I understand that in the Old Covenant oil was used to anoint both people and sacred objects, and in the New Testament James advises us to anoint the sick with oil in prayer. Jesus also teaches us to anoint our heads with oil when fasting in secret as to lift up our countenance before men.

However where in the New Testament are we told to anoint objects with oil? I can't seem to find any teachings in the NT about anointing objects with oil in the NT.

I hear of people anointing houses, cars, and objects, but do you feel that would go against the fact that the New Testament fulfills the teaching that God does not dwell in buildings made with human hands? I see people compare anointing your house to the old covenant practice of anointing the tabernacle, but it makes more sense that anointing a person is anointing the tabernacle of God, for Christ "became flesh and tabernacled among us," and "your body is the temple".

We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
1 John 5:18 KJV

God's peace be with you all.

To my knowledge it's mostly a charismatic practice. At least as far as using it on objects.

The reference regarding fasting was very likely a cultural grooming practice much like people today would use some product in their hair. The point there is "disguise that you are fasting".

As to the rest, there are some principles in the Old Testament regarding the anointing of objects, as you have noted, and again, that the practice is not mentioned in the New. It's not about "God dwelling in objects" (for He doesn't) but about those objects being set apart for Him. Don't disregard the Old just because it wasn't reiterated though.

As for the rest, I would encourage some scriptural study and research on the subject. If you can find materials by Christians who were formerly involved in the occult, you might find them eye-opening.

“13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where you are (the blood applied to the door posts meant that their Faith and trust were in the Pascal Lamb; the blood then applied was only a “token,” meaning that it was then but a symbol of One Who was to come, Who would redeem mankind by the shedding of His Life’s Blood): and when I see the blood, I will pass over you (this is, without a doubt, one of the single most important Scriptures in the entirety of the Word of God; the lamb had taken the fatal blow; and because it had taken the blow, those in the house would be spared; it was not a question of personal worthiness, self had nothing whatever to do in the matter; it was a matter of faith; all under the cover of the blood were safe, just as all presently under the cover of the Blood are safe; this means that they were not merely in a savable state, but rather that they were “saved”; as well, they were not partly saved and partly exposed to judgment, they were wholly saved, and because there is no such thing as partial Justification; the Lord didn’t say, “When I see you,” or, “When I see your good works,” etc., but, “When I see the blood”; this speaks of Christ and what He would do at the Cross in order that we might be saved, which pertained to Him giving Himself in Sacrifice, which necessitated the shedding of His Precious Blood [I Pet. 1:18-19]), and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. (Salvation from the “plague” of Judgment is afforded only by the shed Blood of the Lamb, and Faith in that shed Blood.)

If it's done in the flesh, it will consume the person, i.e., "the bush"; however, if it's done by the Power of the Holy Spirit, the bush will burn and not be consumed (Exodus 3:2, Romans 8:2).

Let me repeat this again, this is very important: anything and everything that is not produced and birth by the Holy Spirit is wood, hay, and stubble from the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil. In other words it is the work of the flesh. If it is of the flesh the bush will be consumed. If it of the Spirit the bush will not be consumed. Exodus 3:2-3

For forty years you sustained them in the wilderness; they lacked nothing, their clothes did not wear out nor did their feet become swollen. Neh. 9:21

I agree. That's basically what I stated. Jesus was talking about fasting and praying in secret, so to wash and anoint you face is for a normal appearance whereas hypocrites fast to be seen of men, making their countenances downcast.

I also agree with you as not to disregard the old.

Yes. That's what I've noticed.

I have heard of people anointing a house if they just moved in and wanted to use it to please God, etc. I never heard this compared to the tabernacle. I would imagine tgis has been dome if there was demonic activity involved. I cannot find an exact scripture or it, but I cannot find any against it either. So if someone does it in faith I do not have a problem with it.

Oil as sybolism in that by anointing the person with oil it is symbolic of invoking the Holy Spirit.
I suppose one could anoint objects or property.
As if invoking the Holy Spirit would ever be the wrong thing to do.
Walking in the Spirit entails obeying God. What is natural in heaven is bizarre to those in a mental walk.
Smith wigglesworth had about a 95% success rate. He was uneducated. He didn't use "doctrine" or human understanding to debate commands from heaven.

Most charismatics have been in and seen the power of the Holy Spirit.
Most if not all are baptised in the Holy Spirit.
So yes we do seem strange.
When God manifests his power lots of strange things happen.
I don't represent myself as charismatic in the sense that i agree with all charismatics, anymore than a baptist is representing all baptist idiosyncrasies.

But " charismatic" does seem to mostly fit me,and i love them.

About fasting, I think we could anoint our heads with shampoo. Conditioner is probably made with some kind of oil.

My understanding is that anointing the head with oil was not only done for religious purposes, but was also done for hygeine and grooming purposes.

Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice. Prov 23:25

If born of the Holy Ghost, then one will understand what is meant by thy father and mother shall be glad considering that the Spirit and the Word are one living body of Light (phasma), as she hath said in Prov 1: 23; “Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.” thus it is written in 1 John 2:27. “… the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.”

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Matthew 1:18
