of reconciliation.

"Blessed are those that are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

Remember when Jesus asked the Pharisees, "For what good work do you condemn Me?" Well, we will be persecuted for good works, too.

When the kingdom of heaven is in us and operating in our lives, we will be mature in Christ or shall I say Christ has matured in us and is operating in full measure.

Persecution can test our maturity level of love for God and commitment to His Will. The kingdom of darkness really suffers when we hold fast through persecution.

And, the last one....

"Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you."

Now, we've been through a little persecution for righteousness' sake among people, it's time for God to send us to the kings and leaders of nations because we no longer fear man or have any respect of persons. This is the Spirit of Elijah that manifests just before the Lord's coming to turn the hearts of the children and fathers back to each other.

Great is our reward in heaven because of the lost souls that will be saved because we walk in full maturity in Christ.
