My head is a sphere...more or less

and I promise you that I have a face on it too

"Mother Earth" is not Biblical, nor does scripture equate earth to a woman.

Indeed God determined it's measurements He alone stretched the line upon it. Though that doesn't mean man wasn't aloud to travel it's circumference. And from doing that by land sea and air. the total height and width and circumference one can know just how many miles it is from west to east north to south and the miles to the center by math indeed.

far as west is to the east if you travel east you will always be traveling east and vice verse west. But if you travel north to south you won't be traveling north for ever no because you will travel over the top of the earth and then descend down to the south and vise versa. This alone tells of a sphere ball shape planet you can always go one direction side to side on a ball and still be moving right or left but you can't do the same north to south you will go up the ball than back down the ball on the other side.
It is obvious you have not researched this. Please, I don't mean to offend, but I can tell you haven't. No one has ever circumnavigated the earth north to south.

Is the earth flat because people in Cape Canaveral Florida watched the NASA space launches ascend into the heavens?

And you as well, people have been traveling the globe for quite awhile now, yes the size of the earth is known. Yes people have gone around the whole earth, the space station travels around the earth everyday and yes at certain times at the right Moment you can see the space station at night in the sky traveling.

We are having conversations on computers manmade that everyone around the world can join in. We have trains planes and automobiles manmade, air conditioning in house all kinds of technology we use on a daily base but can't know how far across the globe is. Yea Ok. this ball earth we stand on is so huge your mind can't comprehend your standing on a ball for your brain does not have the dimensions of it to see it as such.

your sense of humor must have dropped off the edge of the world

who said mother earth is biblical?

anyway, neither is a flat earth :giggle:

as it is, my head is still more or less round with a face on it

and the face of the earth does not mean the earth has a face, a literal face

it's poetic language...some other term applies but I can't think of it at this moment

Revelation 20:9
Bible in Basic English
20:9 And they went up over the face of the earth, and made a circle about the tents of the saints, and the well loved town: and fire came down out of heaven for their destruction.

NASB
And they came up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, and fire came down from heaven and devoured them.

King James Bible
And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

Darby Bible Translation
And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of the heaven and devoured them.

World English Bible
They went up over the breadth of the earth, and surrounded the camp of the saints, and the beloved city. Fire came down out of heaven from God, and devoured them.

Young's Literal Translation
and they did go up over the breadth of the land, and did surround the camp of the saints, and the beloved city, and there came down fire from God out of the heaven, and devoured them;
you were pointing out that nasb is generally not great at the NT, right?

Earth is described as having a "face" throughout the Bible. If it were a sphere, where's the face?
the whole surface of the sphere. it's called geometry. or topology if you would like to get a little more precise. crazily useful stuff to know, actually.

i assume you have a face, does that mean your head is flat?

Christ was ascending up from the middle east area into the sky until a cloud took him from people's sight.

If we imagine a flat earth with a dome and heavens above it, then Christ simply ascended into heavens.

If we imagine a 21st century view of our constantly orbiting planet in the solar system inside the milky way inside the universe, such ascending up has what meaning? The heaven of God is not "up" from us. If you do not believe that Christ has his throne in our sun or some similar "cosmic" theology.

God is spirit, our imagination is physical, our physical knowledge can't explain spiritual state.

“Face” need not mean “eyes, nose and mouth”. A cube has six faces. A coin has a face value. A watch has a face.

A sphere has a face... its external surface.

I wouldn't assume anything at this point

so you're saying that on the face of things, some things have no face?

Now that I know the earth is flat, i'll never take a boat from europe to south america. EVER!
I AINT THE ONE to fall off!

On a serious note: If any flat-earther is reading this, I have a question: What is your strongest evidence that the earth is flat? Bring it.

I am asking what sense does the physical and visible ascension up makes in our world view or if it makes sense only in the ancient flat earth view.

I am debating if not only the Old Testament, but the New one also has this kind of cosmology. I am not debating if the earth is really flat or not. I have no problem with mythology in the Bible. What I want to know is if the New Testament also implies flat earth view.
Since Christ was a Spiritual being at the time of His assertion, couldn't He have appeared in their mind, and disappeared when He ascended? They were the only ones to see Him, yes?

2 Kings 6:
15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?
16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

17 And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

18 And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.

I believe God created our realm of "Time" and He lives in another realm all together that we can not see. A realm where "time" does not rule. Where there is no beginning or end. A concept our feeble minds will never be able to comprehend. So that all we know, and those things so far away we can't see them is just a globe or existence that God holds in His hands. The scriptures say there will come a time when there will be "TIME" no more. when some humans too will be allowed to "SEE" where He exists as they will become "like He is".

So for me His assentation has nothing to do with the physical earth, or planets of our existence. He manifested His Spiritual self to them is their mind, just as the servant of Elisha was allowed to see the protection God had afforded to Elisha.

Food for thought.

i've entertained that idea before, except, He proved that wasn't the case:

While they were still talking about this, Jesus Himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.
They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? Look at My hands and My feet. It is I Myself! Touch Me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” When He had said this, He showed them His hands and feet. And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, He asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and He took it and ate it in their presence.
(Luke 24:37-43)

they thought He was a ghost/spirit -- but 'food for thought' He ate a fish to demonstrate He was there in the body :)
