Most of them are not my type...I would probably change the channel if I hear a very cheesy one on the radio.

Oh boy, here come my first dislikes!!!

Love songs trigger memories and emotions. You are experiencing ASMR in reaction to music. ASMR signifies the subjective experience of "low-grade euphoria" characterized by "a combination of positive feelings and a distinct static-like tingling sensation on the skin". It is most commonly triggered by specific auditory or visual stimuli, and less commonly by intentional attention control.

Depends on the love song.. Some love songs are about lost love.. Some can make you happy some can make you sad..

But silly love songs have been very popular for a long time..

I was born in 1980, so the songs that first came out late in that decade, plus most hits from the first half of the 1990s, encompassed most of what I first listened to on the radio.

Now, I've considered myself a hopeless romantic, for many years. I'm certainly no expert on the subject - I've never read "Romeo & Juliet", "Pride & Prejudice", or most of the popular literature along such lines. But the love songs often played by my local radio station really solidified certain ideas, in my mind and my heart. To this day, even though I'm currently 43 and single, I still have a very passionate belief in both love and marriage. So-called "realists" like to say, "Being married isn't all sunshine and roses - you have to work hard", and I totally get that. But I don't think that means you have to completely ignore or abandon the passion involved, either.

Anyway, I've written all of this, because I wanted to share with you one of my favorite love songs. Its called "Right Here Waiting", and it was first released in 1989, by Richard Marx. He initially wrote the song as a love letter to his wife, actress Cynthia Rhodes, and it has since become one of his most-requested numbers.

Personally, there was a period in my life where, as much as I adore this song, I couldn't hear it without crying. This was due to some very bad choices from my past, and while I'm now healed from much of it, I still can't listen to this as often as I used to. Still, its a truly great expression of love, and I hope you enjoy it.

You'd think that people would have had enough
Of silly love songs
I look around me and I see
It isn't so
Some people want to fill the world
With silly love songs
What's wrong with that?
I'd like to know
Cause here I go again...

Lady by Dennis Deyoung (founding member of the band Styx) has been a favorite of mine for many years. Not only does the song sound amazing, but the lyrics are sweet. Even better than this, Dennis wrote this about/for his wife. Although I don't know them personally, they still seem to be very much in love to this day. To me, love songs add sweetness to life. I can't imagine a world without such songs...

Sorry to hear this song brings back painful memories.

I don't remember this thread at all. Love songs are my jam. My favorites are by Bread/David Gates from the 70's.

This was always one of my favorites and one of the first songs I learned on guitar.

Well, my situation is a bit complicated. In truth, my only relationship so far was not a Godly one, but I loved her with all my heart just the same. And the choices we both made left some extremely deep scars - when I hear some love songs, it just brings all those memories right back.

I try and look back and think of the good memories. The song reminds me of my ex after 15 years the relationship came to a crashing end which leaded me running to church and there was Jesus. The love of my life just walked out of my life but my new love Jesus walked in because finally I let him in. Best day of my life 🥰

Well for me, the results were very different. After my ex dumped me for the last time, I spent several years locked in emotions of pure hatred and intense grief. I hated the world, I hated myself, I hated her, and to be brutally honest I hated God. I knew my actions with my ex were sinful, but in my heart I still loved her anyway, and I didn't know how to let that go (its something I still struggle with). My mom was the one who slowly helped me start to trust Jesus again, but it wasn't easy at all...and even now, there are some days when I feel conflicted over the entire situation. I've heard some people say things like, "Just trust Jesus - He's more than enough", and I know they mean well. But in my soul, I'm beyond exhausted when it comes to being single. I want to hold someone again, and to be held in return. I'm not eager at all to repeat my sinful past, far from it in fact...but I just miss having somebody.
