This was a very sensitive topic to have been brought up. Sorry it was spoken of so casually by people. As you see no one really has an answer that doesent conflict with another. Sorry for your loss. I mean it. May God bless you....
Thank you

There is only one unforgivable sin. Not accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior. Dyin

Yes, this is a very sensitive subject and as such, I find speaking about it so casually is an affront to those whom have experienced it with a love one. There is only one unforgivable sin

If you are absolutely positive within your soul 100% convinced, without a shadow of any doubt, in your view of how you see this played out concerning your loved one(s). Then why does it matter if someone believes you, disagrees with you, or approaches suicide however they may?

In my view of things, unless gunshot and your dead instantly or any way that ends you A.S.A.P., as long as you have time before your final breath is taken, if subconsciously you are aware and understand you are dying and it's too late, if you mentally scream out sincerely to God for forgiveness, that individual will be with their Maker when their last breathe has gone and is no more.

But, if you are convinced and persuaded concerning your loved one(s) no longer with you, then anything I add to agree/disagree should be no issue for you. You have a promise that you are standing upon. And our god does not break His promises nor does He lie!!

You go through a suicide among your loved ones and then speak out. What I post is not "my opinion." It's my experience.
What you went through is sad. I am happy you have the LORD. I know that through many years HE got me and my family through my mom's passing under the same circumstances.

Now for my comment to you about
Merriam-Webster is not God's Word.
That is true but You had originally stated suicide was not murder. That is your opinion, which is not based on the word of GOD. The Word of GOD say thou shall not murder. It does not explicitly say that the murdering that we must not do is of another. It only says we are not to murder; take a life. To take a life is a sin. To teach that it is not is a sin.

To pass judgment on the sinner in regards to salvation is not our place either. However it is our responsibility to share what it is that is Sin along with what it means to have salvation in Christ.

Please don't argue over words. 2 Timothy 2:14 says this: "Remind the believers of these things, charging them before God to avoid quarreling over words, which is in no way profitable and leads its listeners to ruin."

Nobody can really know about this subject. I can’t relate with people who are considering this option. If I choose to commit suicide then to me it’s like quitting serving God.

The muslims actually do believe by comitting suicide they are serving God (their god allah) but as christians you will not see any justifcation for it, no christian suicide bombers here.

As someone who was healed from bipolar disorder, let me tell you I had doctors constantly asking if I was going to comit suicide when it had never crossed my mind...its power of suggestion when they constantly asked me and Im like NO, why are you asking me this? They just expect it. When people suggest to you that you might kill yourself, they are doing the devils work and you have got to stand up to a lie.

It’s quite the predicament we Christians as in. It’s clear we aren’t supposed to live for comfort in this life. There are many scriptures encouraging us to look forward to death, and I do. It’s not out of depression however, it’s curiosity.

I’m not by any means suicidal but what keeps me here most is my sense of duty to God. It is a mystery to me how any Christian, cares enough about anything in this life to be so depressed to think death is the only option. As children of God, we aren’t supposed to live for money, or sex, or acceptance. Our life was purchased so we could lay down these temporal cares and serve God. So if you aren’t living for Christ are you really a Christian? It’s not a salvation through works question, but rather a submission to His authority. If we think we can take our life did we really surrender, or believe He is Lord.

This is how I think this question needs to be answered. The question isn’t, if you commit suicide are you forgiven? The question is, if you commit suicide did you really submit to the authority of Christ? Were you saved to begin with?

Suicide is sin.. It is self murder..

But all sins are forgiven if one believes Jesus and trusts in the atonement He secured on the cross..

If you commit suicide do you go to hell? What if you have failed at suicide then later die of natural causes?
Are you having suicidal thoughts and urges? Literally, there are help lines in almost every country in the developed world.

My daughter worked a distress line for many years, helped many people stop thinking about suicide.

Is your life unbearable? Are you being abused? Is your past overwhelming you? Do you have intrusive thoughts telling you to do this?

You may have given up hope, but God has not given up on you. If your pastor has given up on you, find a better church.

My suggestion is to read 5 psalms a day. Read them every day. Listen to the voices of God's people and how God helped them through their struggles.

Praying for you.

So i can only conclude from your post that if a person sins after claiming to be a follower of the LORD Jesus then that proves they where not saved to begin with..

I would hate to be in anyone's shoes if they believe that or preach that..

Does anyone here want to stand up and proclaim they have never sinned since the day they believed Jesus and trusted in the atonement He secured for their salvation?

It’s not sinning I’m talking about. It’s the complete feeling of despair that causes the sin. I don’t see how anyone can commit their life, believe He is Lord and has eternal rewards in store for them and still be so upset about their current situation to end it permanently. It just doesn’t compute. It’s not a natural desire for any organism to want to die. You have to reach an ultimate low, and feel like there is no way out. I just don’t see how you can have saving faith and still reach that level of despair. It’s not a quick decision. People who make that choice have thought about it for a long time. Within that time if they haven’t considered what God thinks about it then they really don’t care what God thinks.

Suicide....such a sad and awful conclusion to ones life.
Not only for the victim of it but also for the loved ones that are left to search for closure.
It is a reminder to me of how frail we really are. How sin and hopelessness can leave you in such despair the need to end your life is the only conclusion. Mixed with mental and emotional defects and chemical imbalances it becomes the only answer to most.
First of all we are all capable of this act . Jesus said in this world you will suffer many tribulations but be of good cheer I have over come this world.
He also said cast your burdens (anxieties) upon me I will sustain you.
The scriptures seem silent on this subject but according to Jesus his teachings show us he was well aware of what this life could bring.
Paul encourages us to fight the good fight untill the end.
So what happens when one ends the battle by their own hand? Or are over come by disabilities that prevent rational thought?
We have a God of Mercy of grace and love. We also have a God who is holy , just and righteous. It's a beautiful thing.
John 3:16 tells us that Christ died for the sins of the whole world that those who believe in him shall not parish.
But what if one was truly incapable of rational thought???? Are they excluded and sentence to the second death?
In my opinion God's for knowing this and Jesus expressing that life's challenges can be overwhelming I say no.
Here enters in the scape goat which Jesus was and is. The unknown sins sent outside the walls of the temple.
So the God of Mercy grace and love can remain the God that is Holy, Just, and righteous.

I’m curious as to whether this is a modern day affliction. Is the reason it wasn’t mentioned in the Bible because it wasn’t a thing?

Why cant anyone understand? Cant you see that a person in that much pain is not in the frame of mind to have level headed decisions? If it were you or i im sure we wouldlnt be listening or talking like this. To me its like jumping out of a window because of a fire burning behind you. Before the fire there was no thinking about jumping out the widow. Think about it.
God bless.....

If someones not in their right mind they need God more than anything because God does not give us a spirit of fear, but one of love, and power and a SOUND MIND.

Doublemindedness is an affliction, we are to be singleminded for God.
Someone who is doubleminded is being influenced by satan. They are constantly vacilliating or wavering between right and wrong. They cannot receive anything from God if they continue to be in two minds about Him.

With something like bipolar disorder, the mind is unstable and sensitive to outside influences, its not balanced. What I learned is one needs to fix ones mind on God, who gives us His peace, and is the solid rock so that we will NOT waver. When you do that, bipolar disorder will leave. It the enemy trying to influence and rock the boat so that you will have a breakdown or capsize. But what was Jesus like on the boat, even in the storm? He was having a nap! He was so calm and peaceful, and completely trusting in His Father!

Of course Jesus was calm, He is God. You cannot compare people with God. And again, you need to be respectful with your wording. People have already been hurt with this topic. Show them respect and apologize to them. Do the right thing!!!!!!!
