My operating scripture this year has been Philippians 3:12-14. It says forgetting what is behind me, I stride forward to the high calling of Christ.
Sometimes my past reaches up to remind me of the nasty person I was, then the enemy tries to make me feel guilty for what I have done.
Knowing that Jesus died and rose again to give me a new start is the promise I cling to, then marching forward with the confidence that I am clean, and free from my past.

Boy do I know that guilt thing, lamenting on and on again... like a gerbil on a treadmill, playing the poor choices and consequences, over and over again.

Recently a sister friend gave me a great go to for considering when struggling with the truths of my past...

Luke 7:36-50.

I think those scriptures make Phil 3:12-14 easier for me to do, it helps me forgive myself and then move on up with Him.

Thank you for sharing your walk with Him, it inspires mine.

Our past is forgiven, forgotten, remembered no more by God.............and..........front page memory by the devil.

When the Holy Spirit fills us, the old devil brings out his best weapon..........our past........

The hardest thing for a Christian to do is forgive themselves............. (imo)

I agree! Not a truer statement! It takes the Spirit of God, and a willingness to forgive ourselves. but even then it can be a long process!

Amen! Great scripture! :D We should not allow our past to hold our future hostage, but that is exactly what the enemy wants us to do.

For me, I find it more difficult to forgive myself than to forgive others. It certainly can be a process of getting over guilt from the past.
