For a while now Ive been ministering in lve to homeless people in the major cities around my area.
Well now a new challenge came around where the homeless closest to me have been struck down in depression and hurt due to circumstances that have come back up.
Even one man who has been a dry alcoholic for maaaaaaaaaaany years is falling back and isolating himself.
Thats just one of many people struck. Another had his wife and child murdered many years ago and hasnt been able to come anywhere.
I will have to start going to their housings and uplift them more but there has been questions coming up like "oh so if theres a God why did he take my wife and Child" and things like that.
Please pray for guidance, hope and wisdom for all parties in this. Bible verses on how Jesus dealt with the broken are very appreciated.
Thanks

Bless you for this work. This is a challenging area b/c the obstacles seem insurmountable. Also, the mental illness and addictions of many homeless make them outcasted. They are still people tho, they need love and interaction. Below are a couple scriptures you may share. The Lord is there as a refuge for them and surely here’s their cries. Also, the circumstance are but for a period of time we have eternal hope in Jesus. Just share with them, love them and listen to them.

Psalm 10:17 (NLT): 17 Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless.
Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.

2 Corinthians 4:16–18 (NKJV): Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

People often blame God for their misfortune, but in reality, the source of most of their problems can be found in the nearest mirror. God separated himself from sin, the prince of this world is Satan (2 Corinthians 4:4, Ephesians 2:2), and God doesn't interfere with the natural course of things, not yet anyhow.
"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you".
(1 Peter 5:8-10)

I know people often blame God. Thats why im looking for encouragement and verses to help how to deal with these situations. People need us to bring Jesus to all people.

As for the man whose wife and child were murdered, they belong to God, as everyone does. God didnt take them away, but God does keep them. God feels more deeply than we ever could. And God would forgive the murderer, if he repented. Gently explain that we all need forgivness. God bless you Demi777 in your work.

Hi Demi, awesome work you’re doing. May God Bless you and all the people you meet.

Some verses that hopefully help and comfort those you meet and minister to, you probs already have thought of them :) Jesus watch over you. Take good care.

For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.

He carried our sorrows

This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him
And saved him from all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him [with awe-inspired reverence and worship Him with obedience], and He rescues [each of] them.

He heals the broken-hearted, and binds up their wounds.

A bruised reed He will not break

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me (the Messiah),
Because He has anointed Me to preach the good news to the poor.
He has sent Me to announce release (pardon, forgiveness) to the captives,
And recovery of sight to the blind, [ <— Re: 2 Cor 4:4 ]
To set free those who are oppressed (downtrodden, bruised, crushed by tragedy)

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Jesus the Great High Priest
14Therefore, since we have such a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we profess. 15For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every waythat we are, yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

God bless you and your family 🙂

I find it's better to go out in groups of two or more. So many Scriptures like God is no respecter of persons and He loves them just as much as anyone else. Also, I remind them that believing in God and His mercy will bring peace. Everyone is in a different place so I personally find praying and esp praying in the Spirit helps in all areas of life. I pray the good Lord anoints you with His truth and agape love and protects you in Jesus' name, Amen.

John The Baptist had his head cut off. Peter was crucified upside down. Cain was murdered by his own brother. Jesus was whipped and crucified. All of them were innocent victims. God knows the sorrow that those homeless people feel. All of these killings were done to innocent people by murderers. There will always be murderers in the world. It's unfortunate that the man you know lost his family to murderers but it doesn't mean that there is no God or that God is not who He says He is.

God's own son was brutally murdered by the Romans even though he was innocent. God knows their pain. He is the God of healing. The God of forgiveness. And the God of new beginnings.

Your welcome :) I thought afterwards it might have been a bit, I don’t know how to say, but I read your op again later and realised some of the peoples troubles, well hard to find the right words to comfort, esp the guy who lost his family. Hard to fathom....
I’m hearing many reports of many people getting depression and isolating, anxiety, feeling weighed down, helpless, hopeless, and pressured by the system, not getting the right help. That’s why your ministry is so crucial and Thank God for your life and I pray you do have someone with you to be with you even though God is with you anyway. Tabin is right, Jesus sent His peeps out 2 x 2. Im eager to get out there too, I’m aware of the urgency too but waiting on a partner to work with based on the 2 x 2 thing. May His Spirit anointing and help be with you and His Holy angels keep your steps as per Psalm 91. Grace and Peace

Your welcome, I’d love to keep you in prayer, it’s great you can handle things. Your reply made me realise that having built up that rapport and relationship with people builds trust and we get to know people so we don’t need to worry. You know better than I do about your personal business so I didn’t mean to sound condescending or anything, just showing concern so I’ll keep praying.
I’m wrestling with getting out there cos I’m sure time is running up and I’m not sure if I should just get out there too.. rather than wait for someone to go out with me but I guess there’s many ways we can reach people. God bless and have an awesome year in Jesus.

That is the tough one. When bad things befall a person who in all appearances are good. Trying to explain to them that sin has brought all manner of death and destruction into the world and we reap it is always a hard one.

A good answer when someone ask Why does God let this or that happen is...…… If God stopped crime, someone would be whining that he didn't stop their child from dying, so if he rose them from the dead, the whole world will ask him to do this...if he stopped rape, wouldn't he have to stop all rape...breaking through freewill , which would go against his promise.........on and on.....THAT is why he solved the problem and gave his life so we can get out of this world some day to a new world. if he did it all in this world wouldn't this be HEAVEN? There is sin here....no sin in Heaven.

Thanks so much, really appreciate that. Actually, I’ve been shown a possible way jus last night!

Also, to be open to people while out ‘n about. But wise about it. (RE: Doves. Wolves. Etc)
Just today in the shop, a guy was obviously angry & upset on the phone swearing like a trooper, pacing up and down the aisles, but instead of me thinking from a fear basis, oh no he’s dangerous, he’s gonna kick off - I was reminded of a movie I’d seen again recently, I, Daniel Blake and as this guy walked past me, I made eye contact with him, and tried to show him compassion, instead of a disapproving frown cos he was swearing. He could’ve just been told he isn’t getting any money so he might not be able to pay rent, who knows what he was facing in that moment... so thanks so much for praying, I’d like to slow down a bit and actually ‘See’ what people are facing.. that guy might have just needed to sound off to someone like you said- this world is getting harsh on people... I don’t wanna miss an opportunity to be there for someone jus cos they’re a bit aggressive, or shut off even... God Bless, Thanks again 🙂

Hello Demi777,

You definitely possess the "spiritual gift of helping" and it sounds like you might have the heart of a missionary. Have you ever been on any missionary trips?

1 Corinthians 12:28 New International Version (NIV)
28 And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues.

Even in the scriptures, bad things happen to the saved and unsaved - it hasn't changed. However, the good news as a believer is that we don't have to go through the bad all alone. God is with us and He promises to turn all the bad into good - either in this world or the new world to come. Abraham died believing the promises of God.

It's our flesh that gets mad at God because life didn't happen the way we wanted it to, which just keeps us separated from God. Eventually, our inner spirit man grabs a hold of God and we pull out of it, get back on track with God.

In the Psalms, David's soul was downcast and he chose to put his hope in God and yet praise Him.

God bless you, protect you and keep you Demi777, always.(y)
