So I'm a happy cat right now. Walmart had another 6-inch fan in blue. (y) I made sure it had the clip with it this time. I also bought a pink fan so I can use the clip from the pink fan for the fan I bought last week that didn't have a clip with it. A friend tried to argue that I have to return the blue fan that didn't have a clip, and I said, "I want the blue one. Whether I return the pink one or the blue one, it's still gonna be missing a clip because the original one didn't have a clip with it." So they can't put it back on the shelf anyway, so it don't matter which color fan I return. They'll send it back to the manufacturer who in turn will put a new clip in and return it to Walmart.

I also bought another 4-inch fan as a backup for when the other one croaks. The only blue one they had in stock for each size fan.. (y)(y)

I am glad it worked out for you. I would switch the clip and return the pink one too.

I’ve got a question: what do y’all think about “Family Curses”? Does it exist? Does it not?

One family I know have just lost their third child, and all of their other children have passed away all three of them, all under the age of 26/27 years old. But it doesn’t stop there, their immediate family have also lost 2/6 children as well, the oldest drowning while one the other one lost to meningitis.

People I know who know the family believe that the family children are cursed and that there’s something that the parents are doing that’s wrong (as in doing a sin that is totally against one of the Commandments). I just want to know what y’all think.

Thanks.
Okay, so where were you going with this?
First, please read Job 1:1. It basically says Job was “blameless and upright.” His friends told him that everything that was happening to him was because he sinned, which was not true. Sounds like the same thing is happening here, we do not know anything about why this is happening, but are making quick judgements that they sinned.

I know when I was younger I always heard people wrestling with tradgedies happening to people. One of the common phrases was “Why do bad things happen to good people?” Constantly hearing this had me wondering. Yes, we all have sinned, but the world is broken and tradgedies are not always retribution for sin, as shown with Job. Bad things happen. I have since found it is best to not speculate but to comfort and encourage those going through tough times, and to pray.

Hark - What have I stumbled into? A Bible Study on Job? Or a contingency plan to examine popcorn more closely? Help me unravel what is going on here -:whistle::eek::geek:...

I guess it could be a little bit of both. Bad things happen to people, such as in Job, but in Zechariah 13:9 it says some will be placed in fire to be refined like silver. Trials are like the fire and we are the popcorn. It helps us to transform and grow in Christ. Tied them together, that help, slave?

Look what happened in my family: Nov. '45 my dad dies - April '46 my sister dies - May '46 I am born with severe asthma from 3 car wrecks of my mom being shot up with morphine. I almost die a few times until '48 when I seem to get better.

But in '48 my eldest aunt in Indiana dies and we have to take in 5 older kids. The youngest was my age. Shortly after grandpa dies next door to us. Things seem to line out except the overcrowding of two, two bedroom houses.

But in early '50 my brother dies and I go into PTSD. This seems like a curse, but I'll bet it isn't. All this has made the the person I am today.

I was being a bit cheeky because I had not yet red the Ketchup posts but now that I have allow me to chime in here - one of the most difficult parts of the Christian life is the fact that becoming a disciple of Christ does not make us immune to life’s trials and tribulations. Why would a good and loving God allow us to go through such things as the death of a child, disease and injury to ourselves and our loved ones, financial hardships, worry and fear? Surely, if He loved us, He would take all these things away from us. After all, doesn’t loving us mean He wants our lives to be easy and comfortable? Well, NO, it doesn’t. The Bible clearly teaches that God loves those who are His children, and He “works all things together for good” for us (Romans 8:28). So that must mean that the trials and tribulations He allows in our lives are part of the working together of all things for good. Therefore, for the believer, all trials and tribulations must have a divine purpose.

As in all things, God’s ultimate purpose for us is to grow more and more into the image of His Son (Romans 8:29). This is the goal of the Christian, and everything in life, including the trials and tribulations, is designed to enable us to reach that goal. It is part of the process of sanctification, being set apart for God’s purposes and fitted to live for His glory. The way trials accomplish this is explained in 1 Peter 1:6-7: "In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which perishes, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ." The true believer’s faith will be made sure by the trials we experience so that we can rest in the knowledge that it is real and will last forever.

Trials develop godly character, and that enables us to "rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us” (Romans 5:3-5). Jesus Christ set the perfect example. "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" Romans 5:8). These verses reveal aspects of His divine purpose for both Jesus Christ's trials and tribulations and ours. Persevering proves our faith. "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me" (Phil. 4:13).

However, we must be careful never to make excuses for our "trials and tribulations" if they are a result of our own wrongdoing. "By no means let any of you suffer as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler" (1 Peter 4:15). God will forgive our sins because the eternal punishment for them has been paid by Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. However, we still have to suffer the natural consequences in this life for our sins and bad choices. But God uses even those sufferings to mold and shape us for His purposes and our ultimate good.

"If any man will come after Me," said Jesus, "the condition is that he must leave something behind," - his right to himself. Is Jesus Christ worth it, or am I one of those who accept His Salvation but thoroughly object to giving up my right to myself to Him?

God will not give Himself to our life;
He will only Give our life a new start in Him
as our New Creation -
A New Life in HIM
As He becomes our life
perfected in Him.

(Job 42:1-2): "Then Job answered the LORD and said: ‘I know that You can do everything, and that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You."

(Psalm 8:1-9):"O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth, who have set Your glory above the heavens!"

“Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, because of Your enemies, that You may silence the enemy and the avenger.

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, and you have crowned him with glory and honor.

You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen - even the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea that pass through the paths of the seas.

O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth!”

I Love My Lord Jesus Christ with all of my heart and mind and body! I love being able to say that! He paid the price for that and so have I in obedience to Him. Praise His name! Thank You Father for Your Son and Holy Spirit! Thank You Lord for my Life found in You!
