I cant offer much in that area. But I recommend the book A Grief Observed by C S Lewis. It's his personal history of the time after his wife's death.
It's a tiny book, and not meant to be a self help book, but his insights can still be helpful.

GOD bless you, saying " sorry for your loss " helps but really doesn't help the pain. I know this is a trying time for you so whenever you feel like you cant take another step, reach for GODs hand. focus on him and find comfort. the grief of the loss of a loved one is not easily overcome. Don't keep it inside, reach out to friends and family. people who can help you. As you mentioned, someone who can relate to what your going through. I will send GOD a prayer for you. Bless you.

We just had a young man in our church lose his wife. It was sudden and certainly unexpected. They are true Christians but it is always hard to lose a spouse.

It's a long process and it's ok to grieve. Many tears and heart break lie ahead. One day they will bring joy but now they can only be received with patience.

I was newly widowed too less than a month before I joined this wonderful site. I will not say any trite words of condolence to you such as he is in a better place but only let you know that you are not alone in this as there are a few others whose spouse has died too. On a positive not I will say that I met my current wife on this site who is also a member. God closed one chapter of my book and then opened another. The grieving process is extremely hard to go through alone and isolated. I pray that you find comfort, support and understanding from the members of this site. There are many that are willing to listen patiently and attentively and offer prayers and words of encouragement. Glad to have you as a member of our family. Welcome to CC.

Thank you again, for the warm welcome! It's been roughly 22 years since I have been in a chat room, so this is kind of "all new" to me again. SweetMorningDew, is there a Bereavement forum? I'm still trying to navigate my way around this site!
Have a wonderful day in the Lord! :giggle:

It is exactly as you have said "Taste and see the goodness of the Lord". You wrote special heartfelt words of encouragement to this new member who is hurting badly inside. God Bless You. :)

Not a bereavement forum but there is a prayer forum and a family forum where you may turn to for prayer and encouragement. The best way to navigate this site is to simply start clicking on anything that you see and see what happens. I have been a member for well over 4 years and I still don't know everything but I know enough to get by. I will say though that the best in-depth conversations take place in the forums rather than the chat rooms. Depending on the forum and topic and time of day you can often get a reply in minutes. The forums are very much like a real-time ongoing conversation. Feel free to start your own thread on any topic you chose. The most friendly and encouraging forum is the Singles Forum. There are many threads going on at any given time. Looking forward to your posts and pray for all of God's best for you.

Tourist, your knowledge of the forums vs chat rooms is very helpful. I feel like such a newbie, but I also look forward to learning and becoming connected with other Christ followers! :)

Thank you, Roger... My husband also passed suddenly and totally unexpected, so I am still in shock. However, I cry out to God everyday...ALL day, and He brings me comfort through my mourning; and I am looking forward to that joy in my heart again.

Thank you for the reference; I am a big fan of C.S. Lewis!

Tourist, thank you for your very encouraging words of hope to me...it is well received. Praise God, that He had mercy on you and blessed you with your new wife. It is because I have felt isolated (mostly by my own choice...not having the strength to talk to friends or family), and that is why I feel God has led me to this site. It is a little easier here, and I am receiving godly information and advice from you all. Thank you again...God bless your ministry here!
