I love to eat veggies and fruit. No, not a vegan or such, I still eat meat on occasion. But, I love to eat veggies and fruit.

I usually buy Walmart Brand Great Value frozen bags. Peas n Carrots, Broccoli, Cauliflower, and Speckled Butter Beans.
I mix a couple of them together for my meal......such as......peas n carrots n broccoli, and have saltine crackers with them.
I also have a wee snack of some kind. Best I can figure, this meal costs under $2.00, and that's not bad these days!

So, what I want to know is what others think are best/healthiest. I know fresh is best, and home canned out of the garden 2nd in my opinion...........but I'm asking to choose between frozen and store bought cans.

I think polls are entirely unhealthy and often lead to cancer...

unless they're very very fresh.

Frozen beats canned for two reasons.

1. Canned stuff sometimes tastes like the can. Not always, not every product, but some canned things just taste metallic.

2. When they can stuff they have to cook it. If they don't get the temperature above a certain point before they seal it off they can't kill off the bacteria that makes food go bad. This is a bad thing for the flavor of some foods. Ever try to find a good can of peaches that actually tastes like peaches? Frozen foods don't need to be cooked first. Raw frozen peaches (and other fruits and veggies) beat canned any day of the year.

The only downside of frozen food that I can think of is you have to keep the electricity flowing to keep it frozen, at least in spring, summer and autumn. Canned stuff doesn't take any power to preserve.

Frozen is actually almost as good as fresh. The canned stuff usually comes with liquid in the can and some nutrients will leach out into the liquid. Freezing veggies locks in their nutrients til their cooked.

One thing I learned today is:

When you buy the frozen Fruit Medley (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries) DO NOT microwave them to thaw so you can eat them...........Let them thaw at room temp, and, if your really hungry, find something else, like a 'nanner.

When you nuke them, to hurry the process, they go mushy and do NOT taste very good.

Some people like me NEED to eat a special diet. I was tested for food allergies, and I am allergic to corn, green beans, carrots, and garlic, all of which are uncommon allergy types, so there are some vegetables I cannot eat even if I wanted to. Also I have ceoliac disease, meaning I cannot eat wheat. I have to eat bread made out of grains other than wheat.

So bravo, you can still eat vegetables, unlike some of us. Lucky you. I have to get my necessary nutrients by taking vitamin pills.

Also, I have to drink lactose-free milk, I cannot drink regular milk like most people can. This means eliminating food products that contain regular milk in their ingredients. As you can imagine, my diet is more restricted than what is normal.

Sorry about all of that.........there are a bunch of folks who can not drink milk.............

Fortunately, my allergies limited to kidney beans and tofu. Kidney beans make me really, really sick, and tofu is PAGAN.......well, I'm pretty sure it is......

Why would someone poll frozen vs canned, unless they're trying to find ignorant people who'll say canned is healthier?

Put it this way... if someone accidentally loses part of a finger, should the medics freeze it or can it so that it can be re-attached later?

The question wasn't what you liked, but what has more healthy, frozen or canned. Just becomes someone invites the ignorant to raise their hands doesn't mean you have to.

Lynx, it's always entertaining reading your ridiculous posts. Canned things shouldn't taste metallic because the cans are lined to prevent food contact with the metal of the can.

If the only downsize of frozen food you can think of is the need for electricity, well, I know Lynx's brain is at work. I can think of a half dozen advantages of canned food over frozen.

If you can't disagree with somebody without insulting him, you are either a troll or a resident of a certain area in California where they default to insult as normal conversation.

And if you can't taste the metallic taste in some canned food... well that's normal. Some people can taste it, some can't. It probably has something to do with what scientists say about some people have different taste buds than others. They claim if tastes were colors, some people would taste in bright primary colors while others would taste in pastels.

To me, and to many others, some canned foods taste metallic. If you can't taste it, be happy.

Talk about the ignorant raising their hands...............I was not responding to which was healthier...........BUT to your statement about people would have to be ignorant to prefer canned veggies..........wow!

Put your hand down now...................we all see ya...........
