And that's part of it too - in every other respect of his life Kevin embodies the Christian mores... outside of that he's really the most honorable person I know. So yeah, are we Christians any better than any gay person (or other sinner) just because we don't engage in that particular sin? Do we throw the baby out with the bathwater because of one particular failing?

But then I have to ask, what would Jesus do?

Wat did Jesus do?

Give the baby a lifeline...

and toss away if he doesn't take it
So one's righteousness or acts of goodness overturns one act of sin? It is very sad when one suggests that calling a sin sin, is judgment. Our good works and "mores"... are filthy rags. There is no such thing as a gay person. When we identify with the normality of sexual sins we then are creating acceptance of sin based on a lie. No, we don't throw out the baby but we do throw out the dirty water and still call the baby a baby.

And how do we treat them? Taken to it's conclusion, would one not attend a male/female wedding because one or both parties are not a virgin?
You need to put the word 'unrepentent' into that sentence. The issue is not whether one has sinned in the past. The issue is whether one is living a sinful lifestyle in the present.

Why must we keep making homosexuality the issue? The issue is whether one is actively and willfully living a sinful lifestyle and has refused to repent and get things right with God. This young man is living in a state of rebellion against God. I am not being judgmental. I am stating a fact that you know is true. God loves all sinners, but that alone does not get them off the hook for neglecting such great salvation as that which is freely accessible through accepting the cleansing blood of Jesus upon their lives.

This thread grieves me in this way, I used to think the same way.....and would treat a gay couple in the same manner as if my actions of rejection would cause conviction.

Why do we think like this? Is it because we still believe that we are guilty and condemned by our sins? We hear repent from the pulpits all the time, yet the scriptures say that it’s the goodness of the Lord that causes one to repent.

I’ve heard messages that have such deep revelation of Jesus from a few that penetrates my heart that I’m literally broken within. But, not in a destructive manner but that which results in a greater revelation of who He is, and what He presently does for us. And it causes me to love Him with the first kind of love that satisfies.

This is what the world needs to hear. And see.

I would not say whether one should go or not for only God should be the one to say....but if you do, pray for the anointing and anointed words. Am sure though Ricky that you would anyway.

There is entire broader issue here as well!

The people who keep arguing about how we are all sinners keep missing it completely.

This is about the "normalization of sin"....this is the problem and where we stand on that issue.

There is a strong analogy here with abortion which has been normalized/accepted in our society. Where does any of us stand on that issue?

We will continue to see this process of moral deterioration because the church has abdicated its role in society sadly.

Where has anyone promoted rejection of the person?

I like how Ken Ham put it; "We need to stop swatting at leaves and to lay the axe to the root."

Sin is sin and there is only one cure.

Why do we concern ourselves if we offend sinners? Do sinners not offend God? How shall we have a witness toward sinners if we do not separate from them? Lot should tell us that we cannot influence sodomites in their sin.

Sodomites are not without knowledge of their sin.

Ro 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

True!! and no one is going to look for a cure if the sin is celebrated...... and it is baffling this thread gone on as long as it has, with people stating we should join in the celebration.

I never said that one should or should not go.

I said to seek the will of God.

This thread also reminds me of the argument about going into bars to minister and the religious see one going in and assumes the worst.

I wouldn’t think the Lord would send a woman to do this, nor one who has a known problem with a current
drinking problem but a minister? Why not?

There’s the true story of one who did and fell on his knees there and prayed. Salvations happened. I can’t recall now who it was but am sure it can be googled. I wouldn’t recommend one to take this on their own initiative though. If not led to do, could be very disastrous.

The anointing and being led is my point.

And it is rejection UG. Shunning. We may shun a brother or sister, but a sinner? Well do what He says to do.

If the speed limit on my street is 25, and someone blows by at 50, is it not judgment to label that person a speeder? Judgment is no more than acknowledgement of the rules. And it's interesting to hear that when we follow Christ's commands, such an act qualifies as filthy rags. "Hey look that filthy rag is spreading Christ's love again! Dirtbag!"

Would not the root be satan and our fallen nature? Not sure we have the means to axe that. Christ does, but until He returns we're stuck with swatting leaves.

Jesus could go because He was above sin. If we go can we go and not sin?

Nope, it is not. to see some speeding is a law of the land that they violated and if they are caught they will receive a ticket which they got not as judgment but as a consequence for breaking the law. To say "wow they are speeding" does not affect the persons' eternal condition.

One can justify action all they would like, the filthy rags are in context to our works. They do not save us. Our works show we are saved. You said your nephew was or is a good moral person for the most part as I paraphrase your comments. I am sure you are right. But we are not saved by our moral actions we are saved by the blood of Jesus and our life after salvation must be like Christ. You can suggest or assume all you want. If you think speeding in a car is the same as sleeping with the same sex and same-sex marriage the only judgment is that lack of discerning right from wrong " woe to those who call bad good and good bad".
