What made you think I was responding to the OP when I was not not?

Here is what was said by one poster: No, what most are failing to do is understand the 1st century "Israel" context of Jesus' other parables in connection with the "wheat and tares".

Well the parables were not limited to "1st century Israel" but applicable to the Church Age until the Second Coming of Christ. Indeed "the pearl of great price" and "the hidden treasure" are pictures of the Church, which Christ purchased with His own blood.

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

oh my lands

would you lay down the club already?

I already said because I had the dude on ignore

so ultimately I agree with your post

if I was working hard on being dishonest, I would have just deleted my post but I found some humor (silly me) in responding without realizing I was wrong. always trying to get things right but no one is perfect

read my post again and you will see that what I am saying is true.

grouch

Is it not true that many believe they are Christians because they are members of some church, but may not really be saved? Then we have all the cults, who sincerely believe they are saved but again they may not be saved, especially if they refuse to believe that Jesus is God. Wheat and Tares are all within Christendom. And only God knows who is what.
That may be the case but that is not what Jesus was talking about.

I don't need to do that, Jesus explained it clearly what the parable meant, as I've already mentioned.

What do you want to know?
Whether the Apostles were Christian or not.

Another indication of the 1st century audience relevance of the parables to the Jews/Israel:

(Luke 13:22-25 And He went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem. Then one said to Him, “Lord, are there few who are saved?” And He said to them “strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able when once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know you, where you are from,’ )

(Luke 13:26 “then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.’ )

(Luke 13:27-28 But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity. “There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out.)

Comparing the above with what Jesus said about the "sons of the kingdom" in Matthew it's clear that the "tares" are of the then present kingdom of Israel who rejected Him.

(Mat 8:11 “And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. )

(Mat 8:12 “But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” )

Yet, strangely, given those same parameters we all come up with different answers.
One reason for the differences is that not all here have the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Some do not believe that way, and some who think they do really do not. Some believe that simply being water baptized fills them with His indwelling presence, and that is their error.

Scripture is clear (as Paul taught) on how a believer receives the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Some do not even believe in Spiritual Gifts........

Many reasons for differences of opinion of Scripture, but, I know for sure that the blame lies with us and not the Holy Spirit, nor His counseling.

I was a holy tare then I became a wheat now I'm part of the breakfast of champions.
Would I be correct when I paraphrase your post to say that you were In church pretending to be saved then you really did get saved and now Instead of a tare you are a wheat?
