Everyone here absolutely agrees that God is all powerful and all is according to His will as we are led by the Holy Spirit. The problem I see with unpurposeful nonsensical babbling is that it leaves room for doubt....

Perhaps I would understand if I were ever gifted with tongues... Each to their own gifts and their own purpose I suppose...

You did not answer my question, instead you are describing your thoughts of how tongues are applied.
Q1. Why is it that for a member in the church to be edified by someone else's tongues, there must be an interpretation, meaning that there must be an understanding of the spoken words? Can members of the church be edified without interpretation or understanding since they have the same spirit in them?
Q2. The bible also talks of walking the spirit, if tongues are the spiritual language, what would 'walking in the spirit' look like?
What I wrote is not my thoughts on how tongues are applied, but rather how scripture is enacted on and put into practice.

The person operating the spiritual gift of speaking out in tongues edifies themselves (building up their faith); the gift of
interpretation given by the Holy Spirit edifies the congregation through: A) confirming the previous spiritual gift, and
B) allowing all to receive wisdom and instruction from God directly.
No understanding of the gift of tongues is necessary by any person as the interpretation is given by the Holy Spirit and not by any person's natural mind.
The gift of various tongues is only operated within a church meeting and therefore is always accompanied by interpretation through
the Holy Spirit.
This gift distributed within the church is different to the sign of praying in a new tongue that is given to everybody that is baptized in the Holy Spirit: these signs shall follow them that believe …

Walking in gthe Spirit or walking with the Lord is essentially what all the epistles are about. They are written to the Spirit-filled
church for the purpose of not just salvation theology, but very much on how to live as a Christian and to become children of light.
Romans 12 and Galatians 5 are two chapters that come to mind and are helpful on this topic.

Too funny, we objectively can determine that glossolalia is not a language
As far as linguistics goes, as with all social sciences it depend on which part of that field of study
What has any of this to do with a spiritual language that is of heaven and the angels?
In the end God perfectly understands our praying in tongues, and answeres wonderfully by blessings, healings and miracles.

You can easily edify someone by speaking a language they understand, so understanding is the main thing when it comes to edification- the reason tongues MUST be translated for the members of the church to be edified. Speaking unknown things can not and will never edify anyone. But of course you didn't get Paul on matters self edification- he simply meant the understanding remains with you and can not be transferred to others and it is not a wonderful thing.

The word of God is our Spiritual language. God gave it to us that we might understand and become wise unto eternal life.

The gift of speaking in tongues by getting the babtism with the Holy Spirit is a teaching which is little older then 119 years. Why should somone follow such a false doctrine?
That you made this expierience is no proof that it is right.
How many miracles are done in the name of Christ, but are from the enemy? The Lord himself said: that people will tell him we have cast out demons and have done miracles in your name. And He will say, go away I dont know you.
Btw, how spiritfilled where the corinthians? They are really no example for a spiritfilled church. And the seems to have the most problems with the gift of speaking in tongues.

Can you edify someone in English?
11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.
12 Like a gold ring or an ornament of gold is a wise reprover to a listening ear.
Proverbs 25: (ESV)
23 To make an apt answer is a joy to a man, and a word in season, how good it is!

Untrue. Fake news! False history.
Speaking (praying) in tongues and Holy Spirit revival come alive again from The Reformation onwards.

I do not speaking about speaking in tongues which occcurs also in cults. I speak about the doctrine that speaking in tongues is the proof to be baptised with the Holy Spirit. This is around 119 years old. And was not taught from reformation on.

How do you know when you do not even know what your praying?

I mean really man, come on!!

1. I babble incoherently
2. Something happens and appears to be blessed by God (whether it is or not is open to discussion)
3. My Babble had to be a prayer for that thing that happened so it was fulfilled.

That edifies you more than this?

1. A man prays (in his own language) for his wife to be healed of a tumor in her head
2. In corporate prayer in church, Everyone prays for this mans wife to be healed
3. Next time the wife goes to get checked, the tumor is GONE

4. The man AND THE CHURCH are EDIFIED as they have WITNESSED a miracle of God as well as answered prayer.

PS. I witnessed this very thing when a girl in our church was diagnosed with emphysema and two holes in her lung that miraculously disappeared with no medical reason (A TRUE MIRACLE which was enacted by the whole church praying in the spirit)

My turn to ask a question.

1 Corinthians 10:23-24 (NASB)
23 All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful,
but not all things edify.
24 Let no one seek his own, but that of his neighbor.

1 Corinthians 14:19 (NASB)
19 however, in the church I desire to speak five words with my mind so that I may instruct others also,
rather than ten thousand words in a tongue.

1 Corinthians 14:4 (NASB)
4 One who speaks in a tongue edifies himself;
but one who prophesies edifies the church.

Now, my question:

DID PAUL give us a REASON to speak in tongues,
Or rather, NOT to speak in Tongues ? ? ?

It leaves room for unbelief, no faith. Doubt leaves room for belief, faith

Or rather, NOT to speak in Tongues ? ? ?

I would think God gave a law in regard to the doctrine of tongues in order to help us cofirm what the sign of tongues represents. And not the work of tongues as God's word. Two different doctrines one as a sign the other a work of prophecy by which men can believe God

Tongues, is God's word as prophecy interpreted into all the nations of the world . God's word Tongues is God's interpretation. His name is Jealous in that way he will not share his glory with the clay he is forming ChristThere is no sign for those who believe the work of prophecy .

I would offer. Paul does not discourage hearing the word of God or prophesying "declaring tongues" (God's word) as that spoke in the language of many nations as his interpretation to them. It is that which comes from seeking His approval .

What he does discourage is unbelief (no faith) It is what the sign of tongues confirms, no faith, unbelief.

God bringing his interpretation in the language of all the nations of the world to confirm unbelief as sign using Jewish flesh a sign that speaks to the whole world . Sign are never limited to the flesh of one nation .One nation can be used as a sign . But never the substance of faith, belief . The word of God speaks to all who hear tongues and believe God .

Look to the law in the tongues doctrine which confirms God mocks with stammering lips those who mocks him and refuse to believe .Its foundation is found in Isaiah 28. The sign is confirmed in Acts 2 the idea of "signs gift" disappears and is replaced with spiritual gifts (unseen) things of faith. We have a living hope of a new body that will not age as in death .All saints died not receiving the promise but have received a better hope that surpass our understanding His veiled glory . That glory will be the light of new home. there will be no more night.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

Our God is the father of many nations He I think never makes His wisdom about the flesh of a Jew and gentile .We do not wrestles against flesh and blood. Again the gospel is a picture to the whole world. Tongues is part of that picture .

What are we showing the world that knows not Christ in respect to the unseen God we are following . . Would God say if you feel moved by a spirit put on a show, make a noise that has no meaning, fall back slain in the spirit ?

Would that performance called a time for a sign gift give a unbeliever enough information to interest them or would the unbeliever think. What a bunch of loony tunes making noises ?

No. It has was taught from the very beginning by Jesus and the Apostles.

The very beginning of what?

Really in respect to the foundation of the Tongue doctrine? (Isaiah 28 ) God mocking Jew with stammering lips as a sign against those with no faith.

I thought Isaiah was before Paul ? Does Paul quote it (Isaiah 28 ) as the foundation the law in In 1 Corinthians 14? Or is context not important?
