I was thinking about something tonight and asked God about it. I know that Jesus was treated unkindly on many occasions. People would be mean to him and call him names like drunkard and glutton and even would say he was possessed. I asked how did Jesus remain so calm and collected and gracious with people being so mean to him? A lot of people would get really mad and talk to others like, you wouldn't believe what he/she did to me or said to me and I have responded in like matter as well. I am thinking about how Jesus is not judgemental in how he sees others and he loves people and is focused on his mission. Thoughts?

He is our Model and our Salvation. Although we do model ourselves after Him, because in this age we can never attain this perfection, we always need His Salvation and His Mediation.

This is not to improve or dissuade from your post, I agree with you, God bless you.

Jesus is indeed judgmental, but not as you and I might expect. See Heb 1:8,9.

He already knew He would be despised and rejected before He came to earth. But His mission was to offer grace and salvation to all at His first coming. He also had the wisdom of God in not responding in kind to His enemies. Therefore He basically ignored all the barbs. This is all summed up in one verse (John 3:17).

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

This verse also refutes Unconditional Election (a few to be saved).

His thoughts are totally so much higher than ours, that I imagine He saw mockers as spiritually blind in need of a Savior (Himself). He is love and does not want anyone to go to hell so kept praying and preaching and dying on our behalf. Happy New Year!

Hmm thoughts well satan had nothing on Jesus. He had no power over him. So any lies about him were unfounded. john 14:30
Jesus was full of grace and truth.

Most of the time satan wants to bait us and hook us, and we react because we dont walk completely in the spirit all the time. He can get us in the flesh where it hurts and wounds us.

If we saw with Jesus eyes someone who is rude or in pain or broken they lashing out often its satan using them to get to us. Its interesting that the holy spirit is called 'the comforter' because when theres nobody there to cry on and wipe our tears, even if our own parents refuse and say 'harden up' or 'what are you crying for, i will give you something to cry about' or laugh or mock us, or even bully us...Jesus has sent his comforter to us...to comfort.

I picture this sometimes as being wrapped or sheltered beneath His wings. Being protected...luke 10:19 also talks about having power over the enemy, treading on snakes and scorpions that nothing shall by any means hurt us.

I mean God is greater and God is on our side...satan in comparison is like a snake or scorpion you can stomp on, the nature of snakes and scorpions is to sting and poison, we should not be surprised when they act according to their nature.

Read "The Sermon on The Mount" (Matt chapters 5-7).

He lived it at Nazareth (for 30 years) before He taught it.

Hi Cherie, He always did the very thing that He commands us to do, which is summed up in this single verse:

Matthew 7
12 However you want people to treat you, so treat them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

Just to be clear, this commandment has nothing whatsoever to do with the way that we are 'actually' being treated by others. IOW, as Christians, we are supposed to 'always' treat others with respect, patience, kindness and love, regardless of how they are choosing to treat us at the time.

HAPPY NEW YEAR :)

~Deut
p.s. - Matthew 7:12 is an interesting verse, isn't it, because the second half of the verse tells us that whenever we choose to obey the 1st half of v12, it's the equivalent of obeying the entire OT (at least on the horizontal plane of existence, that is, IOW, where our relationships to others are concerned).

1 Corinthians 13
1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant,
5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,
6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails.

Mat 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
Mat 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Jesus was always led of the Spirit nothing wavering, and that is how He could be so calm, and not retaliate, despite the opposition against Him.
