The Bible speaks of three doctrines, The doctrine of Christ, Doctrine of Man and the doctrine of the devil
The doctrine of devils is easily discerned but the doctrine of man is more difficult,
How do we recognise the doctrine of man to warn other believers

I'd suggest that's fairly easy: you look for what is taught by men but not supported by Scripture. Of course, there are a lot of doctrines taught by men that are "supported" by Scripture... sort of... (I could start a list, but someone would disagree with it and take this thread sideways).

The solution? Teach the doctrines of Christ. :)

If we follow the words of Messiah we are on the right path, the narrow path.

John 14:21, “he who possesses My commands and guards them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I shall love him and manifest Myself to him.”

John 4:23-26, “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father also does seek such to worship Him. YHWH is Spirit, and those who worship Him need to worship in spirit and truth. The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming, the One who is called Christ. When that One comes, He shall tell us all things.” יהושע said to her, “I who am speaking to you is He.”

Mat 7:24-27, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does them, shall be like a wise man who built his house on the rock, and the rain came down, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does not do them, shall be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand, and the rain came down, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and they beat on that house, and it fell, and great was its fall.”

1 John 3:24, “And the one guarding His commands stays in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He stays in us, by the Spirit which He gave us.”

John/Yahanan 12:48, "He who rejects Me, and does not follow My words has One Who judges him. The word that I have spoken, the same will be used to judge him in the last day."

John 13:35, “By this shall all know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

John/Yahanan 14:6, "Yahshua proclaimed to him: I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes to the Father, except through Me."

John/Yahanan 10:16, "And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to My voice. So there will be one flock, one Shepherd (4166 – poimén)."

Mat 24:35, “Heaven and earth may pass away, but My teachings will not pass away.”

John/Yahanan 14:26, “But the Comforter; the Holy Spirit which YHWH will send in My Name will teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatever I (Yahshua/Jesus) have said to you.”

John/Yahanan 6:63, “It is the Spirit that gives life; the flesh is useless. The words (Instructions) that I (Yahshua/Jesus) speak to you, they are Spirit, and they are life everlasting.”

John 14:23-24, “יהושע answered him, “If anyone loves Me, he shall guard My Word. And My Father shall love him, and We shall come to him and make Our home with him. He who does not love Me does not guard My Words. And the Word which you hear is not Mine but of the Father Who sent Me.”

continued, This shows by the word of YHWH that the Messiah is THE ONE we MUST hear and obey:

Acts 7:37-38, “This is the Mosheh who said to the children of Yisra’yl, ‘יהוה your Mighty One shall raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brothers. Him you shall hear.’ This is he who was in the assembly in the wilderness with the Messenger who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, who received the living Words to give to us.”

John/Yahanan 5:46-47, "For had you believed Mosheh, you would have believed Me, for he wrote about Me*. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?"

*Mosheh wrote:

Deuteronomy 18:18-19, “I (YHWH) will raise up for them a Prophet (Yahshua/Jesus) like you from among their brothers, and I will put My words in His mouth, and He will tell them everything I command Him. Whoever will not listen to My words, which He speaks in My Name, I will judge him for it.”

"listen" is word #8085 - שָׁמַעshama` {shaw-mah'}

Brown-Driver-Briggs (Old Testament Hebrew-English Lexicon)
A primitive root; to hear intelligently (often with implication of attention, obedience, etc.; causatively to tell, etc.)

Hebrew Word Study (Transliteration-Pronunciation Etymology & Grammar) - 1) to hear, listen to, obey

John/Yahanan 12:48, “He who rejects Me, and does not follow My words has One Who judges him. The word that I have spoken, the same will be used to judge him in the last day.”

Acts 3:19-23, “Repent therefore and turn back, for the blotting out of your sins, in order that times of refreshing might come from the presence of the Master, and that He sends יהושע Messiah, pre-appointed for you, whom heaven needs to receive until the times of restoration of all matters, of which the Mighty One spoke through the mouth of all His set-apart prophets since of old. For Mosheh truly said to the fathers, ‘יהוה your Mighty One shall raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brothers. Him you shall hear according to all matters, whatever He says to you. And it shall be that every being who does not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.”

John 8:24, “Therefore I said to you that you shall die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I am He, you shall die in your sins.”

A few Scriptual examples of man made religion:

Mat 15:3-9, “But He answering, said to them, “Why do you also transgress the command of YHWH because of your tradition? For YHWH has commanded, saying, ‘Respect your father and your mother,’ ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me has been dedicated, is certainly released from respecting his father or mother.’ So you have nullified the command of YHWH by your tradition."Hypocrites! Well did Isayah (29:13-14*) prophesy of you, saying: These people draw near to Me with their mouth and honor Me with their lips, but have removed their hearts far from Me. But in vain they do worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men."

*Isayah 29:13-14, "Therefore YHWH said: Because these people draw near to Me with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but have removed their hearts far from Me, and their reverence to Me is taught by the precept of men; Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people; a marvelous work and a wonder; for the wisdom of their wise men will perish, and the understanding of their prudent men, will be hid."

Judges 17:6, "In those days there was no sovereign in Yisra’ĕl – everyone did what was right in his own eyes”

Deuteronomy 12:8, “Do not do as we are doing here today – each one doing whatever is right in his own eyes.”

2 Kings 17:19, “Yehuḏah, also, did not guard the commands of יהוה their Strength, but walked in the laws of Yisra’yl which they made.”

Judges 21:25, “In those days there was no sovereign in Yisra’yl – everyone did what was right in his own eyes.”

Yeah that is a very simple a straight forward saying!

I want to illustrate a little:

So Yah prepares a path for us, like Yahshua says He is the door He is that WAY:

John 10:9, “I am the door. Whoever enters through Me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and shall go out and find pasture.”

door” is word #2374 - thura: a door, Original Word: θύρα, ας, ἡ, Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine, Transliteration: thura, Phonetic Spelling: (thoo'-rah), Short Definition: a door, opportunity, Definition: (a) a door, (b) met: an opportunity.

once we go through that "door" we are on His "path" or "gate" in this translation;

Mat 7:13-14, “Enter in through the narrow gate! Because the gate is wide – and the way is broad – that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter in through it. Because the gate is narrow and the way is hard pressed which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

gate” is word # 4439 - pulé: a gate, Original Word: πύλη, ης, ἡ, Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine, Transliteration: pulé, Phonetic Spelling: (poo'-lay), Short Definition: a door, gate, Definition: a gate.

The "narrow path/gate"

Psalms 118:19-22, “Open to me the gates of righteousness; I enter through them, I thank Yah. This is the gate of יהוה, The righteous enter through it. I thank You, For You have answered me, And have become my salvation. The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief corner-stone.”

His way is right no matter what we think, and many choose their own way,

Judges 17:6, "In those days there was no sovereign in Yisra’ĕl – everyone did what was right in his own eyes”

Deuteronomy 12:8, “Do not do as we are doing here today – each one doing whatever is right in his own eyes.”

But again HIS WAY is right, yet man self justifies and finds ways to go away from Him while claiming they are "jusified" or in the right:

Luke 16:14-17, "14 And the Pharisees, who loved silver, also heard all this, and were sneering at Him,"15 so He said to them, “You are those who declare yourselves righteous before men, but Elohim knows your hearts, because what is highly thought of among men is an abomination in the sight of Elohim."16 “The Torah and the prophets are until Yoḥanan. Since then the reign of Elohim is being announced, and everyone is doing violenceb upon it. (Eze 22:26, Zep 3:4.) 17 “And it is easier for the heaven and the earth to pass away than for one tittle of the Torah to fall."

Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you”

Proverbs 3:5-7, “Trust in יהוה with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; Know Him in all your ways, And He makes all your paths straight Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear יהוה and turn away from evil.”

Here is another example of how much man can twist what Yah says in order to feed their own desires, this is a bit complex but vital to understanding Yahshua's dealings with the pharisees and insight to modern religions and religious people that are indeed in the same fashion as the pharisees:

1 John 5:2-3, “By this we know that we love the children of Yah, when we love Yah and guard His commands. For this is the love for Yah, that we guard His commands, and His commands are not heavy.”

Mat 23:4, “For they (the pharisees not YHWH) bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders, but with their finger they do not wish to move them.”

How do they “bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders, but with their finger they do not wish to move them?”

New International Version - Mat 23:2-3, "The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach."

King James Bible - Mat 23:2-3, "Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not."

Shem Tob's Hebrew Mattithyah - Mat 23:2-3, "The Pharisees and Sages sit upon the seat of Mosheh. Therefore, all that he (Mosheh) says to you, diligently do, but according to their takanot (reforms) and their ma'asim (precedents) do not do, because they talk (Torah) but they do not do."

Takanot: rabbinical reforms or enactments that falsely change or add to YHWH's Law.

Ma'asim: acts or deeds that serve as precedents for rabbinic law.

Both Takanot and Ma'asim are laws of the Talmud. The Savior said this to the Pharisees;

Mat 23:8, “But you, do not be called ‘Rabbi, (master)’ for One is your Master, the Messiah, and you are all brothers.”

This next reading is to get an idea of the mindset of the Pharisees, rabbis, etc. So we can later understand their dealing with the name of the Most High;

Talmud - Mas. Baba Metzia 59b

We learnt elsewhere: If he cut it into separate tiles, placing sand between each tile: R. Eliezer declared it clean, and the Sages declared it unclean; and this was the oven of ‘Aknai.1 Why [the oven of] ‘Aknai? — Said Rab Judah in Samuel's name: [It means] that they encompassed it with arguments2 as a snake, and proved it unclean. It has been taught: On that day R. Eliezer brought forward every imaginable argument ,3 but they did not accept them. Said he to them: ‘If the halachah agrees with me, let this carob-tree prove it!’ Thereupon the carob-tree was torn a hundred cubits out of its place — others affirm, four hundred cubits. ‘No proof can be brought from a carob-tree,’ they retorted. Again he said to them: ‘If the halachah agrees with me, let the stream of water prove it!’ Whereupon the stream of water flowed backwards — ‘No proof can be brought from a stream of water,’ they rejoined. Again he urged: ‘If the halachah agrees with me, let the walls of the schoolhouse prove it,’ whereupon the walls inclined to fall. But R. Joshua rebuked them, saying: ‘When scholars are engaged in a halachic dispute, what have ye to interfere?’ Hence they did not fall, in honour of R. Joshua, nor did they resume the upright, in honour of R. Eliezer; and they are still standing thus inclined. Again he said to them: ‘If the halachah agrees with me, let it be proved from Heaven!’ Whereupon a Heavenly Voice cried out: ‘Why do ye dispute with R. Eliezer, seeing that in all matters the halachah agrees with him!’ But R. Joshua arose and exclaimed: ‘It is not in heaven.’4 What did he mean by this? — Said R. Jeremiah: That the Torah had already been given at Mount Sinai; we pay no attention to a Heavenly Voice, because Thou hast long since written in the Torah at Mount Sinai, After the majority must one incline.5R. Nathan met Elijah6 and asked him: What did the Holy One, Blessed be He, do in that hour? — He laughed [with joy], he replied, saying, ‘My sons have defeated Me, My sons have defeated Me.’ It was said: On that day all objects which R. Eliezer had declared clean were brought and burnt in fire.7 Then they took a vote and excommunicated him.

The so called "rabbis" and Pharisees interpret Scripture by something called Midrashic interpretation, which ignores language and ignores context. They say Scripture is a divine code and only the rabbis have the knowledge to decipher that divine code. Here is an ACTUAL example of Midrashic interpretation used by the rabbis:

Exodus 23:2, “Do not follow a crowd to do evil, nor bear witness in a strife so as to turn aside after many, to turn away from what is right.”

They take Exodus 23:2, "Do not follow the crowd in doing evil. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd."

After Midrashic interpretation is applied, they come out with : "follow the crowd." (After the majority must one incline - seen in above reading)

Thus even when one disagrees or knows something is wrong he must, "follow the crowd," or as the Talmud puts it in Baba Metzia 59b (above), "after the majority must one incline."

Deuteronomy 30:11-13, "For this Law which I command you this day is not hidden from you, nor is it beyond your reach. It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask; Who will ascend up into heaven for us, and bring it to us, so that we may hear it and then do it? Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask; Who will cross the sea, and bring it to us, so that we may hear it and then do it?"

After Midrashic interpretation is applied, they come out with : "‘It is not in heaven.’4 What did he mean by this? — Said R. Jeremiah: That the Torah had already been given at Mount Sinai; we pay no attention to a Heavenly Voice" (Baba Metzia 59b)

Deuteronomy 4:2, "You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor shall you take anything from it, so that you may keep the Laws of YHWH your Father which I command you."

Matt 23:33, "Serpents! Brood of vipers! How will you escape the sentence of Gehenna?"

Yahshua EXPOSED the Pharisees and their false religious system EVERY CHANCE HE GOT. He did not sit by and let people lies many need to re-read the words of the Messiah, and see how He tore apart the lies of the accepted religious system of that day every chance He had, Is it possible we today have the same issue, where main stream religions are teaching tradition rather than truth?

Makes me feel like the real reason they wanted a physical "king" was because they did not want to follow YHWH:

1 Samuyl 8:7-20," YHWH answered Samuyl, and said: Listen to all the words the people speak to you, for they have not rejected you; they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them..."

2 Kings 17:19, “Yehuḏah, also, did not guard the commands of יהוה their Strength, but walked in the laws of Yisra’yl which they made.”

Acts 5:29, "And Kĕpha and the other emissaries answering, said, “We have to obey YHWH rather than men.”

I find it comical that these three doctrines can exist using the same text. Christ says one thing, man interprets it carnally, missing intent and the devil can take those exact words and put a spin on it to make it mean something else.

Just look how much arguing there is at CC regarding doctrine of Christ. There are as many interpretations of Scripture as there are members. That’s why actions will testify more than words. When Christ commanded to keep His words, He didn’t mean write it down in a book, He meant to physically act on them.

Hi Mystic7, as others have already pointed out, you need to know and understand the doctrines of Christ and Biblical truth in general well enough to recognize any teaching that opposes it (and why it does, and how to respond to it .. cf 1 Peter 3:15). Here is one example from the Bible that comes to mind:

.........Colossians 2
.........20 If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit
.........yourself to decrees, such as,

.........21 Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!”
.........22 (which all refer to things destined to perish with use)—in accordance with the doctrines of men?

.........23 These are matters which have, to be sure, the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and self-abasement and severe
.........treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence.

And here's a real life scenario to consider. This is from the teachings of a contemporary cult that goes by the name of The Church of Almighty God, aka Eastern Lightning. They teach that Jesus has already returned to Earth and is living in China as we speak, but "He" is a "She" this time around , or so they say anyway ;)

Well, that definitely seems like man-made doctrines to me (or worse), so how would you counter their doctrines with the doctrines of Christ, to help someone who is considering following Eastern Lightning understand why they are so very wrong/how what they teach opposes Biblical truth?
(here's one hint, their "aka" name is taken from Matthew 24:27 because they are from China/from the "east", but what they teach about it is hardly keeping with the teaching of Christ that it is taken from).

~Deut
p.s. - BTW, if some of their followers have not yet arrived at CC, they will be soon, as I've seen them show up on various Christian forums over the last couple of years (so this could become a very good thing to know :)).

To put it simply, what Biblical arguments would you use to prove that the Eastern Lightning teachings that, 1. Jesus has already returned to Earth and 2. He returned as a woman this time, are false teachings/doctrines of men?

The doctrine of Man is similar to the doctrine of demons, it's just more deceptive. If it's not of God, it is influenced by demons.

I would suggest two .One the doctrines of God that fall like rain (representing the water of the word )falling from heaven to indicate the gospel hid in parables .And two the doctrines of the god of this world earthly inspired by the fathers of lies.

Deuteronomy 32:2 My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:

The doctrines of the father of lies are worked out using men as oral traditions or commandments of men who are influenced and led by Satan the spirit(singular) of the antichrists (many).

James 3:15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

We are given a great example using Peter who did blaspheme the Holy name of God violating the first commandment not to have no other gods before our living God not seen.

Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.Mathew 16:22-23

Most of paraphrasers must of been influenced in they way of Catholicism, (Phariseeism) even in the King James just like that accredited to the old testament Jew turning things upside down in order to take away the understanding of God .The verse gives the illusion things are inspired from earth as that which is be bound in heaven .

And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.Mathew 16:19

And again turning things upside down in chapter 18

Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Matthew 18:18

It is corrected in other paraphrases

and I will give to thee the keys of the reign of the heavens, and whatever thou mayest bind upon the earth shall be having been bound in the heavens, and whatever thou mayest loose upon the earth shall be having been loosed in the heavens.'Mathew 16:19 Youngs literal

I will give to you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven; and whatever you release on earth will have been released in heaven.” Mathew 16:19 World English Bible

First thing first.

The doctrine of devils is easily discerned but the doctrine of man is more difficult,
How do we recognise the doctrine of man to warn other believers
The Doctrine of God is what the Bible actually says.
The Doctrine of men is what people interpret the Bible to mean.
The Doctrine of satan is doctrine that is contrary to a verse in the Bible.

For example:

The Doctrine of God does not teach anywhere once a person is SAVED they are Always SAVED.
The Doctrine of Men interprets some verses to mean that they are Always Saved.
The Doctrine of satan teaches OSAS yet there are many verses which absolutely contradict that belief.

Scriptures teach that interpretations belong to God, NOT TO MEN. Therefore any interpretations that come from men, is a doctrine of men. God reveals to whom God will reveal. But woe to that person who think they can interpret the Word of God, as if they had the authority to do so.

For example, i know the 144,000 that are sealed by God are children. i have in no way interpreted this information myself, God plainly and clearly showed me that in a vision when i was young. God reveals interpretations to whom God will reveal them. But woe to people of this generation who take it upon themselves to interpret the Word of God, how is that not their own private interpretations?

God knows the mind of God, but woe to those people who go about to interpret the Word of God via their own intellect, as if man could possibly know the mind of God, or even understand the interpretations thereof. God will reveal to whom God will reveal.

False doctrines arise daily because men take it upon themselves to interpret the Word of God, as if they actually could do so, and then worse yet, teach others what they THINK is the Truth, based on their OWN interpretations, which they are NOT suppose to do.

Doctrines of men are interpretations of men. PERIOD!

Since the doctrine of Christ is that whosoever commits sin is of the devil, then why is it so difficult to discern between the doctrine of men and the doctrine of devils?

If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. John 7:17

It is written that Jesus said the doctrine he brought was not his doctrine but the doctrine of him who sent him, so any man who abides not in the doctrine of Christ abides in the doctrine of the devils who do the lusts of their father who was a liar from the beginning who abode not in the truth.

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; Eph 4:14

I find it comical that these three doctrines can exist using the same text. Christ says one thing, man interprets it carnally, missing intent and the devil can take those exact words and put a spin on it to make it mean something else.
Doctrine of Christ: 2 John 9

Doctrines of men: Col 2:22

Doctrines of devils; 1 Tim 4:1

Just look how much arguing there is at CC regarding doctrine of Christ. There are as many interpretations of Scripture as there are members. That’s why actions will testify more than words. When Christ commanded to keep His words, He didn’t mean write it down in a book, He meant to physically act on them.
Nice visiting with you.

Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 1 Tim 2:4

Per your example. John 3:16 states that whosoever believes in Him (Jesus) would not perish, but have everlasting life.

The doctrine, or interpretation, of God, would show the difference between "everlasting", which is a period of eternity from "point A" to "point B" (One "could" insert Revelation 12:1-9 right here, as "point A", in "an everlasting" With "point B", as Genesis 1:2- And the earth "became" without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep.) (And Genesis 1:3 being "point A" of this "current everlasting", with every kneed bowing and every tongue confessing that Jesus is the Christ, as "point B". which hasn't happened yet! While, the doctrine of "instead of" Christ, would confuse everlasting to mean, "eternal", or "forever", which it is not!
