oooh-raw!
Christians who participate in the shooting sports is not strange, people who profess to be Christ followers who think of inanimate objects in terms of hurting people is strange and inconsistent, in my view.
His people build up others, the adversaries tear down.

It would be like in Old Testament times, if all the Israelites threw away their swords and said "We don't need swords, we've got God." Which would be true, but I don't know if it's always supposed to work like that.

Sort of like the time David sent his musicians ahead of the army as they went to battle...

Hello, fellow gun-toting Christians! I stop by your pleasant forum to bid you good day, and to prove that I too am a real man, in the absence of an actual men's forum. :)
Some of the members here on the gun thread have been known to drive cars with bad gas mileage too. I don't have a gun here at home but I still have fond memories of my US Army service in the 101st Airborne Division firing my M-16, grenade launcher and hand-held rocket launcher.

Even though it has half the population of the other 22 nations combined, the United States accounted for 82 percent of all gun deaths. The United States also accounted for 90 percent of all women killed by guns, the study found. Ninety-one percent of children under 14 who died by gun violence were in the United States. And 92 percent of young people between ages 15 and 24 killed by guns were in the United States, the study found. other statistics are much worse.
I ask you, would Jesus be proud of those statistics?

In the same way that there is a batman. Are you a ratman or a miceman?
Yes. When I was young, I got bitten by a radioactive rodent, which gave me the super powers of squeaking, gnawing, and crawling along ropes with ease. I now roam the streets at night, dressed as a giant rat, fighting crime, scaring folks who take short cuts through the back alleys, and helping myself to the odd serving of cheese.

Ah! Driving cars with bad gas mileage! What says "Global warming is a scam" better than a car pumping out a little more than it's fair share of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere! :)

In Roman times, the same statistics could likely be made about swords. And don't car fatalities make gun fatalities pale in comparison? But I don't hear you whining we should get rid of cars.

Guns are a tool, like cars are a tool. But unlike cars, guns are a tool only real men can actually use. Some, like Tourist, used this tool in their earlier days. But he still found a way to use it. Man will always find a way to murder his brother, like with Cain and Abel. But to ban such a useful tool in an effort to cure a disease which lies deep inside man's dark heart would be quite naive, to put it politely.

I fully concur with your estimation on these points.

ok genius explain the statistics: all wars americans have been involved
in death toll is 1.2million...since 1968 only there have been over 15 million
scripture says that just because we are allowed to do something,
doesn't mean we should. of all civil countries..america is the highest
in murder rates...so i guess you are happy with that statistic.

The thing is, even if a constitutional amendment was passed banning all guns in the US the bad guys don't abide by the law so they alone would remain armed. It is interesting to note that in cities with strict gun control laws there is a higher murder rate than in cities where the lawful citizens are allowed to defend themselves. In Florida, there is the Stand Your Ground law. If a bad guy breaks in your home or threatens you or your family in anyway, you can shoot him dead with no legal repercussions whatsoever. Personally, I don't own a weapon but understand the need for doing so as you cannot rely strictly on the police to protect you.

The protection of stand your ground laws transfers somewhat, the villain knows not who is and who isn't armed.
Probability of apprehension is the deterrent to crime, not apprehending 1 out of 100 and throwing the book at him.

Years of pandering to fringe elements and selling out sound, principled living for the sake of votes has driven the base of the party away, now they only represent the fringe element. Given the repubs still don't truly represent the working people but the rich, there needs to be a further shift in the republican party to move away from greed.

A far more scarier thought than guns. Even worse, a rat with a gun. This is becoming traumatising for me.
Oh, don't be traumatised by me. I'm a crime fighting rat. So when I'm not trying to blend in as a particularly overweight and more-scalier-tailed-than-usual performing circus-mouse, I'm out catching criminals, and keeping the streets clean. Or relatively clean, as some folks point out, because rats are sometimes thought of as dirty animals. And don't worry if you are a criminal, but only a petty one - I generally turn a blind eye to victimless crimes like music or software piracy, parking infringements, jay-walking - even banknote forgery. I mean, if it wasn't for governments, everyone would be doing those sorts of things, anyway.

No, when I talk about crime, I'm refering to the types of crimes most governments don't really care about - murder, rape, and violent robbery. So unless you fit into one of these categories, I'm not the sort of gun-toting rat to be worried about.
