The Gospel will indeed in its reception and through the conviction of the Holy Spirit grant repentance and in turn, eternal life through faith in the Son. Yet, beyond the initial repentance, we need to know what to do in this life. This we learn more of in later epistles, such as through the writings of the apostle Paul.

You may claim you have no need of further revelation, but you ought to keep in mind that you aren't saved just to be saved. You are saved unto good works. This too is delved into in the NT. You should move beyond the Gospels a delve a little deeper into your walk, learn about fellowshipping with God, and the Holy Spirit. Learn about being a new creation in Christ Jesus. Learn about being dead to sin and alive unto God.

There is much to learn, things that are not in red letters. Truth be told, considering the Bible is the word of God, should not it all be red? :)

Jesus said to have faith in Him and to believe. I do
Jesus said to work out my salvation through fear and trembling. I do
Jesus said to receive forgiveness is to forgive those who sinned against me. I do
Jesus said to love my brother and my neighbor. I do
Jesus said to go and sin no more. I try my very best.
Jesus said if I obey His commandments I have eternal salvation. I do

What else do I need when God told me what to do to guarantee life after death with Him?

I do not need anything else because I have it all from God Himself!!

If you died tonight where would you go Heaven or Hell?

I'm wondering if the people that works keep you saved think they will go to Heaven and which works are keeping you saved?

If you cannot obey Him are you saved in the first place?

This is not in a mean spirit... I strongly believe once saved always saved.... These are my strong objections to losing "your" salvation... Am I wrong!?!

So Jesus said to go and sin no more, and you said that you have to obey His commandments for eternal salvation, but then say you try your very best? So... you do sin, and you don't obey His commandment, therefore you don't have... eternal salvation? Is that what you're telling me?

Seems like grace would be perfect right about now. :)

Yes, because I believe He is God. I have faith. So I do deserve it by the obedience of obeying His direct command!!
But do you deserve this forgiveness to be offered to you in the first place? Did God have to save you? No. He chose to send Jesus as the propitiation for the sins of the world. So no, you didn't deserve this mercy. It was given by.... grace.

The morgue?

I could take comfort that true and righteous is the word of the LORD.

If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

I'm wondering if the people that works keep you saved think they will go to Heaven and which works are keeping you saved?
It is obvious that the works which resulted in the belief that they were saved by their faith will be the same works that will keep them from coming to the knowledge of the truth, whose due diligence in seeking him would be rewarded.

If you cannot obey Him are you saved in the first place?
Shouldn't the question really be "If you cannot hear Him are you saved in the first place?"

If you can not hear Him then how can you obey Him?

Would obeying Him include the sanctifying of your faith by being ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear? [See 1 Peter 3:15]

How can a person obey Him if they cannot hear Him but if a person hears Him and obeys Him then would they be considered saved:

This is not in a mean spirit... I strongly believe once saved always saved.... These are my strong objections to losing "your" salvation... Am I wrong!?!

This is the most simplest part of our salvation by believing. Because the moment we literally believe in Him, who He is, why He was here, we automatically surrender our lives to Him. That is all it takes to be saved. And since I did that, I deserve what He promised me. Because I made an agreement with what He specified. Therefore, since I have done what He asked of me, I deserved His Mercy!!

Hi Ben,
I guess you mean me Lol! but I dont beleve you can be saved by works, that seems to be assumed by anyone who thinks they are saved but not true! I beleve based on Bible NT included that keeping Gods are required by God .The 10 Commandments are to be kept if you want to obey God, they have not been done away, still very much in force. I beleve that the basis of the New Covenant which Christ brought to us is still these laws. The New Covenant is these laws are now written in th..e hearts of a Christian.i believe sin is the transgression of the law. I beleve in grace and faith and obeying Gods law ,that they go hand in hand .I addressed the works first because that is what you are concerned but grace is where the forgiveness of sin thru Christs sacrifice ,also the giving of the HS
at baptism and the laying on of hands. Much more and if you want to talk I will be happy to give you the scriptures to prove why I beleve these things!

Would I go to Heaven or Hell if I died tonight? Neither one I would go to the grave where I would sleep until the resurrection.
Works do not save anyone Ben , our works are nothing it is God that does the works of obeying Him thru the HS that dwells in us

What do I think abt those that beleve they are once saved, always saved? I believe they are sadly misled by a false teaching!
Like I said ,happy to talk with you if you want to.I dont see a mean spirit in what you said at all!

Text is dad. It is the Holy Spirit that gives life to any written code, not the text itself, which kills.

The Gospel did not come to me by th written code. It came to me after I had locked myself in aroom, broken-hearted for man's inhumanity to man, andI I prayed to "You Are Who You Are."

Because He knew I was sincere and believe He was there to hear me, He opned my heart, mind and eyes to Jesus and to His written Word. All of this occurred in diret contact with Him, and miracles ensued by grae and the Holy Spirit working.

I believed there was a Maker who could hear me, and He did……. I am convinced Jesus Christ is Lord and god. Then when I read throught wWord for the first time and I came to His letters I balked and dcontinued reading the OT andthe Gospelss, but Paul's letters were not filled with the Hoy Spirit as the other writings.s

God, Yahweh, has not changed, not from the time ofAdam, not from Abraham, not from Moses, and not since Jesus...…….His mercy endures forever, amen.

If you're worrying for your soul you need what Paul wrote. If you've got no assurance, you need what Paul wrote. If you find security in your actions as opposed to Christ's sacrifice, you need what Paul wrote. If you are still caught in the shackles of sin, you need what Paul wrote. God used Paul to bring truth to His church.

If you need the approval of the majority, you need what Paul wrote but keep in mind always what Daniel prophesied about the times coming upon us, the people with understanding will be fw…...this does not sound like the Paul only bunch at all.

In my opinion, I am obeying another command of Christ, living by faith. And what I just stated shows I have faith in Him, who He claims to be, why He was here, and by agreeing with Him in what He asks of all believers, by faith I accept His Mercy and gift of eternal life with Him. He made me a child of Almighty God by accepting His terms. But it's not just I said I accept, it's that I whole heartedly believe everything He said. As an act of faith, I now expect Him to deliver because I reasoned and told Him, I believe in reaping His reward by sowing my faith He is everything He claims and promise. There is absolutely no act of works I have or am doing. I took His words and made them literal. And then by faith, I applied them. So, I completely expect Him to keep His word and promise. And there are no doubts about believing I will get everything He promised me, because I am willing to accept everything He claimed based solely upon I trust Him 100%

He is my lawyer and judge. I cannot go wrong in this deal because I know He cannot break His promise. It's like winning a court case and expecting the terms to be rewarded unto you. It's not a matter of not knowing I am saved, it is a matter of now waiting on Him to deliver. I made an alignment and an agreement with God. I cannot fail. It's now just a matter of time of getting my end of the deal because I am fulfilling His end of the bargain. I love it!!

When I read the WORDS of Jesus, it's like a court document. Once the judge has made stipulations and you fulfill them, the judge has to grant you what you are asking for. It's the same thing with God. He gave me a document from His courtroom signed by His blood and guaranteed by His promise. All I have to do is now accept it and live like I have that guarantee. That is how you walk in faith and in the power of God!!

woooohooooo i want to shout, Glory to God!!

YOu insist on using the word grace for mercy, Mery is exoneration.

Yes, I too obey His commandments, but, being human, I may slip up b because He is doing that eternal work in me of making me perfect, not I. all who believe Him know this so it is with all who learn from God, so it is with Mariner'scatch....... He has said this in his posts if you read them...

Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness, . Did he deserve salvation? Apparently he did for he was counted righteous just as is anyone who believes Jesus.......

And once again, who died for you (Jesus or Paul)?
Who is God (Jesus or Paul)?
Who has more authority (Jesus or Paul)?
Who should we listen to and obey (Jesus' message or Paul's)?
replace Paul with Moses, Elijah, King David, and we will wonder why are we persecuting Paul

and
how is all this any different than giving a child an ultimatum: mom or dad, who should you obey? you are not allowed to pick both
