People often broadcast Jesus is lord but don't surrender to him. I think many don't completely know what Lord means so let us reason together and do a word study. The word is 'Lord'. @Deade Your good a stuff like this. Please enlighten us all.

What it boils down to is obedience. If God truly exists, which He does: and He truly has all power over all His creation: which is true, then we should obey Him. Jesus gave us this:

Luke 6:46-49 "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great."

So we not only do as Jesus said but we also follow His example and do the very same things He did while walking as a man. Did He need to be baptized for His sins? No, He was sinless, but He went through the baptism so we would follow His example. We can't go wrong by mimicking our Lord in every way.

Thanks @Deade I knew you'd come through. That was right on the mark. I entered Bible dictionary; Lord to my search engine and this is what came out.

lord
(1) ‘lord’ in small letters is someone who has authority. Someone that other people respect. — (2) ‘Lord’ with a capital ‘L’ is a name for God or Jesus in the Bible. Lord means someone who is above all other things. Someone with authority. We call God or Jesus Lord when we obey them. — (3) ‘LORD’ in capital letters is a special name for God. It is the name that God gave for himself to the Jews in the Old testament.

Be careful with the word Lord. Aaron called the Golden Calf Lord.

And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD. And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: (Exo 32:3-7 KJV)

I am convinced they made that image to represent the real God thundering over the mountain. That is the way of the Egyptians used to honor their gods. They must have been awestruck by the presence of God over the mountaintop. They probably thought they would please God with their golden image. Of course, they were wrong. :)

Good topic.
---
"... Jesus Christ is Lord, to the Glory of God the Father."
Philippians 2:11
---
"Jesus is Lord" means
- His triumph over evil.
- His ultimate reign.
