Why is wisdom personified as a woman? Again I apologize if there is a thread on this already.

I would offer. it is attributed to the bride of Christ the church .She as his chaste virgin bride has the wisdom of her husband, Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.

Taking into consideration all of the Word you will find whether it be personified as a woman or as a man, it is of the Father.

There are many references in the Word to some of the more known persons of the Old Testament in the feminine. Sometims it is simply to stress God's affection for all.

Remember our Maker is spirit, not male, not female. All who are humg up on genders in heaven seem to be just that, hung up.

What did Jesus respond to the tricky Sadduccees? When the woman who had been wife to successive brother, seven of them, after each had died asking whose wife would she be come the resurrection? None of the seven for there will be no need for procreation.

Alsoremember it is written"With god there is no woman no man, but we are all the same in His eyes."

I do not pretend to understand all of the mystery of this but, as always, I believe because of thefaith gift I possess from our Father.

It will all be revealed inits time.

I can't wait for all to be revealed in its time. 😊

Hi Anidod, why is wisdom personified as a woman? Perhaps for the same reason that we personify battleships and aircraft carriers as women, even when they are named after a man ;)

Wisdom is a beautiful gift to us from God, something that is far more desirable than silver, gold and jewels could ever be, something beyond compare :)

I'm sure there is more, but those are my thoughts for the moment anyway.

p.s. - no need to apologize for anything BTW, that was an excellent, thought-provoking question (one which I have no seen here before).

The "foolish woman" is similar to the "strange woman of Proverbs 7:5. It is remarkable the number of times the Holy Spirit likens the infidelity of the female gender to spiritual adultery [Rom. 7:1-4]. False doctrine: "foolish woman" is symbolic, is "spiritual death."

Being a fool is also symbolic for spiritual death too.

Thank you 😊 yes beautiful. And also intriguing:

49 Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute:
50 That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;

Excellent question!

Of course wisdom is not a "physical" woman so, we scratch our head and say, "Huh?" lol! :giggle:

Basically, God is doing it again..... using something "physical" to help us understand something "spiritual."

First, think of what adjectives describe a woman........

Is a counterpart - fits with another part(s)
The "receiving" part
The "weaker" part
Receives seed from a man to produce a child
Mother - able to carry and birth a child
Provides milk to sustain the life of the child for 1 to 3 years
Nurturer

Next, think of what adjectives describe wisdom..........

Ability to recognize the Father's Will
Ability to know the Father's Will
Ability to understand the Father's Will
Ability to love the Father's Will
Ability to choose the Father's Will
Ability to do the Father's Will

So, Wisdom's counterpart is the Father's Will. When the two are joined, together they produce God's Life in us because Wisdom gives us the ability to obey the Father's Will.

When a woman is pregnant, she must be patient for the child - it's a process. Wisdom and the Father's Will working together in us is a process - we need to be patient as we wait for God's Life to be evident in us. Wisdom requires that we gain knowledge and understanding of the Father's Will which is a process.

James 1:4-6 King James Version (KJV)
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

James 3:17 King James Version (KJV)
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Wisdom from above will always make the right decision and choose the Father's Will, as a result, God's Life in us is produced.

Any decisions made outside of the Father's Will are complete and utter foolishness and a waste of time - they only produce death in us.
