I woke up this morning at 6:30 AM which is customary on my days off. I had to adjust my work schedule due to financial concerns so for the past few weeks I have been working Wednesday through Sunday instead of my usual Thursday through Sunday. Next week the 4th of July comes on a Wednesday so I will have my usual 3 days off in a row. After that, I will probably work a 5 day schedule every other week until fall when I will reassess my financial situation.

Hopefully, I will retire within the next 2 years. I have been working for the 'man' since I was 17 and the grind of surviving in the workplace has drained me. At that time that I hang it up we will probably sell our home in Florida and move to Tennessee. I lived there for 3 years in the early 80's when I was in the army and my wife lived there for a couple years in the 70's so we are very familiar with the state.

There is no state income tax there or a tax on pension or Social Security, the same as Florida so it is a very friendly environment for retirees. Very scenic too and we will be able to enjoy the change of seasons once again. Right now the only change of seasons that we have are hot and hotter. We are into the hotter right now. Besides that we are sick of the traffic as the population of Florida has almost doubled since I relocated here in 1985.

Really, the only intersting things I have done while living in Florida is to go to Walt Disney World and Universal Studios a zillion times. I did this when I lived in the suburbs of Orlando and the drive was about an hour away. People come from all over the world to come to Orlando and it was kind of neat that all the attractions were right next door to me.

Mostly, since I have lived in Florida I have worked and have actually seen very little of the state besides Orlando and Tampa / St. Petersburg where I now live. The furthest south I have been is Sarasota, never seen the Everglades, Miami or the Florida Keys. Kind of sad really. I can't say that I will miss this state.

I need a change in my life. It's time to move on.
I think of your two years left before retirement and I say to myself - I have 7 years - "Oh my!" - yet, people like becc say "7 years?" - "I have a lifetime! Oh dear me!" Yet none of us should worry about all that for none of us retire from God's mission which still exhausts us daily until He calls us home - for there is no retirement from being Holy..

I do look forward to having more time for His work versus my work for His ends. But this is foolhardy to say - God reminds me that it is there in all the aspects of my life I am still a man being made into holiness having a mission in all fronts on earth. I can only conclude that I need not search for anything outside of where and when I am - for this is God's will. May God richly Bless you in this fact tourist. It is written, "Be holy, for I am holy." - (1 Peter 1:16).

We must continually remind ourselves of the purpose of life. We are not destined to happiness, nor to health, but to holiness. Today we have far too many desires and interests, and our lives are being consumed and wasted by them. Many of them may be right, noble, and good, and may later be fulfilled, but in the meantime God must cause their importance to us to decrease. The only thing that truly matters is whether a person will accept the God who will make him holy. At all costs, a person must have the right relationship with God.

Do I believe I need to be holy? Do I believe that God can come into me and make me holy? I believe I am now a crossroads for people by the naturalness of my spiritual living. If through our preaching we convince others that they are unholy, they then resent our preaching. The preaching of the gospel awakens an intense resentment because it is designed to reveal our unholiness, but it also awakens an intense yearning and desire within us. God has only one intended destiny for mankind - holiness. His only goal is to produce saints. God is not some eternal blessing-machine for people to use, and He did not come to save us out of pity - He came to save us because He created us to be holy. Atonement through the Cross of Christ means that God can put me back into perfect oneness with Himself through the death of Jesus Christ, without a trace of anything coming between us any longer.

Never tolerate, because of sympathy for yourself or for others, any practice that is not in keeping with a holy God. Holiness means absolute purity of our walk before God, the words coming from our mouth, and every thought in our mind - placing every detail of our life under the scrutiny of God Himself. Holiness is not simply what God gives me, but what God has given me that is being exhibited in my life.

Awe is the condition of a man’s spirit realizing Who God is and what He has done for him personally. Our Lord emphasizes the attitude of a child; no attitude can express such solemn awe and familiarity as that of a child. In this we can be in a tin can and we are satisfied for we have what we need within us always - His grace and love and personal relationship wholly sound and delivered.

I will pray for God's movement in your life...May God richly Bless you Tourist.

Ps). I went to Disney World and Disney-Land and Disney-World is far better! LOL :)..

Your literary skills are exemplary as well as your spiritual wisdom and practical application of God's word in our everyday lives. I have never been to Disneyland but my daughter has and she agrees with you that Disney World is the better theme park experience. She grew up on Walt Disney World through her early years and loves the place. She thinks it's awesome. I hope to take my grandchildren there one day. The only one who has been there was my first grandchild but I have 4 others too that must be spoiled. Just kidding about the spoiled part (I think). :)

Well I am back from my excursion into the next county. Other than being sleepy, I am ready for the rest of the day. Too late for a nap, so I'll just have to brace for it. Chin up, quit yawning, that's it.

David said in Psalm 121:1 "I will lift up my eyes to the hills from where my help cometh from ; my help cometh from the LORD..." May the Lord be ur Helper in all that u are going through or doing this day in Jesus Name. May He vindicate u from every unseen battle or satanic trap this season in Jesus Name. May the Lord cause u to smile and testify His goodness this day in Jesus Name. Have a blessed and fulfilled day. Shalom

Hi Jerry,

I used to live in FL. I went to high school in Miami Beach (early 70's) and lived in the Venice-Englewood area (So. of Sarasota) for a couple of years (in the early 80's). I am glad I don't live in FL anymore. It is a nice place to visit but the traffic and politics and over population have ruined it for me.

I think Tennessee may a good state to retire to. I like that area of the country. If you can afford to move, why wait a few a years to do so? It is likely you will be able to pick up a job equal to or better than your current one. Plus you will have that many more years to enjoy the state. Why wait until your health deteriorates to make such a move?

"Glorious Heavenly Father, I come to you on behalf of Jerry and Darlene. I pray you will bless them with yourself. Draw them close into your will and your love and your truth, wisdom and joy. Make it clear to them if and when they should move and where to move to. I pray that you would bless the entire move process and be glorified in it. Let them move to a place just right for them. Lead them to know your will about that matter and grant them health to not only make the move easily but to enjoy the area after their move. I pray your blessing on them forever, in the name of your precious one and only Son, Messiah Jesus. Amen"

I’m surprised at the amount of some people not liking Trump.... he’s one of the most vocalist Presidents I’ve ever heard to speak publicly about Jesus..... 👍🏽

Just for that, I thought Christians would have loved him, but strange the reverse is true.
I would understand it when none Christians hate him that much. If all leaders of the world talked about God only 1/10th of what Donald Trump does
