Cracked sidewalks, bird droppings
Dirty restaurant windows with
'Specials' signs on the sidewalk
Jackhammers busting concrete
That's been there for a century.
Buses blowing the air around
Cars honking at every opportunity
Pedestrians moving in and out
Of traffic that should be moving.
Take me home dust gas choked
Highways with bent street signs
Graffiti plagued building sides.
One day is enough or maybe
One day is too much for this place
Of hidden slumped porches that
Cry for a little attention, I won't
Be back for a while and so sorry
Big city of my youth
You've been fun but I won't miss you.
