No holes being digged. I like the fact you didnt quote the part where I mentioned 1 corinthians 6:9-10 that equates adulterers and drunkards as not inheriting the kingdom. Dont complain to me about that, but to Paul.

I rest my case. "You can have the last word", corinthians hath spoken.

WHY exactly cant adultery and drunkenness be compared when BOTH keep you from the kingdom of God
1 Corinthians 6:9-10
You claim to be free from traditions, yet you have a massive baggage of tradition, to the point of disagreeing with 1 Cor 6:9... it lists them both there, both keep ya out.

I rather stick with what Paul says than some nobody on the internet.
The context is those who practice such things. Adultery and sexual immorality are wrong because sex according to God's plan isn't wrong. Being a drunkard is wrong because having a drink according to God's word is not wrong.

Being a drunkard is wrong because having a drink according to God's word is not wrong.
And i never said having a drink was wrong.

Why on earth does anyoen believe that? having a drink does not equal to getting drunk.
Unless this is some weird baptist slang that im not aware of.

Maybe Jack van Impe believes that. Anyhow, this conversation if you can even call it that is unfruitful and useless. The horse has left the building

I am not making a big deal of Noah drinking.

when you compare drinking to much to being a murderer you are making a big deal of it

You seem to be doing that by saying that God did not strike him down for it, concluding that since Noah did it once, it is okay for you to do every so often. I was simply pointing out the error of your thinking. Do you really want to make a case for habitual inebriation using Scriptures to do so?

if someone loses their spouse of 40 years and out of sadness goes out and drinks to much, you really think the Most HIgh is going to judge this person as a murderer?

Lot's of people believe having a drink is a sin. And if that person cops a buzz off that drink? To hell they go, no way they are a true believer!!!

Yep, the horse has left the building. With an angry rider?

There is a huge difference between "getting drunk" and being a drunkard.

I'm not going to condemn myself if I have a beer or more and have a merry heart. Of course, I haven't had anything to drink in a long time, but there is nothing wrong with enjoying that once in a while among family and friends. Typically on Christmas we may have a coffee stout or two, and it may or may not give me a slight buzz.

Who started this thread, Satan? Why such division? The answer for all sin is obvious, a plum line if you will. If something gets in the way of you/or another, serving God then it is sin. Like drinking a beer may not cloud judgement but drinking several does. If you can’t stop at a couple then don’t start. If your judgement was completely impaired after a drink, it would be zero tolerance for driving. It’s like anything, moderation is key. In the Law they listed no lobster, yet allowed wine. However nobody is arguing about lobster and here is division about wine.

If drinking was a sin, would Jesus really have turned water into wine to serve to guests who had already had much to drink? Scriptures actually recommend drinking under certain circumstances, but we are not supposed to allow it to get the better of us, and sobriety is the ideal. It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall. Romans 14:21

To me? That verse?:unsure: I wrestle with constantly!!

Tis a "slippery slope", that can go off on many tangents! In which every direction it goes, causes "tradition of man" doctrinal issues.

As in, just where does one draw a line, Magenta?

What if I were to say, that: Women who "keep their face in a jar on the shelf", causes me to fall? Because to me? It is just so much vanity? As in, "That woman I fell in love with and married?" "Is not the same woman, I would gladly chew my arm off to get away from every morning!" "Ehhh?!" She sez! That's just "work incentive!" :p

Or?

The very fact some person is standing there breathing, causes me to fall? What now?

Meaning? Tis a slippery slope towards "legalism!"

And just as a slippery slope, towards WAR!

Meaning? Some where? Some body? At Some time? At Some place? Is going to walk up to you and say: "SMILE!!......"You're on Candid Camera!".....And, it's causing me to fall! :p (GREAT!....Hope ya enjoy the program! Be advised however, you may not be leaving, with all that, you brought with you! ;))

I guess what I'm getting at is at some POINT, in the believers' life? You're gonna have to say to yourself: "HEY!" (self) "I know I'm in good standing within my own heart, soul, mind, and spirit, and doing that which is good in God's eyes!" And, this is a slippery slope of self delusion, or deception!

"And, if that which I do? Causes someone to fall, or stumble?" "TAKE IT UP WITH GOD!" "Should you be so inclined?" "DON'T, take it up with me!"

Again, we see a slippery slope of self righteousness!

As for ME? I STAND ALONE, on the Word of God!

The B.I.B.L.E.!

(sighs) But, THAT verse! It's in the Bible too!

Living "in the world?" Is like being a classic rock station! Where the HITS....KEEP ON COMING! :p

Fortunately, for me? I'm not Paul!

(hopin' y'all ain't either)

Is just I prefer the gospels written by Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John!

As I see Paul's "gospel" directed more to, and for, AFTER, one is fully ADHERING TO, the 4 "Gospels!" As opposed to INSTEAD OF the 4 Gospels concerning Christ, and HIS Ministry! And, Paul spoke of this many many times! Tis people!! NOT Paul!

A certain "naivety", clouds peoples' judgement/s" who subscribe to "Love covers a multitude of sin!"

Hosea 4
Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel/ "Paul": for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.
7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.
12 My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God. [ REPLACING God/Jesus, with LOVE! And, NEVER quite able to, or seem to be able in bringing forth MEAT! ]

Deluding themselves into thinking, the "enemies" of God, NEVER HEARD, that Love covers a multitude of sin!

I think the lesson better learned was Noah acted like a fool the lesson is how not to act. It is why care should be taken if a person should decide to partake of fermented substances. Alcohol is an individual thing for most. It's a sin for me and many like me. Alcohol is a Psychoactive drug and it's psychoactive effect varies per individual. There's a sedative effect too and digestive as well...Some people just shouldn't drink alcohol. Some people shouldn't eat shellfish either. Many studies have shown Alcoholism is an addiction to a substance we are allergic too.

Alcohol also serves as self medication to many with undiagnosed mood disorders, Those people just want to feel better and alcohol is a cheap, fast, legal remedy. What may have started as a sin (or fun) has turned into a often fatal disease. Drunkenness is a sin but it is an insidious and relentless Illness that effects all who love an Alcoholic.

i see it a bit different. Noah had just survived the flood, had been on the ark all that time where drinking and relations with your spouse were forbidden, he had to save the human race, the animal race, etc etc. when it was all said and done i think Noah needed the drink to keep his sanity.

Our faith in God is not enough to keep us sane? We need a chemical crutch to remain sane when the stress of enduring the trials of this world beset us?

I ain't buying that...........sorry.

Not saying having a drink is a sin............

I remain as I have always on this issue..........

If for YOU it is a sin, then it IS a sin......... The rest of that Scripture says to not be a stumbling block to others, so that's important to.

Getting drunk is not Biblical..........not in the Bible I read anyhoo.......... :)

So you see Noah's drinking as an aid to sanity? When he cursed his son was that the action of a sane man?

I'd object but not for getting drunk, against it because biblically getting drunk usually lead to terrible consequences. Not having some drinks but getting smashed which is what I define drunkenness by.

Again, it goes back to what I said about................If for you it is a sin........then it is a sin......

Folks can make almost anydarnthing a sin...........because (as I understand it) anything that they put before God in their lives is a sin. Nice home, car, trips around the world...........cloths.......anything......

People can drink and be saved, just as people can smoke and be saved. Now they will smell like they been through hell fire, but they are saved........ :)

Paul said God created no unclean thing........and, yes, he was referring to what folks can/can not eat, but in my opinion that same standard can be applied to our daily lives as well......

I agree...God did not condemn Noah....he has just seen the entire world wiped out and undoubtedly heard the screams, wailing and fingernails being dug into the ark as the waters rose......

God honored the curse....might want to rethink your condemnation of Noah.....Ham settled Africa and has served everyone since that day.....something to ponder.....

the whole nakidness and Canes curse is a whole other thing, and IMO more to that story thats missing. all im saying is if there was ever an excuse to go out and get drunk, that would be a good one.

DC you should make a thread on this.
