Whenever you resist the devil, he flees from you. When you fall into temptation is because you haven’t resisted the devil. Some will say, I try but I couldn’t. This just shows that they didn’t resist him.
The moment you resist him, he flees.

Hey did you know that verse does not start with "resist the devil"? It starts with something else. If you start the quote at "resist the devil" you have cut off part of the verse.

I hear a lot of people quoting that about "resist the devil and he will flee" stuff. I don't hear many people quoting the first part of that verse. Must be real unpopular, the first part of that verse. But without the first part, it's real hard to resist the devil at all...

To resist the devil, you must be knowledgeable of the Scriptures. have you noticed that whenever the devil tries to tempt Christ to do wrong, Christ answers him with Scriptures?

If you're ignorant of the Scriptures, you will be mistaken to believe or do something wrong in the eyes of God (Matthew 22:29, Proverbs 5:23)

This is the reason why God's believers are commanded to attend worship services and read the Scriptures.
