I think you have gone beyond Wesleyanism and the Nazarene Church.
I have to give you a star for recognising the theology I am supporting is Wesleyian, namely Nazarene church.
But slowly progress is being made, and some at least, understand this is more than just a personal position. :)

Mind you the condescension could be avoided if people did some homework.

If you have not gone beyond the teachings of this sect, then I will state I never realized how deep the error is in this teaching.

A small note - a well developed theology and position followed by millions of people cannot
be dismissed or mocked meaningfully in a few words. That is just a joke.

So if you want to be more than a mocker, approach the subject with the maturity it deserves.

How much time have you spent thinking about what being like Jesus is?
5 minutes, 1 hour, not at all?

Most would not even have asked the question. And the cultural answer is to just laugh.
So if you want to take Jesus seriously and the cross, you need to go a bit deeper.

Hi Stones,

Do you understand the difference between getting alongside people and the witchcraft idea of cursing
someone?

Are you saying when someone has a fatal illness we cannot talk about it, and when we meet our Lord?
Are you ready to meet our Saviour?
And you just did it again. How do you know his illness is fatal. You don't!

Pray for him, encourage him. That's coming alongside of him. Like the Comforter!

You cast doubt on all of us.

Imagine this easy-believism verses Nazarene piety

Two different worlds, opposites more or less, in approach, in goals, in expectations.
As an explorer in Christ it is finding a place where a sinner reaches their goal, and the
language that goes with this.

Paul uses language that implies he desired to walk like Jesus.

Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. 1 Cor 11:1

With such open sentiments, along with the monastic traditions whose whole focus is on
fulfilling the walk, it is obvious the goal is shared, the method or reasons not.

And this is a subject that has interested me my whole christian life.
So the idea of being flippant just brings a sense it is not worth even beginning.

Hi vco,

We are to be like Jesus.

Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed--
in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
1 Cor 15:51-52

And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,
who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body
Phil 3:20-21

Being like Jesus is not being God.
It is to have His mind, His heart, His desires and to have a body like His glorious body.

And I am an evangelical christian. Maybe you do not know about our final goal in Christ
properly. I suggest you study a bit more, and answer the question of how do we go from
where we are to this place in heaven?

You may call yourself evangelical, but YOUR ATTITUDE of not wanting to Bow or Prostrate yourself before GOD, it NON-EVANGELICAL.

1 John 2:6 (HCSB)
6 The one who says he remains in Him should walk just as He walked.

2 Kings 17:36 (NJB)
36 You are to bow down and offer sacrifice only to Yahweh who brought you out of Egypt with great power and outstretched arm.

WE EVANGELICALS BELIEVE YAHWEH IS ALSO JESUS CHRIST, . . . . . . . DO YOU?

Traditions. My tradition is one of challenge and checking, how are we with the Lord.
Let us turn and humble ourselves and praise Him, spend time with Him.

In your tradition, this is probably interpreted as condemnation and causing people to doubt.

Stones, the subject of certain types of illness are best not discussed here.
There are many things that can be miss-understood and even knowledge held by others.
God bless you.

Wonderful passage! Kinda negates the perfect holiness in this life thing though.

Right here you, and Scripture admit that WE WILL BE LIKE JESUS PERFECTLY WHEN OUR BODIES ARE TRANSFORMED.
This is an obvious admission that we CAN'T be perfect in mind and soul while we still dwell in our dead Earthly bodies.

I also attend a Nazarene Church. I didn't specifically seek it out, and I have some differences with some of the stuff they believe, but the Holy Spirit is CERTAINLY Present there!

I believe for whatever His purposes are HE sent me there, and I love the people.

Hi vco,

I am happy to worship the Lord standing, bowing or being prostrate.
I have never said otherwise, so saying what you are saying makes no sense, as I have not said this.
I sometimes lie on the floor to emphasis my worship and submission to the King, always indebted
and thankful for His love and mercy, to a redeemed saint. God bless you

Are we a broken cistern or a beautiful vessel worthy of the King?

Some want to believe God the creator sees us and is happy to leave us alone, broken, empty and defeated.
But Gods desire is this

just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,
and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
Eph 5:25-27

God does not leave us but transforms, heals and remakes us.

just to add- pay attention to what one does, not just what one says.

speaking of walking like Jesus, walking toward perfection, etc... while at the same time calling members old, bitter, blind, deaf and dumb.

Hi Penn,

Interesting you go to a Nazarene church. I do not like this media and forums, because it makes people
jump to the wrong conclusions. I am not a sinless perfectionist, but I do believe in the walk and where
we are headed.

There are people who deny any walk or value in such a thing, to any degree, and will say and do anything
to create a wrong impression of others.

In a culture where morality and purity are being destroyed, establishing in Christ we have a heart to be
like Him, is important, foundational. I was struck that faith in Him for change is what all believers actually
believe because we are so sick of how we are and we literally want to be different.

It seems though to articulate this has been turned into "evil". Some have said the enemy has been largely to
blame for this, and they might be right. So brother, hello, God bless you.
On the interesting side, every time I find people and we share a blessing in the Lord, it has gone in some
way back to a Nazarene church. I have never been to such a place, but it probably is more my home than
anywhere.

Hello TT,

I like your language, thank you for complementing me for creating a whole gospel by myself.
It makes better sense to say the Nazarene Piety gospel is a sugar coated counterfeit gospel.

Now if that is your position, good for you, for being so assertive.
But apart from just expressing your feelings, it has no other content.

Would you like to provide some, so that people can know what you are actually justifying your position on?
It is like a child going on strike and running out of a room screaming. Yes they are upset

And to those who attend a Nazarene church, would you like to help them leave or should they just call you
a false teacher?

I think fruits of the spirit depend upon the measure of the spirit we receive just like gifts of the spirit. Do all speak in tongues? do all receive discernment or dream, dreams? No! As far as works go do all do missionary work, feed and clothe the homeless? Do all do prison ministry or tend to the sick and dying? No again, but let's get back to basic Christianity 101 To those who receive much, much is expected but those who receive less, less is expected. I think works are a measure of spirituality and should be done willingly out of gratitude with thanks giving in our hearts. Nothing more nothing less.

Do we ask questions at Bible study that some may be too embarrassed to ask? Do we show up early to make coffee or stay late to clean up or fold chairs? Do we donate GOOD clothes we would not be embarrassed to wear. Do we share from the heart out of love? I don't consider myself a qualified fruit inspector. Rather an ad hoc nut inspector, trying to determine the legitimate from the crazy. Love came to me immediately upon receiving the Holy Spirit but the rest took study, education, practice and work. I say 'I' a lot because regarding personal revelation I cannot speak for others. It's easy to say the sinners prayer but putting the talk to the walk is a different matter.

Most authorities likely would think John the Baptist nuts but those who repented and got baptized got the message. Repent being the key word. Baptism of the Holy Spirit and having a true spiritual experience is far better than taking a bath and reading a book. It's undeniable and motivational. Ask the Lord for it. It changes lives and attitudes immediately. Good works will be the result. You will joyfully to do them and they will be a rewarding experience.
AMEN!!! Brother!!! Praise Jesus mighty name boldly from the rooftops. I feel so overflowing brother, He is so powerful, He keeps me in awe, and I can't help but proclaim His name everywhere I am, given any chance for conversation at all.

I know He is telling Habakkuk, in Habakkuk 1:5 “Look among the nations, and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told... "

But I can't help but pray back"Thank You Lord, I am looking, and I am "ASTOUNDED", every day. Praise our God in the Name of Jesus. :D:D:LOL:

PeterJens, you have no humility and anyone who follows in your steps is doomed, never have I seen a counterfeit gospel so deceptive than yours.

Repent and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
