Anaheim, Cali.
i THINK THE BETTER QUESTION IS HOW MUCH IS THE DATE GOING TO COST? I'd want to know that before I tried to decide who's going to pay. I used to be able to take a lady to a movie and a reasonable dinner for $30 now a movie for 2 w/snacks will cost that much. Add spagetti, gelato and some cheap wine $100. A whole days pay? Wow.

If the gentleman asked me out. Expectations would be, he covers the check. If I asked him on a date, I would most certainly pay. If we were together for as long as write suggests in his scenario. We would most likely share the costs, or take turns.
Old school the gentleman always covered the check. In away, I would think it was the gentlemen way, but also showed he could care for his future mate. Back then most women did not earn an income.

Yup...NOW women have to do everything..work..take care of the home..children and her man...i think i liked it in the 50s where the woman had enough on her plate with house kids n man without having a job outside the home on TOP of all that ;(

Understandably for some a two income home is a necessity, for many it is a choice they make so they can afford a nicer house, nicer cars, etc.

Agreed. Many live above their means and desire more. I thank the Lord, I'm not tempted by such vises. I find contentment in simple pleasures and a simple life. Besides I don't want to have to keep all of it clean. 😂 ( bigger the house, the more one has to clean) takes away from my fun time.

I'd say none!!!! The best dates are sitting at home snuggling and watching TV or a good movie.

Most of the time we just talk and it makes you feel very connected to each other. Plus, we both hate spending money lol

On a first date you take them home and snuggle? Cause that's the question in the OP.

If a person invites me to a sports bar on the first date and he watches Ice hockey or even worse, American football on the date, he'd better be paying both for the food and me. I am charging by the hour. (No. It doesn't make me a prostitute. I wouldn't have gone on that date if I knew)

I think that’s what you call economy crises.

So you’d do this on the first date? Snuggle and watch tv? Lol. Personally, I wouldn’t but each to their own.

What would you say if you (a single working mom) were engaged to a man (with adult children) and he often let you pay for coffee, dinner, and outings? Or he conveniently forgets his wallet? When my oldest daughters were dating, their boyfriend/fiance would fill up their gas tanks if they drove to meet them, would slip money into their purses if they made a home-cooked meal for the two of them and would NEVER allow them to pay for a thing.

Over half the people who voted in the poll say the man should pay. You people need to catch up with 2018.

In the old days when guys worked and women stayed home, yes, the man should pay.

These days, women work and so should pay their own expenses.

Due to oppression and discrimination, man make less money today than they made 30 years ago. Increases in productivity should have resulted in men making many times what they use to make, but no.

I just noticed the poll has an “other option”.
Urm wondering what this is, Oh I know maybe the
couple just runs out and legs it without paying! Lol

I'll be honest, it is quite a conundrum, a pickle of a deal, lol. I don't want to establish a mindset that I am the financial provider, just as I imagine a fella doesn't want to be considered a potential meal ticket.

I prefer a man to pay for the most part, not expecting reciprocation, (you know what I mean). I want to be courted and pampered, even as a ripe older lady. With that said, I think the woman should think of ways, other than copulation, lol, to show her dating mate her affections and appreciation.

If a Christian man is to be the leader, the protector and the provider, then a woman should be ready to be a help mate, in all ways. So yes, paying here and there on a date, or getting him a thoughtful present, demonstrates a true servant mindset, which is exactly what we, both genders, all want, for ourselves and eachother, right?
