problem with many believers, they see and believe certain aspects of the bible but they do not see it as a whole, or they take a passage or part of the bible and apply it to everything and they make certain teachings more important then others. we need to have a balanced view of the bible and listen to everything that it says and teaches.

Amen to that brother! Or sister!

I constantly am trying to find that AH Haaa, gotcha moment that contradicts another verse.....I have yet to come close.
I have not read the entire Bible yet but, somethings I read may not be fully understood by me at this present time but, no way am I confident enough to lean on it with conviction of contradiction.

I have come across someone recently who is someone who operates in a, I can guarantee my future peace and happiness if I have my plan. (Work a lot now, store a lot of money, etc...)

I quoted the birds who don’t store away verse and the one to not worry about tomorrow verse.

His response was, “Oh, that isn’t meant literally!” And he is a believer.

Although I agree, if a believer does not understand everything yet, SINCE none of us will EVER accomplish understanding it all until we reach the other side. Let them use what they know. If they continue to press onward, gaining knowledge through revelation, eventually they will learn to eat meat and grow.

When i see what you have explained (using a few scriptures for everything), it alerts me that this person is like the rest of us, STILL GROWING and learning. But more than just that, it alerts me that this person is where God has them at for His own purpose. And it also alerts me that one day the light switch will figure out how to get flipped to "ON" position. It's generally just a matter of time before God shows them something new, for them to make progress in His knowledge.

But, if someone claims they have been saved for 50 years and are doing this, they must clearly like the kindergarten milk evidently :(

Tunnely enough, I agree with this.

Nope! There are only 2 types of people in this sorry world: those who speak in tongues and those who don't. On which side are you?
Grrr! :alien:

Seriously now, in a discussion forum like this, posters should learn to play with theological ideas and biblical interpretations in the hope that new insights might evolve from such play. Many posters learn very little by just vehemently defending what their church has taught them. I have published scholarly articles on the Bible and theology. I have learned this secret to discovering new perspectives: assume for the sake of argument that the standard view you always accepted is wrong, and then ask, "What should I find in Scripture, if I really have been wrong all these years?" Sometimes you might find it constructive to play devil's advocate. In any case, you should not feel bound to what you argue in a particular post. It's OK to explore new ideas by kicking the tires of the old ideas to see how well they stand up under closer scrutiny.

yes one idea by many people is that everyone sins but Jesus but this is not one i find in the bible, what about enoch and job and all the other Godly people, and one idea i just posted was revelation talking about a new king of heaven, i have never thought inside the box but always outside of it.

there are a lot of verses that seem to negate each other. and some verses that are just non-existing because we dont have septuagint but have masoretic hebrew.

such as in hebrews it says "you have prepared for me a body" when you go look up that psalm thats quoted it says no such thing in our bibles because its translated from masoretic hebrew that doesnt have it. what the apostle who wrote hebrews was quoting was the septuagint, greek ot.

hebrews 10:5
Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me;

psalm 40:6
Sacrifice and offering you did not desire-- but my ears you have opened -- burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require.

as can be seen, they were quoting a different ot version.

then there are also some not contradictions but things that make the other verse redundant and i dont know why.
such as: you read that egyptians hated israel and you think yeah they did because they were evil people. but it says God caused them to do it in psalm 105:25, he turned their hearts against israelites.
there are so many verses like this i wonder why people are blamed for what they did since it says God made them do it, isaiah 10, revelation 17:17, obedience is the same way: ezekiel 18:31 vs ezekiel 36:25-28.

numbers 21:23-24 Sihon would not allow israel to pass. but in deuteronomy 2:30 it says God hardened sihon's spirit to not let them pass.

there are too many examples for me to name, but could a pastor or bible scholar here tell me why was Sihon at fault for anything that he did? or the assyrians, or the people that crucified Jesus, or the egyptians who hated israel, if God predestined it to occur, why are they at fault? God says he predestined those things in the bible. acts 4:27-28.

unlike the "body you prepared for me" this cant be explained by saying its the septuagint.
