He raised up a New Creation at the resurrection of Christ. The first day of the week is also the eighth day. And all Christians were raised up together with Christ to walk in newness of life: Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. (Rom 6:4)

It is significant in this context that the circumcision of Hebrew children was to be on the eighth day. There are also physiological reasons why the eighth day was selected by God, but the meaning is a new heart and a new spirit. Thus Paul says: For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. (Rom 2:28,29)
Interesting.

Hebrews 4:3
"Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, "So I declared on oath in my anger, 'They shall never enter my rest.'" And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world."

How can one enter God's rest if it happened for just one day a long, long time ago? The answer is that God's day of rest is ongoing.
This would then mean that the eighth day has not yet come.

The eighth day is the resurrection, the judgment and the destruction of death. The eighth day is the fuller restoration to God. As you have indicated it was on that eighth day that males were circumcised, symbolizing their restoration to God. But circumcision is just a symbol pointing to the eighth day. Circumcision did not bring forth the eighth day. Likewise, our baptism points to our full restoration to God (the eighth day), but it does not bring about our full restoration to God. We are not fully restored until that day.

Our full restoration to God does not occur until the eighth day when God 's kingdom will come on earth as it is in heaven.

My point is that if the seventh and eighth days are not 24 h days, then perhaps the first six days may not have been 24h days either.

my opinion to this, only God knows.
.
God knows how long the 'days' of creation are. The Hebrew scribe who penned Genesis knew how long the days of creation were, and any Hebrew scholar knows that the word 'yom' is a homonym.

Here is an another example of the word 'yom' which simply means a period of time. In this example in Genesis 43:8-9 the word 'yom' means "for ever."

And Judah said unto Israel his father, Send the lad with me, and we will arise and go; that we may live, and not die, both we, and thou, and also our little ones. I will be surety for him; of my hand shalt thou require him: if I bring him not unto thee, and set him before thee, then let me bear the blame "for ever" (yom)

My only hope is that God will forgive those who corrupt His Holy Word by making out the days of creation were were six days, each day being 24 hours long. It is our responsibility to rightly divide the word of truth.

There's simply no such thing as physical time, time is a construct of a conscious mind, it doesn't exist outside a mind.
O yea, well it took some time for me to answer, yea it is a physical thing.

I sit here reading the things you write, and I just find myself in utter disbelief that an adult human being is writing them.

"ONE astute theorist" has overturned what every other earth scientist (and most casual observers) know to be true?

I think it's best if I just dismiss you from further academic discussions at this point.

Have a good one!

If God created the universe in six ordinary days, then it adds upto nearly 6000 years from today. If so, how do we see the stars which are beyond 6000 light years? If we see a star which is 10000 light years away means, the star exists for at least 10000 years. If the age of universe is 6000 years, then it would take another 4000 years to see that star. Any thoughts??
that’s what people say but that’s using modern minutes and seconds to determine a day. the ancient people were limited as to knowing an actual 24 hour day, the twilight and dawn was the hardest to know. first light to actual sun rise over the horizon is about 18 minutes.

So what is your opinion of Ussher's chronology?
Speaking of Chronology, about the seven Biblical periods, six of them have closed by complete. We just entered in the seventh and last Biblical period.

Based in the Word of God, the source of the truth, on God's six Days of creation and one Day of rest (a total of seven Days) plus the Scriptures that teach that one Day is with the Lord as a thousand years (Psalm 90:4; II Pet. 3:8; Heb. 4:4) so MANKIND will go through six God Days of 1,000 years each (a total of 6,000 years) plus a Millennium of 1,000 years rest (now a total of 7,000 years).

In accord biblical Chronology, we can number our days, beginning in Genesis chap.5, as follow:

Adam lived …..................................................130 yrs and begat Seth
Seth lived .......................................................105 yrs and begat Enosh;
Enosh lived .......................................................90 yrs and begat Kenan;
Kenan lived........................................................70 yrs and begat Mahalalel;
Mahalalel lived ...............................................65 yrs and begat Jared;
Jared lived ......................................................162 yrs and begat Enoch;
Enoch lived ......................................................65 yrs and begat Methuselah;
Methuselah lived.........................................187 yrs and begat Lamech;
Lamech lived ................................................182 yrs and begat Noah;
From Noah´s birth until the Flood.......600 yrs.
Total of yrs from Adam to the Flood=1,656 yrs.

I work with the Word of God. Notice that the table above is proved by the Word of God, it is not of human theories or human speculations. Let us study the times until our days not by human theories and speculations, but by the own Word of God.

See the table below:

PERIODS OF BIBLICAL TIMES ---------------------------------- DURATION
I - From Adam until the Flood------------------------------------ 1,656 years (as was showed above)
II - From the Flood until Abraham---------------------------------. 427 years
III - From Abraham until Exodus-----------------------.------------ 430 years
IV - From Exodus until king Saul -----------------------.----------- 396 years
V - From Saul until the fall of Jerusalem -----------------.-------. 508 years
VI - From the fall of Jerusalem until Jesus ----------------.------ 587 years
Thus, from Adam until the 1st coming of Jesus -----------.--- 4,004 years

From Jesus until our days (Christian Calendar)------------.--- 2,018 years
Total from Adam until our days -----------------------.-----------6,022 years

Jesus came in the fourth Day (the Greater Light, yes, the Greater Light, - Gen.1:v.16) or around 4.000 years from the beginning of God's Plan of restoration of all things.

From JESUS (fourth Day) until our days, have passed more two Days or around 2,000 years, totalizing 6 complete Days or six milleniums, or around 6.000 years, more precisely 6.018 years, according Christian Calendar pointing the transiction from year 2.018 to 2019.

So, we have entered in the FIRST century of the seventh and last millennium, or seventh and last Day of God's time, that is the Great Sabbath, the Millennium of Christ, the Millennium of Truth, the Millennium of Judgment - the Judgment Seat of Christ - and the Millennium of Vengeance in accord Scriptures.

God Father has already entered in His rest - seventh Day - as He had planned in the beginning of His works, but He is not sleeping, of course, and JESUS already assumed the government not only of the whole Earth but also of the Universe. JESUS is now sat on His Throne, the Judgment Seat of Christ.

The world of Devil is already Judged, and Condemned, and now, in this seventh and last millennium, the world of Devil with all its structures, religious, politic, economic, military, social, cultural, etc., will be punished with strong punishments, yea, strong punishments, there will be only and only punishments in this seventh and last Day or seventh and last millennium, the Day of the Lord JESUS, King of kings and LORD of lords.

JESUS is now sat on His Throne, the Judgment Seat of Christ, to Judge all nations, taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not His gospel, who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the Glory of His Power.

And the kingdoms of THIS WORLD are become the KINGDOMS of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He shall reign for ever and ever. (Rev.11:15)

verse 18 says: And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and should DESTROY them which destroy the earth.

Your timetable fails because your assertion that one day is 1,000 years to God is built on half-truths and out-of-context statements. Nowhere does Scripture state plainly and exclusively that one day to God is 1,000 years to us. The passages you cite describe it in parallel with other comparative measures. The principle is that time is perceived by us differently than by God.

In the Garden of Eden there was not death. There was an Eternity before the fall of the inhabitants of Eden. A Cherub ruled the Garden of Eden for an Eternity, many many billions of years, until to rebel against his Creator, the Most High God, Father of the Lord JESUS Christ, the Word made flesh. God is a title, the Word is God.

The angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. (Jude 1:v.6-7) By the way, the Everlating Spirit of God is a consuming fire.

You are no brother of mine, thats for sure!

Disrespecting a saved man like Ken Ham, and taking a compliment for being compared to antichrist atheist Bill Nye.

This would be a good time to question if you're even saved.
Never heard of Ken Ham. Is he related to Kevin Bacon?

Read Genesis chapter 4. Early man was not building walled cities like Cain did in another land where there were other people. Neither was early man making tents v20. Early men were hunter-gatherers, but Cain was a farmer and Able was a shepherd. Neither did cavemen make musical instruments like the harp and organ and verse 22 tells us they were working in brass and iron. This is the bronze age, not too far removed from our own.

Read the Bible for goodness sake.

The history of biological development is a well-established and well-integrated theory that is based on a variety of evidence in a variety of disciplines, examined by scientists from a variety of backgrounds with a variety of beliefs. The major tenets of biological development are no longer in question by any rational observer.

Wow... just wow.

That was really quite a work of rhetorical nonsense.

So many of your arguments APPEAR to be oh so logical, but they're really just carefully constructed nonsense designed to couch glaring logical fallacies that shut down debate through nothing more substantial than clever rhetoric.

Your statement above is just utter nonsense, and is a perfect example.

Here you have multiple fallacies strung together into one ridiculous statement, which you can defend against any opposition by simply smearing that opposition as "irrational" based on a groundless presupposition.

It is ridiculous, illogical, elitist, and slanderous.

It might appear to be the work of a mind which is very clever, but not overly concerned with either veracity or charity... two things with which Christians are supposed to be concerned.

Moving Forward.

In fairness, I don't think you're wrong about everything.
Not everything.

However, most of the people on CC make some genuine effort at honesty and integrity.
But you just seem to have some overwhelming compulsion to beat everyone down, really just beat them to a pulp through clever sounding arguments... even if you have to intentionally resort to logical fallacies, or sink to ridiculing your opponents to shout them down.

What are you even doing here on a Christian forum?

Do you even believe any part of the Bible is true?

Do you even believe Jesus was a real person?

Do you believe in the atonement; that Christ died for YOUR sins?

Let's start with that: do you believe in the atoning sacrifice of Christ, that he died for your personal sins in order to reconcile you to God?

And yes, I can see from your personality type that you're going to be all upset with me now.
Too bad.
Answer the question.
Do you believe in the atoning sacrifice of Christ, that he died for your personal sins in order to reconcile you to God?

So you think the Bible is rhetorical nonsense. Shame on you. Here is what the Bible says more fully.

The Bible is correct, but unfortunately that cannot always be said about our understanding. The Bible tells us Adam and Eve had a son called Cain (and others). Reading about Cain in Genesis chapter 4 we discover he was scared he would be put to death because he killed his brother. This speaks of an established legal system that included the death penalty for murder. Verse 15 says "lest any finding him should kill him" means there were other people.

Verse 17 tells us Cain had a wife who was not from his homeland so wasn't his mother or sister, which is a common misconception. We are also told he settled in the land of Nod where they were building walled cities. Walled cities were used for defence against other people and other nations and the building of walled cities can be dated fairly precisely.

Verse 20 tells us Jabal was the father of tent dwellers. Tents came long after cave dwellers. Early men were hunter gatherers and farming came later. Cain was a farmer and Able was a shepherd. This is a late development in the history of humankind.

Verse 20 tells us they were making musical instruments like the harp and organ, but early man did not have musical instruments.

And verse 22 tells us they were working in brass and iron.

This is the bronze age, not too far removed from our own. Flint tools were much earlier. There were Cavemen and several ice-ages through which people had previously lived. Now they were able to till the soil, farm the land and reap the harvest.
