Does 1 Corinthians 3:15 REALLY teach that saints who backslide and never repent only forfeit rewards?

Ahwatukee: "There is not such place as Purgatory. One cannot and will not be purged with fire and then allowed into heaven.

Mindless pontifications like this are no substitute for the hard work of critical engagement with relevant portions of God's Word. For a refutation see my latest post in my Release from Hell thread. btw, I'm not Catholic!

I don't know anything about Catholic teachings but I do know some Christians who believe in universalism. I can't say why though, have not seen this in scripture. So purgatory is a new concept. I think like the council of Jews who said, we will hear of the matter.

I don't discount anything until I know that I know.

But, my question would be what does saved as by fire mean? I've heard the Lords eyes are fire. We will be like Him when we see Him? Burning up what's hay, stubble, ?

The more I see, the more my questions rise.

I repeat, there is no such thing as Purgatory, period! There is no opportunity for salvation after death. Ask the rich man who is still in torment in flame in Sheol/Hades and who will be resurrected out after the millennial period, along with all of the rest of the unrighteous dead and will stand at the great white throne to be judged.

Saves as through fire is nothing more than a symbolic representation as to what it looks like

Even in jesus day, If a persons house caught fire. There was many times people had to run through the fire to get out. After the fire, they have nothing left but ashes to show for their life.

Yet they still had life (they were saved)

Ahwatukee: "I repeat, there is no such thing as Purgatory, period! There is no opportunity for salvation after death."

And I repeat: mindless pontifications merely demonstrate ideas that get lonely and a reluctance to get deeper into the Word. I have challenged you to come to terms with my detailed defense based on texts that imply release from Hell and you freeze like Bambi in the headlights before the glare of those texts and flee from direct engagement with them.

Atwaukee: "Ask the rich man who is still in torment in flame in Sheol/Hades and who will be resurrected out after the millennial period, along with all of the rest of the unrighteous dead and will stand at the great white throne to be judged."

Duh, that rich man is a fictional character in a parable and fictional characters don't get "resurrected out!" True, sinners like him can't just engineer a jail break out of Hades. But God''s Word teaches that such sinners can repent and be retrieved with divine help and you have chosen to ignore the texts from my thread that demonstrate this, instead preferring glib pontifications that lack engagement with the relevant texts.

Hebrew-Greek-English=count the un-named translations-idioms-literary devices=
one better have The Holy Spirit before trying to understand -
as it is written;

MARK 4:12.
That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand;
lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

3:15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

The point was that this verse has nothing to do with determining whether or not one is saved. It is about the quality and rewards for a given believer's works. Some will not have much in the order of rewards, but they will still be saved.
Amen. There I agree. But not all who believe will be saved.
