It depends on who you ask.
And I agree that there is false doctrine. And that the Bible is right.
But that seems to be where the agreement ends.
Would even you and I be in complete agreement as to what is false doctrine and what isn't?
Probably not. That's the point.
So, how do we handle that? Can we disagree on a few doctrines and still be okay with each other?
What if we disagree a lot? Or completely?
What if we are both in complete disagreement yet both have biblical support for our views?
This is the issue between Protestants and Catholics. So, how do we handle it?
Ahh now we have some understanding. Reminds me of a joke my father use to tell. A man was asked one time "what do you believe"? He said "I believe what my church believes". "Well what does your church believe?" came the question. "We believe what our pastor believes". "Ok,then what does your pastor believe?" he was asked. "Well,we all believe the same thing!" was the response.

I think people throw around false doctrine a little too easily. I have friends for various churches, traveled in all denomination of churches and though I didn't agree with all their belief we agreed on the main things. In fact I can find many things I can agree with with the Catholics. The problem is where they are in error they are in serious error. I've heard the actor Jim Caviezel in interviews and I have no doubt he has a heart for God. But he is Catholic and worships the Pope. I hope he finds the truth. But to give man glory that belongs to God is serious error. I'll stop here and add a lot of evangelicals give the same glory to tv evangelists. Oops, did I say that? :p

A biblical basis? Now you are changing the rules. This makes you nervous, as it should.
It doesn't really matter who you are or where you go to church, someone somewhere believes
that you are lost and your church is run by the devil. Here's an example. I'm going to take
a wild guess and say that you are probably not a Seventh Day Adventist. So, for the sake of argument,
let's say I guessed correctly. Now, if I asked a SDA what he thought about you and your church,
what would he say? You guessed it. See how that works?
What kind of rule I change, why I am nervous?

The rule is bible. If SDA say my church run by devil, let them say what ever they want, i Will back to the bible If It true, i Will say It is, If It not, i Will say not.

Say I read catholic murder millions, create communist, pray to Mary etc, than I say catholic run by devil. Let our fellow catholic investigate If I say the fact, If after their investigation, prove wrong, let them say wrong, If right, let them decide.

All we have to do is to love them, tell them what I heard about catholic.

For Example, I was read that in vatican high rank jesuit make sex ritual every years.

I investigate by Googling If there is a clue. Some big news paper say, in nasional TV, high rank vatican official confest It. This is the link.

All I do is give information that I believe let people decide and investigate.

I like that joke from your Dad. Really hits the nail on the head.
I saw a book titled: Know What You Believe
And classes along the same lines. Always seemed funny that we would look to someone else to tell us what we believe.
But I sort of get it. We need to learn the fundamentals of the faith.

You understand that they put more stock in Church tradition than in the Bible, right?
I have even seen them claim that Sola Scriptura isn't biblical.

And most of them rely on the Church to tell them what the Bible means.
They even have a council that decides for them called the Magisterium.

We are criticized for all the denominations that are in doctrinal disagreement.
From their perspective, this cannot be of God.
Even some Protestants make this same claim, having believed the idea.

I hope all readers understand that I am not defending the Catholic Church.
I am however, challenging what we think about it.
We do no better than they when we are all attacking one another.
They make the same arguments against us that we make against them.

No one gets ahead in that game. There has to be a better approach.
As I said in an earlier post. Build bridges instead of walls.

They have been taught that we are horrible people.
Imagine their surprise when they learn that isn't true.
At that point they can begin (continue) to question everything else the Church teaches.
And probably not before.

This many pages of debating if bowing down to the Pope, kissing the ring of another man, praying to saints whom you never meant, dont even know if are saved, praying to Mary, bowing down to statues, all the fatima junk, purgatory, indulgences, celibate priesthood, forbidding eating meats on certain days, etc. is "bad".

YES.

Some of it is not only bad, but sin.

Case closed! I've proven it from the bible previously in the thread, verse after verse.

Side note: BEWARE of people with long garments. Thats one thing Jesus points out about the pharisees, and when you look at all false religions today; They got some kind of fancy garment on.
If somebody cant dress regular they are trying to show off in the flesh.

(Yes I realize what is regular depends on the culture...)

Matthew 23:5
But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,

I know what you mean.

Where did you dredge up all these accusations? I mean, "indulgences"? Do they still do that today? Bowing to statues? Have they ever really done that? (in the idolatrous sense) If we are going to be critical, we should at least be honest. If not, we are no better than they.

I have seen them bow to statues, dont know nor care in what "sense" they do it.

indulgences are still existing yes, read the official documents from the catholic church.
They still got the office of INQUISITION, its probably waiting to get back to work.

Why am i even responding to you? waste of time. You have made up your mind and evidence is irrelevant. I've posted the scriptures earlier in this thread, already CLEARLY showing roman catholicism goes against it. If you wanna still defend them go ahead, couldnt care less.

Please explain the problem you are having with that. Thanks.
What do you mean when you say, "I have seen them bow to statues"?
In what sense were they bowing? Do you care to be honest?

I think the Golden Rule applies here.
If we wouldn't want others to do this to us, we shouldn't do it to them.
We seem to be stuck on this "We're right and everyone else is wrong." thing.
No one is completely right and few are completely wrong. Therefore...
I agree, better to take the high road and not do what I suggested. I guess that I was just a little angry when I wrote that post. I certainly have no intention of picking apart a member's church or denomination. Thank you for posting this.

The Bible is completely right, follow it and you'll never go wrong.
I try to always follow it but there is always someone telling me in the BDF that I am interpreting it wrong, or it's an unreliable translation or revision or I had better learn to read Hebrew and Greek. I believe there are also portions in the bible written in Aramaic also so I better brush up on that too.

If you were Catholic, you wouldn't have this problem. lol

This is so typical of Protestantism.
When we are done nit-picking about the Catholics, we return to nit-picking at each other.
Instead of focusing on the 95 percent that is right, we focus on the 5 percent we think is wrong.
Jesus said it best.

Matthew 23:24

This is SO not true.

Sometimes we nit-pick at each other first....
and THEN we do the Catholics.

You believe what they say that sola scriptura is not biblical?
Sola = alone

Scriptura = bible

How in the world sola scriptura not biblical.

To me, people can say what ever they want, If It is not reasonable, why I buy.

They say protestant terible, up to them, but my savior is Jesus, protestant is human, some are good some are bad,

But because of love I have to tell them. Catholic run by devil.

Pope promote one world government and It is Lucifer government.

https://prophecyinthenews.com/world...-new-world-order-to-the-wests-cultural-elite/

You want to build a bridge? Bridge between God and Lucifer?

Are you hate them? If you love them you have to tell them that they religion work for the devil.

You say they not only base oN the bible, but bible + Magisterium

Let be reasonable, bible + Magisterium

Mean must inline with the bible

And inline with Magisterium

How about the fact they Magisterium not inline with the bible?

Let not hate them by say they worship the Lord

Let love them, tell them the truth, they work for the devil

They think they work for the Lord, they are victim. Love them, give them the right information, Will you?

We had a job today and as my husband worked i had opp. to talk to a dear lady at her home...her and i were talking about things of God...i told her we were born-again Christians, Jesus is our Lord and savior we are people of faith...she kindly said i do not know what that means, she did not understand...as her eye were blank and she did not have ears to hear Gods truth, yet she proclaimed (the priest as father) she called him and talked about him with great adoration and almost like worship...she is a sweet beautiful gal...yet she is lost...she could not see...yet i pray God opens her eyes and ears that she comes to repentance and salvation in Jesus Christ only...love in Christ Sherril...
