From the Levitical priestly order to: The order of Melchizedek

Levitical priestly order is established/begins here:

Lev 8:1-2 God tells Moses; get some anointing oil, vs 6 now wash (mikveh/baptise) Aaron & his sons with water, vrs 7-9 dress them up in Priestly garments, vs 12 put the anointing oil on Aaron's head to sanctify/set his apart for Priestly duties. Thus establishing the Levitical Priestly order)
(NOTE: Aaron is baptised w/water & anointed with oil to become High Priest after the order of Levi (Levitical order)

KJV John 3:34 he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God ""giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him""
(NOTE: Spirit capitalized)

Priestly context: John baptises Jesus, God from Heaven anoints Jesus with ""an unlimited measure"" of the Holy Spirit. And Jesus is anointed vis the Holy Spirt as a Priest after the order of Melchizedek.

The stage is set at Jesus baptism for the retirement of the physical/wordly; Levitical priesthood.

It's not until Jesus finishes the work of redemption at his death. And his Priesthood after the Order of Melchizedek. Begins in resurrection power, with the earth quaking & the veil of the Temple is torn in 1/2 (Matt 27:51). As Jesus breaks & passes the spiritual barrier. Guarded by cherubim since man's Garden removal

Additional context
John the Baptist father (Zacharias) was a pure blooded priest, a descent of Aaron on both his mothers & fathers blood line (1 Chr 24:10, Luke 1:5 & 8).

While John's father (Zacharias) is at Priest (Lk 1:5). While at the altar of incense, preforming his Priestly Temple duties, an angel appears Lk 1:11. Tells him he will have a son (he & his wife are to old & she is Lk:7) And that his son (John the Baptist) shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb Lk 1:15.

God choose Aaron to be the 1st Levitical High Priest & God choose John the Baptist to be the last Levitical Hih Priest

John the Baptist announces (Jn 1:29) Behold the Lamb of God that TAKES AWAY (Temple sacrifices only COVERED sin 4 1 yr) the sins of the world

Alot happens at Jesus baptism. None of which had anything to do repentance, forgivness or sin. Jesus was SINLESS! 1 Pet 1:19 & 2:22, 2 Cor 5:21, 1 Jn 3:5

When John the Baptist, God's chosen High Priest lay's his hands on Jesus. He passed/transfered (see Lev 16:20-21) all the sins of humankind onto the LAMB of God. When Jesus comes up: A 2nd voice coming from Heaven (Matt 3:17) gives confirmation & a FlyingDove = HOLY SPIRIT, falls anointing Jesus: Great High Priest after the order of Melchezidek.

I believe it is written plainly, just as Jesus was crucified for our sin, He as also baptize…….both were to "complete all righteousness." Idt may take some prayer and meditation for this response to be sufficient for all, but, it works for me.

Jesus IS God.....He did not need to be given the Holy Spirit........the dove that rested on His shoulder was a WITNESS of who He was.........

Don't know how you got all this.........just saying............the sins of the world did not come upon Christ UNTIL He was on the cross as I read Scripture...........

just my opinions

Hello p_rehbein,

1st: No place does the post dispute Jesus deity. Nor does it claim Jesus didn't take sins judgment upon himself on the cross

2ndly, I'm totally fine with your disagreement. You closed your reply with: Quote "just my opinions". Likewise my post is "just my opinion". Peace & best wishes, FD

There were TWO sacrifices made on the Day of Atonement.

Lev 16:
7 And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
(NOTE: 2 goats)

8 And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat.
(NOTE: straws are drawn)

9 And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the LORD'S lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering.
(NOTE: One goat is killed as a sin offering)

10 But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.
(NOTE: One goat shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him)

21 And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:
(NOTE: The scapegoat: shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him and taken into the wilderness.

Jesus is both: After John makes the sin transfer (only the High Priest could impute/transfer all the peoples sins & only once a yr) Jesus carries all the iniquities/sins into the wilderness. Later Jesus takes sins judgment when sacrificed on the cross. Jesus is both sacrificies

BTW: Anyone could bring a sin offering to the Temple. The Priest would inspect the animal for blemishes (he knew why you were there & didn't ask you what you've done) you then placed your hands firmly on the sacrifices head imputing/transferring you sins onto the sacrifice, took the knife & killed the offering.

I know it was not your intent, but the OP sure sounded like you were reducing Christ to being just a human.

And, John the Baptist didn't transfer anything to Him. All John did was what he was born to do and that is "make the way straight" for the Christ.

anyway, I appreciate how hard you worked on your OP, but I just have to respectfully let the part about Christ having sin or the Holy Spirit transferred to Him be a disagreement...........

thanks
