I was using that parable to answer the smart guy who accused my of saying that we are saved by tithing. I thought a silly question deserved a silly answer, so of' course I don't believe that a saved person can lose their salvation.
You're backpedaling, trying to cover your mistake.

A person who doesn't give generously to God is not saved anyway, it's evident.
Absolutely not true. What saves a person is faith in Jesus Christ.

Does God want us to give? Yes. But a person's salvation is not dependent on it.

God's people obey Him, so you can tell the false professors. They don't obey God, they are only in it for what they can get out of God. They don't want to serve Him
I don't think I've ever seen a person more scattered in his thoughts. You're also quite the accuser, Danny.

So now we've gone from saved by works to saved by tithe?:LOL::LOL:(n)
I'm sure you're fully aware that's salvation is not just walking the isle and repeating some words. Faith without works is dead , right? so you would agree with me that we must do good works if we are saved.
Don't flip it on it axis and make it say, you are saved by doing works. You know that it's you do works because you are saved. I'm glad we cleared that up

I never said we were saved by works, I said we do works because we are saved. The unbeliever won't do good works because there's no good in his heart. You only do what's in your heart, if the Holy Spirit is in your heart you will give generously and you can't argue with the truth of the Gospel

giving generously, is not paying tithe!
OK, I take it you give more than just the regular tithe. If so I solute you, because that's more Biblical than just tithing. We are called to give as much as possible, because the need is great in the world. Children are starving at the rate of 20,000 per day while we enjoy all the luxuries and take them for granted.

Some people study the Bible all their lives and go to Church and give generously and do so many good things and they end up in eternal torment in hell.
Studying the Bible will avail you nothing, it will actually damn you more because God will hold you more accountable.
God is not impressed whit how smart you think you are, or how well you think you know the scriptures. Satan knows the Bible better than any person who ever lived and so do many other Devils who attended Church their whole lives.
Remember the thief on the cross, he knew nothing about the scriptures and he was saved. God looks at your heart, He's no respecter of persons, He's not impressed with you IQ score.
You are puffed up with pride, but remember pride comes before the big fall
Your ignorance is to your detriment. The statement in bold is the stupidest thing I have read on this site. Your deception is deep and getting deeper.

As for the rest of your tirades, you have made a fundamental error: believing that "Not tithing" is the same thing as "not giving at all". As I stated earlier, this is false. I financially support my local church ministry. I don't "tithe". You have no idea how much I give, and I won't be telling you, because it is absolutely none of your business. Just drop it. Start reading the Bible for yourself so you know when your pastor is out to lunch, as he is on this matter.

It really seems to me that you brought this subject up because either you want to justify yourself, or you want to browbeat others. As your position is indefensible, all you are doing is showing your ignorance, self-righteous attitude, and condemnatory agenda. By the way, stop trumpeting your giving. There is no reward for it. Read Matthew 5-7 on that.

Then go and read Galatians in its entirety, with specific attention given to chapter 5. Let us know what it tells you about the Law and about your attitude.

I'm really glad to hear that, may the Lord bless you even more than ever before.
He has also blessed my finances more than I ever deserved, and I'm about to inherit again so I have decided to give my Church 10% of what I receive because I believe it is Biblical.

Amen.

Let each one give according to his conscience, as the Lord leads and guides.

Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith,
1 Timothy 1:5

Please know there are many worthy ministries that need our help, as well.

I know the Lord will bless you.

Amen

So you didn't like that bold statement because it blew your security blanket off and left you exposed.
Jesus never preached that reading the Bible will save you or make you any better than a murderer or thief. Satan knew the Bible a million times better than you and look where he's going. If you think that studying the Bible will save you, then you're in for a rude shock.
The Roman Catholic church only gave the Bible to the public around 500 years ago, before that nobody knew anything about it so do you think those people deserve judgement for their lack of knowledge. No God will hold you more accountable because you puffed yourself up to be a wise guy who knows his Bible better than the next guy.
In any case I have a shepherd who studies the Bible every day and night, he tells me everything I need to know about it and he is qualified unlike you, a self appointed expert.

It's absurd to tell us that all we need to do is confess to do those 2 commandments then go out and live like Devils and think we're going to fool God with our false profession.
You'll get a rude shock if you think that's all you need to do, we need to live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God, and endure to the end. You don't get saved until you finish working really hard through your whole life.
well listen up: if you adhere those 2 commandments you will not
do anything other than that like purposely sin or abandon God's
will in any way.

A lot of adults just don't know to save money now days. We don't get cash on pay day and have to hang on to it 'till more comes in. Now we have credit which allows us to spend more than we make. Many can't see how illogical and immoral the system is, so they never learned to put money aside. It may be a sin to be so irresponsible. Some folks just don't know how.

It is certainly not a sign of spiritual growth, and I'm sure many feel bad about it..There it is the human [sin] element, they can't help it. Should we keep them out of church? NO!

Many will come to Him on that day saying Lord, Lord haven't we healed the sick and cast out Demons and done many wonders in your name and He will declare to them. Go into the everlasting lake of fire, you workers of iniquity for I never knew you.

If you don't give your money generously to God, He will say I never knew you. You didn't feed me when I was hungry, greed is a grievous sin.
Wow dude, you need to get in the word more, and stop listening to these people who have led you wrong

Our pastor is not demanding anything, he presented his sermon in a very Biblical way. He demonstrated from many different texts that giving to God is very important, so much so that IN THE NT God killed a married couple to demonstrate His hatred of greedy people.

And let's not forget that we aren't to throw the whole old testament in the trash can. There are some things which we we don't need to adhere to but there's a whole lot that still applies to us.
Goving to god is biblical

Tithing is not

He killed thise people because hey led and said they gave when they did not, he did not bring them home because the did not tithe, you have been led astray by false teachers my friend, recommend you run! Fast!

2 Corinthians 9:7 King James Version (KJV)
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

,

In essence, it is paradoxical to the natural mind. To give leads to increase? How? If I give, I am losing something. This is subtraction. Yet God says in His word to give and you will receive. These are principles of faith, lived by they shall prosper a person. Multiplication and not subtraction. Therefore, to give is good stewardship because giving leads to more, and you can be blessed to be a blessing and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
To the natural mind, to the natural way of thinking, this is as you say, contradictory to common sense. You do not have more by giving stuff away. But!! Jesus is the minister of our seed. He gives us the seed to sow. Right? And Christians ARE a sowing and, reaping people. Tithing is simply a way of sowing seed for a harvest. We plant, refusing to eat our seed, we then expect a harvest promised by the Word, and receive it...That is to say, we receive it if we do not kill the crop by our negative words.
Many say, 'there is nothing in the New Covenant that says we have to tithe, and maybe not as clear as the Old Covenant, but the principle is still in play. You give your ten percent and you reap a harvest. That has not changed. I love the way that works. Don't you?

So, now read what you just wrote, they were not killed for failure to tithe. Quit trying to make it sound as if they were.

ok ... guys

not reprimanding anyone in this thread responding to danny, but it's not funny anymore

apparently this is what has been taught and what he believes

of course we should tithe (though not for the cause of salvation or gain)

we should pay taxes

donate to those in need (including if not especially congregations)

feed anyone who asks if we are able

and do so happily

it is God who provides us with what we have...

sharing it for Him should be an honor even if it means we have less or sometimes even go without

You dont think that unbelievers are capable of doing good works ?
my hubby is an unbeliever and he does plenty of good works , helps people , loves his family , donates to charities , helps our neighbours etc etc

Thats why we should be careful about pointing fingers and fruit inspecting , you never know for sure

oh and tithing is an Old Covenant command , New Covenant believers are to give generously as others have said

I was about to reply to your PM, but it seems you immediately blocked receiving PM's.

Why?

We all believe the things we were taught and/or have been able to figure out from the scriptures.

It does not mean we're all right in what we believe. This is BDF. Its purpose is to discuss the Bible. Are we supposed to just let some people slide without pointing out their inconsistencies or areas where we think they're wrong?

Have you ever gotten hungry at work Danny but you were broke? You had mishandled your money and you felt bad about it, not just because you were hungry but because you felt foolish. People go to church feeling like every week.
