I get to keep my hands and eyes

Hooray

I think my hands are beautiful, and so are my eyes

Or, beauty from appreciation

I hate gouging my eyes
I hate chopping off my hands
Therefore, it is impossible to love God and obey Matthew 5 at the same time
Therefore it is impossible to love God at all times
But the Bible says, many are called, few are chosen
In that few exist, so how can that be?
How can there be few instead of "none"?
If every fiber of our being cause us to sin, ... For the wages of sin is death
And Jeremiah 17:9 - our heart is desperately wicked
And Ephesians says that we are dead in trespasses and sin, therefore life is impossible
Free are chosen, few are more than none, so how is that possible?
This is just being obtuse. If Jesus did not mean us to remove body parts what is He saying?

NIV1984 1 Corinthians 5:9-13
I have written you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat. What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked man FROM AMONG YOU.”

NIV1984 Ephesians 4:11-16
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Workers of salvation in the body of Christ and not workers of iniquity. Cut them off and gouge them out of the body of Christ, those who are CLAIMERS OF SALVATION but works iniquity.

NIV1984 Matthew 7:21-23
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

Are you really telling me that you were not able to discern the hyperbole?
Lordship, Lord Lord obey, acknowledge him in all thy ways

Count your cost, be a living sacrifice, be slave to righteousness, love God with all your being

We need to review what is a hyperbole

Or what is prescriptive or descriptive?

And God claim not to be the author of confusion but of peace

you see, the issue with this statement is this- no salvation is mentioned.
Justification, regeneration, and adoption are all aspects of salvation. The other two are sanctification and glorification, which are dealt with later in the treatise. But to say that salvation is not mentioned doesn't take into account that a person who is justified, regenerated, and adopted are SURELY saved.

I think this is where f.h.s ( peterjens ) gets things crossed up.

a person is forgiven, justified and SAVED the moment they truly believe. the person remains so as long as they truly believe.
Justification is an essential part of salvation. Salvation is regenerated, justified, adopted, positionally sanctified, progressively sanctified, preserved, final sanctification (at the Parousia of Jesus) and glorification with Him. All of these things are included in salvation.

the regeneration is NOT simultaneous for all people. it is different for all people
I think you misunderstand regeneration. Regeneration is the same as the New Birth. There is no such thing as a Christian who has not been regenerated, (other than nominal "in name only" Christians)

a person comes to Christ with a addiction. they never use the things again.

a person comes to Christ with an addiction . they struggle for years to break it.

is one more " saved " than the other?
No. And neither is one more regenerated that the other. They are both regenerate. There are different levels of sanctification, but not different levels of regeneration, justification, or adoption. With these three, it is only either you are or you aren't.

this is why religious people HATE salvation by Christ alone, because it levels the playing field.

if we are all saved by the same thing, then we cannot try to pump ourselves up and put others down.
The Church of Nazarene believes in salvation by grace through faith alone, all of it, including justification and sanctification.

When one is fed up with people not taking things seriously enough we exagurate.
So to remove an eye does not stop lust or involvement with people, but it emphasises
how serious these issues are.

The simple problem with us, is the more dysfunctional we are the more simple desires
appeal to block out the rest that is not working well. And the problem with feeding such
desires is they grow stronger, and rather than being resolved they demand more attention.

Spending time though doing things that make a difference, that are significant adds up.
And our energy increases as things come together, and things that used to distract and lead
to self indulgence begin to fade away. Our biggest battles are within us, and how focused
we are.

I see what you are saying.

as long as we can agree that sanctification looks different for every individual..

Of course. :) The important thing is walking according to what we have already attained, and pressing on towards what we are in the process of attaining. (Philippians 3:16) to the Glory of God. :)

Onward and upward.

Grace and peace be multiplied to you.

I rather see an eye doctor and fail the eye exam, to have it diagnosed, than to be ignorant of my eye condition, and live a life of ignorance
