The problem with perfectionists is that unless they are delusional they will come to realize they're not perfect and disappoint them selves. Works are great but don't get it twisted, they won't save anybody.
Who ever said that works will save you?

but if you are not producing fruit, you can eventually lose your saved position.
(The pruning of the vine are unbelivers, God will never destroy His children, never happen, that is just a plain false statement).
Hi Benhur, not only is our eternal salvation "a gift of God", but even the Faith that we have to believe is "a gift of God." To say that we should, "work our way into God's kingdom"; is exactly the opposite of what the Gospel say's; it's like saying sweet is bitter and good is bad,

Your counterfeit gospel is an insult to our Savior who suffered a horrible and dreadful death on an instrument of torture the crucifixion. Shame on you for preaching anything other than what the bible teaches, that our "Eternal Salvation", is "a gift of God", clearly and plainly written in the "Word of God."

But please do not take my word for it read the words of Pastor John MacArthur.

Ephesians2:8,9.
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.
(2:8–9)

Ephesians2:8,9 Commentary by: Pastor/Teacher John MacArthur

"Our response in salvation is faith, but even that is not of ourselves [but is] the gift of God. Faith is nothing that we do in our own power or by our own resources. In the first place we do not have adequate power or resources. More than that, God would not want us to rely on them even if we had them. Otherwise salvation would be in part by our own works, and we would have some ground to boast in ourselves. Paul intends to emphasize that "even faith is not from us", apart from God’s giving it."

Exactly. That is why it is interesting that God is cutting off "every branch IN ME (JESUS)" for not being fruitful. Kind of like the big beautiful fig tree that had no fruit on it, and Jesus cursed it and it died.

I know it is hard to think that Jesus would cut off branches that are IN HIM, (saved people), but if these beautiful branches that are even IN HIM are not producing fruit, he will cut them off and send them away. IOW you can be saved all you want, but if you are not producing fruit, you can eventually lose your saved position.

Even saved people that are producing fruit, God will purge and prune and mold to help them produce more fruit, but if they refuse to do more, he will also cut these branches off. It is not easy to live the law of Christ. It is not easy to live a saved life that immitates Christ's fruitful life. The way is narrow and few there be that find it and stay on it.
Lol..i kinda thought we were done with topic..lol

Btw..as i posted after this one..God/Jesus isnt referencing this in regard to salvation n i DO believe once saved always saved but not the twisted version of OSAS via video that was earlier posted in this thread

Folks, this is salvation based upon man's efforts...
No kidding. We must always do more? Imitate Jesus? He raised the dead, turned water to wine, and walked on water, among other things. If we could do the things that Jesus did, there would have been no need of Him to give His righteous life for our sinful flesh in the first place.

Benhur, you teach that works will keep you saved, God does not base our Eternal Salvation on "merit" we will not lose our eternal salvation based on our performance/works. You need to interpret the word of God correctly.

Your counterfeit gospel is an insult to our Savior who paid the full price for our eternal salvation.

You are 100& correct, adding works to save or keep you saved is a counterfeit gospel, how many times do we need to tell benhur before he will listen to the truth.

@benhur ...after one is saved and when u die you will be JUDGED by God on your works or LACK of them and that will determine in heaven your rewards but God never takes ones salvation away that he had his son DIE for..

That's the biggest one I've seen. I use bisquick w/brown sugar batter for ling but dip the flakey meat in garlic butter. Poor man's Lobster. And Truth, If I'm camping, I do the same but If I rent a cabin, (like in Big Bear) never mind building a fire that early. I just boogie on back and use what I paid for. Good eatin' either way. Some places get very touchy about camp fires too like natnl. forests.

Look it up on GOOGLE IMAGES, they COME EVEN BIGGER.

ben.... again
youre lacking context

John 15
1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

one of your mistakes is not seeing there are two sorts of brances here

branches that bare fruit
"every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit"
"He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit"

and branches that do not bare fruit
"If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned"
"As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself"

you are focused on the word "in" when this whole thing is largely an example of the power of CHRIST in His own

compared to the lack of power in fakers

dont you understand when this is being said?

what judas already did and what was about to happen?

maybe you need to focus more on the whole message
including the word ABIDE

but this has NOTHING to do with the loss of salvation to a saved believer

and MUCH to do with two separate types of men in the same congregation
You need to continue to focus on vs. 2. That sets up the whole scripture.

Jesus is the true vine. Do you think branches in the true vine are going to be pretenders? No. They will only be people that are saved in Jesus. These kind of people make it to the true vine. Not pretenders or unbelievers.

Once we have that confirmed, then what do the saved people (branches in Jesus in the true vine) have to do. They need to adide in him. Because if a branch abides in the true vine, they will produce fruit.

If branches in the true vine do not continue to abide in Jesus, then they will not produce good fruit or they will produce bad fruit, which in either case God will cut them off of the true vine and cast them away. Remember these branches were those that were saved people being cut off and cast away because they did not continue to abide in Jesus and did not produce fruit.

Do you understand what pruning is all about. Jesus is still talking about his true vine, and he is talking about the saved people (branches IN HIM) on this vine that are producing some fruit. Wow, even these fruit producers are pruned. When you prune, you cut off branches that are not producing or are producing little or bad fruit. You cut them off so that the good producing branches have more energy from the vine and will produce more fruit.

So this scripture is not about pretenders or non believers. This scripture is about believers that from the beginning do not continue to abide in Jeus and do not produce fruit and for those believers that start out good, but for some reason stop abiding in Jesus and stop producing fruit.

They are IN ME, they are clean, but if they do not abide in me they will not continue to be in the true vine.

Who ever said that works will save you? ...(you did, you said works will keep you saved}.
You say that "works" will keep you saved, that is a false gospel. Any works to save or keep you saved is a counterfeit gospel, fess up and admit it your gospel is a poor imitation.

You cannot "Merit" eternal salvation at any time, God will not disown any of His children. Once you are a Child of God you will always be His Child. Ask the "Prodigal Son" God will never forsake His children, ever.

Listen to the bible; God does not base our "Eternal Salvation", on our "Performance" as benhur would have you believe. Our relationship with God is forevermore been restored through faith in his Son Jesus Christ who died a horrible death and shed his blood on the cross to restore our relationship to God. It is finished forevermore.

So do you LIKE that BURNT BEAN flavor, it all reminds me of Starbucks. YUK!

Where I get this from, is a Coffee Roaster, that he only roasts Kenya Coffee, on the lower end of Medium, then You can taste the real coffee bean flavor, instead of just burnt beans. To each his own.

Coffee and chocolate is a home run, if it's not too sweet. I also like coffee flavored ice cream for creamer. But that pic? Coffee with crunchies. I'll pass.
