The thing with tongues, is a lot of people have been anointed and they speak.
It is a way of sharing your spirit with the Lord.

It is both in scripture and in peoples lives. I am not here to defend imitations
but just testify to people and the Lords blessing of them.

We obviously cannot agree on tongues. That is fine.
Pauls spoke in tongues all the time, so if that is others experiences why should I
condemn it or not believe it. It is not for everyone, which equally is fine.

Speaking in tongues was a gift given, a sign, given (Isaiah 28:11) during the laying of the foundation of the Church (Hebrews 2:4). It was a sign to the Jews (Acts 2:6). Speaking in tongues has served God's purpose, God has given the sign (1Cor 14:21), and God has laid the foundation (Eph 2:20). Speaking in tongues by the Gentiles showed the Jews that God granted even the Gentiles repentance unto life (Acts 11:18). Tongue speakers spoke mysteries (1 Cor 14:2); consequently, the mystery of the gospel has been given (Eph 6:19). Speaking in tongues is the language of angels (1 Cor 13:1), angels minister to humans (Hebrews 1:14). Humans are to understand speaking in tongues in earthly languages (Acts 2:6, 11). Speaking in tongues would be “stilled” (1 Cor 13:8).

The believers in the Bible times who spoke in tongues, they spoke in tongues supernaturally. The believers who supposedly speak in tongues nowadays, they speak gibberish and believe God turns their gibberish into supernatural language, and that is a false doctrine.

People speak another language that they are not aware of.
Others have actually heard them speaking and wondered how they knew their language.

There are those who do just literally babble and it is meaningless.
As we are talking across literally millions of people generalities are difficult.

I believe in tongues simply because I have seen it and experienced it and it is in Pauls writings.
Do I need to know more? It is no more special than feeling blessed in the Lord.

I dealt with that with scripture.
You need to deal with the scriptures I gave instead of giving your worthless opinions on it.

You still can not PROVE the tongues spoken of in 1 cor 12 and 14 is the stuff we see in many holy roller churches today.

Aaah, very easy to know what you do and what you think regarding tongues and when it comes to snake handlers, you can not dismiss their tongues because you do not have any basis to do so and also can not support them because you know it is fake. Whichever answer you choose, you loose, therefore confirming what we already know - that modern day phenomenon of tongues is all fake.

I did, they quoted me the same verses that you are quoting here as a basis for what they believed (tongues).

Hi CS1,
I had a very uplifting sharing with a lady on chat here on cc, a total stranger.
We talked about walking in the Lord and knowing His support and love.
It was so brilliant, it touched my heart like few things have recently.

It showed to me a real contrast to where people are, just in how they share
and the spirit of encouragement. I had hoped His people would be more
open, but I do wonder sometimes. I did though want to encourage you,
because in the Lord it can be hard to see encouragement in between the
