Hmm... then you should have enough "stuff" to make something for every table. Without knowing what colors the things in the boxes are, it's hard to know what color crepe paper to get. Do they sell crepe paper in assorted colors?

Also do you have enough lights/battery packs for each table? If you're going to go with a light in the centerpiece it really needs to have one for every table... and you can build flowers, whatever around the light beam.

You know that feeling you get when you've told someone you can accomplish a thing, but then they double the number of people attending, and you've already ordered the things you needed for half that number, and you don't have the time/money to order more, and also, your plan isn't working out anyway?

Is that too specific?

How about just...PANIC?

Yeah. I'm there.

When my pastor asked me to decorate for an appreciation dinner, he told me there would be about 50 people. And that number stayed the same for the past month. So, I ordered a few things I wanted to use to supplement what the church already had, and I gathered up a few other things to make centerpieces out of.

But! This morning I was told there were at least 100 people planning to attend, possibly 120, and I also tried to put together the centerpieces...

The battery box for the lights doesn't fit inside the mouth of the jar. I haven't got enough of these lights or jars anyway. I do have an abundance of Edison bulb string lights, which is so far the only part of my plan that's working out.

I'm trying to stick with the theme of the image I used for the invitations. This, and the text I added is in yellow:

I was trying to avoid doing anything with flowers or candles, which the church has hundreds of, but at this point I'm running out of options.

Are silk flowers and plain white candles going to look completely out of place with this more industrial style I'm going for? Probably.
Is there any way, short of spending a lot more money, to avoid this? Chances are slim, but...
Am I confident that I can make anything work together? Ehhhh...yes?
Will I need to get out all my craft materials and possibly power tools? Yes!
Am I wasting valuable time here asking myself questions...? Duh!

...seriously, if anyone has any suggestions or ideas, you may just save my bacon.

It is probably too late but you might find some interesting light things at sparkfun.com or adafruit.com

Well, I'm officially nervous as all heck. I just sent in my letter of resignation to a company that I've work for for 19 years. I know it will be taken well because I did kind of forewarn the owner last week that it was highly possible that I would be moving on, but the uncertainty of the future has me nervous yet excited. Thing just came to a point of me realizing that I needed to at least try to build my own company so that I can better provide for my family but of course art the same time I'm scared as all heck that I fall flat on my face.
There are risks in any worthwhile endeavor. Yes, this can be scary and things may go south but the ones that truly fail are the ones who are too afraid to try to take that first step. Of course you want to better provide for your family, those aspirations are admirable and acting on such is commendable whether or not the endeavor is successful.

Are you also are leaving CC? :(
You guys couldn't get that lucky.

@Oncefallen what business are you starting? Will we be able to order online? Also will you be prohibited from talking about it in the forums because, advertising?
I've worked for a commercial (schools, retail and office buildings, etc.) painting contractor for the last 19 years. I'm just starting my own painting company since the potential income is far better than what my boss can afford to pay. You can order online all you want but I'm not driving to Tennessee to paint your house. ;)

Also I'm guessing you won't have nearly as much time to moderate. Who's going to help out? Not that it's my business, and I'm sure not volunteering to be responsible for this pack of hyenas. :p I'm just curious and slightly worried... er, slightly concerned.
It may cut into my CC time somewhat at times but in reality currently I work for my boss 40 hours a week and then work every Saturday a routinely a few evenings a week doing my own work so it shouldn't cut my availability here too much unless my work load growth is far beyond my expectations.

Today's goal: Don't panic.

I picked a really bad time to start a new job. Or, everything else that's going on picked a bad time to happen. Regardless, this past week has been total chaos, with me trying to adjust to spending several hours a day working, while both kids are home with me, and trying to maintain some level of organization/cleanliness in the house, and taking care of the yard and critters.

Why didn't I just wait until fall? Oh, right, impatience.

On the bright side, things should settle down in a few days, and I'll figure out how to manage my time better. It would help immensely if the laundry would stop being so lazy and learn to fold itself, though.

Any way you can teach the kids to clean the house and take care of the yard or the critters? I've forgotten how big or small they are so if they're too young, then nevermind.

Maybe she can train the chickens to wash dishes and fold laundry. :)

Yes and no...they're 5 and 7, so they can do a few things without help/supervision. Putting them to work would kill two birds with one stone, though (and I don't mean the chickens...hopefully...)- if the kids are working, the house gets somewhat cleaner AND they're busy and not needing me to entertain them (y)

Hi again everyone I see some of you on Facebook, I haven't been on CC in a very long time. Those who have seen me on Facebook wouldn't have a clue about this because I'm not going to share it there. Life has been utter chaos for the last year. It's settking down, not good chaos but nothing that can't be fixed. Anyhow hope you're all well
