9 The reason premarital sex is not mentioned specifically is because engaging in sex was what consummated a marriage. In essence, the first time a couple engage in sex, they are married.

If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

It is like anything else in discussions concerning the scriptures and God's will and word. Those who don't want to see it refuse to read it.

The irony is that with the exception of one person, every single contributor to this thread over three pages has focused on sex before marriage and not commented at all on the other 4 points.

Having sex before marriage is one thing, multiple sex partners is another.

If two people are committed to each other enough to create a family together why would they not want to say so? If one says they just don't want to let anyone know about it as marriage is then you can be sure they are making a fool of the other.

Nothing at all to do with what I said, or the topic of discussion.

On a slightly different note though, I've realised that my perception of God's word is being skewed by the church I'm a member of.
Not directly, just that I'm not in the right church for me, shall we say.
